Zack Polanski is making things bigger yet again so another thread needed.

Well things have developed rather a lot since the start. ZP started out as being another sexist guy in politics - no shortage those around, but he thought he could take it to a new level and he proved he could do it.

The Green threads have followed his rise from the start of with the Hypnoboobs scandal and much more. There is also:

Mothin Ali as deputy Leader who clearly doesn't believe in trans thinking, but cleverly sidesteps round talking about it, has always had a issues with encouraging racist violence and is now encouraging people to sue the Green party if they attempt to stop them saying racist stuff.

The other deputy Rachel Millward represents the posh rich faction of the Greens who manages to sounding like Reform when opposing Asylum Seekers in her area, but at the same time saying we are too harsh on immigrants in general. Obviously she also doesn't believe women are a thing. Yet she is the least crazy when violence is concerned compared to ZP, and Mothin.

Hypnoboobs scandal got worse recently when it became clear from BBC footage ZP actively believed in the Hypnoboobs thesis rather than being tricked into it.

Alongside all this there is constant ongoing attacks on biological reality from the party in interviews and in policy.

Now in the last week or so after a longstanding spate of antisemetic rhetoric from some Greens during the election campaign and ZP downplaying it. We have synagogues, schools, ambulances attacked, two Jewish people dead and ZP berating unarmed police for risking their lives in fighting a violent killer who was still armed with a knife things have come to a crisis point.

The Greens are becoming ever more sinister with dozens of candidates sounding like they are seventies NF supporters with comments about uppity women and Jewish power. The huge drama over a crazy motion which they were trying to pass against Israel at conference alongside a motion to prevent women having sports will surface again their September conference.

It seems likely after next week The Greens are going to be running a bunch of councils which doesn't bode well after their antics in Bristol.

Yet there is hope, in Bristol women are fighting back_: www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5455053-bristol-council-is-about-to-be-sued_

The fight back from Green Women's Declaration, ( https://www.greenwomensdeclaration.uk/ ) continues and the court cases against GPEW from Emma Bateman and Shahrar Ali are developing, both getting through legal delaying tactics as they move to trial. Gardening is needed. These cases if successful could be dramatic in their impact.

First thread - where you can follow the rise of ZP and lots of other scandal

Second Thread:

Note the Scottish Greens which are a separate party to the Green Party England/Wales have their own thread for all their sexist drama. They split off because GPEW didn't hate biology and women/gays enough at the time.

Seems like a clear antisemitic hate crime and incitement to violence to me. How do they think a Palestinian state will replace Israel without something like the 'final solution' (aka genocide) that the Nazis proposed. Except the Nazis were a bit less blatant about it at this point in their political trajectory.

Edited to add: I hope that any Jewish people who still have Green Party membership get their money back and are ok. Also, anyone Jewish in a Green constituency. Must be quite terrifying.

Edited

I hope that Jewish people in the UK understand that this is a tiny and intensely fucking stupid section of the populace, which includes an even tinier venomously racist faction.

Most people in the UK do not support this.

"The motion, which is now formal policy for the Greens in England and Wales, also calls for a single Palestinian state in place of Israel “with equal rights for all""

And how are they imagining this might happen?

How do they think it will be interpreted as anything other than a motion calling for the end of Israel?

An environmental party calling for the destruction of another country. They’re cowards to keep calling themselves ’Green Party’ and need to reveal themselves for what they’ve become. The Gaza Party?

Line is drawn.

Bridget Phillipson MP, Chair of the Labour Party, and Minister for Women and Equalities, responds to the Green Party’s vote on Zionism at the Green Party Conference, said:

“It is shameful to vote against a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine and to condemn the vast majority of British Jews and Jews around the world as racist for supporting Israel’s right to exist. It is fundamentally wrong and the leadership of the Green Party must make clear that this will not be their position moving forwards.

“The Labour Party has always been clear that criticism of the policies of the Israeli Government is not antisemitic, and the Labour government has condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza and the West Bank. But today’s vote at the Green Party Conference crosses a line and should be condemned across the political spectrum.

“This vote underlines how important it was that we changed the Labour Party from top to bottom and ripped out the scourge of antisemitism from within the party.

"The Labour Party and the Labour Government will continue working every day to ensure our Jewish communities are safe, feel safe and have their rights upheld, as well as making sure we rid our society of antisemitism once and for all.”

Alex Davies-Jones MP
Welsh Labour MP for Pontypridd Minister for Victims, VAWG & International Justice
I know the profound hurt and alarm the Green Party motion will be causing to many in the Jewish community.

Labour learned the hard way about addressing extremism in its ranks and we took action to rip the antisemitism from our party by the roots.

I am speaking to friends who are members of the community to let them know they needn't be frightened, that this is an unacceptable position and that there will always be those in power who will continue to tackle antisemitism head on.

Thanks for the update, it's good to know not every politician from Wales is part of the Omnicause blob, I wonder if Plaid Cymru will make it clear to the Green's in the Senedd that their parties antisemitism won't be tolerated in Wales.

It’s the determination to zone in on Zionism that confuses me. Most people in the U.K. only vaguely understand what it means and doesn’t it also mean different things to Jewish people? Why is it necessary to have a policy on Zionism at all?”

It seems politically inept, but is this just the logical consequence of trying to grow the party by attracting extremists who wouldn’t be welcome in other parties, and then having a constitution that puts them in charge?

I think it’s the logical outcome of having become useful idiots. Choosing Zionism is clever precisely because most of the general public won’t understand its meaning, and as you say, is a contested meaning in any event. Those who proposed the motion cannot outright say anything about Jewishness, but they’ve rallied a British political party to condemn the Israeli state. No mean feat.

@womendeserveequalhumanrights I think Green Party members feel emboldened to comment on Israel for multiple reasons. It’s understandable why the British Muslim population would feel sympathetic to the Palestinian cause. However, in my view, one of the reasons that non Muslim lefties would vote such a motion is partly they love to fight for any underdog and the biased reporting by the BBC has consistently portrayed Palenstine as the women and children suffering. Very little to nothing on Hamas or Hezzobollah and nothing on the history of the conflict.

Even today’s report says It has attracted criticism from some Jewish groups, including the Board of Deputies and the Jewish Leadership Council. Notice the choice of words. Criticism not condemnation, not shock and horror, not fear for their lives. And some groups - a subtle trick that suggests other Jewish groups are completely fine about this.

This is probably the one topic that DH and I can no longer discuss as he’s now completely anti-Israel thanks to watching the BBC.

That ship has sailed. So a bit weaselly to talk about moving forward. But Labour must be secretly pleased that this can be used against ZP’s run for MP. If he does get elected, it’ll be an outright declaration of antisemitism by the constituents.

iwishitwouldstartraining · Yesterday 19:05

Quite an interesting quote from one of the activists interviewed at the conference by the Newsagents podcast:

“In my youth, before I was Muslim, I was actually whipped up by Faraj's rhetoric. I was a far-right person before.”

Well, Alex picks and chooses her favourite bits from the Omnicause.

She's a big transgender ally. For instance, she thinks transwomen should be housed in women's prisons "where appropriate".

And this was her reply to someone whingeing about the Supreme Court ruling.

It's hard to see how the Green party's motion today will avoid an investigation by the EHRC, given Labour was previously found in breach.

Like the Greens care about the EHRC...

European Greens say they are "seeking a discussion" with the party's leadership over the motion In a statement:

"EGP had already reached out to GPEW [Green Party of England and Wales] in recent weeks to share its deep concern, as this motion is not aligned with agreed EGP positions. [...]
We are pleased to see that much of the Parliamentary Group and GPEW leadership voted against this motion. We will be seeking a discussion with the GPEW leadership and Parliamentary Group in order to understand whether this motion will become the official GPEW policy, and how the party now positions itself on the self-determination of Israelis and Jewish people, and the protection of Jewish members of the party."

Could not agree more. The misogyny and attempted silencing of women is very similar.

Absolutely agree. I have found the coverage around these events genuinely disturbing. A friend attended (she did not vote for the motion). She said the atmosphere was extremely hostile and threatening, immense pressure. She felt uncomfortable and at times slightly scared.

I bet it was, what with Muslim zealots and Hard Core Lefties I can imagine it was akin to the 'night of the long knives', the tweet from Wayne Kerr above got it right, they've just made themselves the Nazi Party.

Even the loonie Greens in Europe are horrified, and they're some of the biggest meatheads in the world.

I hope it is their undoing.

Too early for polling data, but I hope the nation is paying attention.

Senior party sources now admitted the Greens have been a plunged into chaos. Polanski and MPs way too late and weak in trying to oppose Zionism motion. New policy puts GPEW totally out of step with policy on ME elsewhere in Europe

The Green Party activists describe me unfairly.

I was invited to speak in my professional capacity, the naysyers themselves acknowledge that women’s pelvic health is “a serious and important issue”.

I’m notorious cubed, apparently. Am off to play some Duran Duran.

I think this can probably be added to legally questionable pile of shite for the day...

The Greens also have this notable shift

New: I understand the Green Party has dropped its opposition to nuclear power generation. Motion C03 which was brought by Greens for Nuclear was voted through on the conference floor this afternoon.

The motion resolves that blanket opposition to nuclear fission will be dropped from Green Party policy, and clarifies criteria by which a Green government will assess new energy infrastructure.

This might also see some members headed for the exits too (Personally I don't think this is a bad change of policy but it will not please some long term greens).

Especially given the lack of amendments.

This was especially damming. And indicative of just how weak and inept ZP’s leadership is given he couldn’t push the amendments through. They might have just about softened the motion but it came out as hardline as possible.

@idontknowhowtodreamyourdreams did your friend say why she felt the atmosphere to be so threatening? Were more men than women there?
