Hannah Spencer harassed in Manchester

Despite the fact that certain very vocal sections of this board are aggressively anti-trans and anti-Green, I'd gently suggest that this kind of confrontation and abuse is unacceptable in any civilised society, regardless of personal ideologies.

Perhaps the saddest irony here is that these male bigots claim to be protecting women's rights whilst trying to attack a woman MP. On International Women's Day.

I'd be curious to see how other MNetters feel about this situation...

Green Party say 'Hannah Spencer won't be silenced' after Manchester violence

Hannah Spencer, Gorton and Denton's newly-elected MP, was ushered into a police car amid the unfolding chaos

I’d not ‘gently suggest’. It bothers me that reasonable people like me are lumped in with aggressive people like this, and that it’s a complete own goal. TRAs have often wanted to paint us all as behaving this kind of way and when I’ve spoken to people on their side about my views, it takes a long time to unpack and convince re the views I hold, but that I don’t hate people or want to threaten them or scream in their faces. It’s no wonder our progress is slow on doing away with the with the ‘anti trans’ tropes, with things like this happening.

SmallChildCryingTearsofButter · 09/03/2026 08:55

I think you’re a bit confused about which board you’re on- there’s no ‘anti trans’ voices here.

All the article mentions is that “punches were thrown” which could mean anyone. Given the propensity for violence of the groups mentioned, it is quite likely that the punches were coming from their direction rather than the two men stating facts that Hannah should well know.

Can you show the evidence that they were ‘trying to attack’ Hannah as you claim?

sanluca · 09/03/2026 08:58

I completely agree this kind of in your face heckling and confrontation needs to stop. Especially men against women.

So shall we agree both sides will never do this ever again and remain civil when asking questions?

midgetastic · 09/03/2026 08:59

Is this Male violence ? You expect me to be surprised?

women are not responsible for men’s behaviour

dont fight for women’s rights because men will be violent as a result ? Don’t make a noise in the kitchen as men might be violent as a result? Can you hear yourself ?

Hoardasurass · 09/03/2026 09:01

Having watched the footage of the incident she was not attacked she was confronted by billboard chris and her green party zealots attacked billboard Chris and his team and it was the green supporters who were having to be dealt with by the police not billboard Chris and his lot.
But sure post an inaccurate article that blames billboard Chris and paints the greens as innocent victims and then blame us.
For those who are interested in the facts here's Chris's video of the interaction

Are you seriously trying to suggest that women are responsible for male violence? Typical TRA.

terryleather · 09/03/2026 09:03

Are you familiar with the rules of misogyny op?

Rule No. 1 - Women are responsible for what men do .

Unless you know that anyone on this board was involved in that incident, might I “gently suggest” you take your concerns up with those who were actually there?

Yep but then given who the poster is I'm not surprised

That comment doesn't even deserve the dignity of a response!

"Can you show the evidence that they were ‘trying to attack’ Hannah as you claim?"
I haven't claimed that, but I find it equal measures of interesting and depressing you immediately take that stance.

What I have done is is highlight a news report - one of very many, I should add - that covered an extremely aggressive confrontation.
There is also video footage of part of the incident, where the police are having to protect Hannah whilst they escort her to her car. The behaviour of those around her is, frankly, despicable.

I thought the violence broke out when a MAN from Stand Up To Racism punched a woman in the face?

Have you considered discussing the message, rather than unthinkingly attack the messenger? I think it might help promote a healthier discussion.

That's not Billboard Chris it's Edge of the Matrix (can't remember his actual name)

MassiveWordSalad · 09/03/2026 09:08

You do know, OP, that the feminists who habituate this board do their due diligence and watch the full videos, don’t you?

My apologies I thought it was Chris in the image thanks for the correction.
The rest of the post stands just the wrong name

I'm confused about what you think is going on here? in the report and why we are to discuss it?

Because what i can see is a member of the green party was heckled by a man.

So what do you think any of that has to do with a bunch of women on the internet?

Spiffingdarling88 · 09/03/2026 09:14

How embarrassing, I would watch the complete video if I was you, stop spreading misinformation.

midgetastic · 09/03/2026 09:15

I think the OP is saying

”look you nasty trans haters what your ideas have done - they has led to male violence and a women feeling threatened. You should be ashamed of where your hate has led “

it’s such a standard malE Line it’s very very funny given OPs persona

its actually irrelevant who threw the punches at this stage - although if the green party was in the habit of throwing punches it should be more widely known

Shedmistress · 09/03/2026 09:17

From what I saw.

She was walking through a city centre.

Edge of the Matrix man in a billboard started asking questions.

TRAs pitched in and started the violence.

Holdmeclosertinydancer2018 · 09/03/2026 09:27

Well don't you like like a wally. You haven't even watched the video! Matrix dude clearly getting pushed, shoved around and gobbed off at by TRAs.

I agree that some of the behaviour was awful, for example the Unison official that punched a woman in the face and the TRAs that were aggressive,
MPs should be afforded proper protection regardless of their sex, and they should also be able to answer a simple question such as “can a woman gave a penis”
