Hannah Spencer harassed in Manchester

Despite the fact that certain very vocal sections of this board are aggressively anti-trans and anti-Green, I'd gently suggest that this kind of confrontation and abuse is unacceptable in any civilised society, regardless of personal ideologies.

Perhaps the saddest irony here is that these male bigots claim to be protecting women's rights whilst trying to attack a woman MP. On International Women's Day.

I'd be curious to see how other MNetters feel about this situation...

Green Party say 'Hannah Spencer won't be silenced' after Manchester violence

Hannah Spencer, Gorton and Denton's newly-elected MP, was ushered into a police car amid the unfolding chaos

"I think you’re a bit confused about which board you’re on- there’s no ‘anti trans’ voices here."
That comment doesn't even deserve the dignity of a response!

"Can you show the evidence that they were ‘trying to attack’ Hannah as you claim?"
I haven't claimed that, but I find it equal measures of interesting and depressing you immediately take that stance.

What I have done is is highlight a news report - one of very many, I should add - that covered an extremely aggressive confrontation.
There is also video footage of part of the incident, where the police are having to protect Hannah whilst they escort her to her car. The behaviour of those around her is, frankly, despicable.

Oh dear, I think there are some very crossed wires at your end.

You literally said this in your OP:
male bigots claim to be protecting women's rights whilst trying to attack a woman MP.

So then I asked you for the evidence that it was the men with the WR placards attacking her but now you are denying that you even said that? So I’m guessing you know that but wasn’t Billboard Chris and his colleague committing the violence even though that was your implication?

There is also video footage of part of the incident, where the police are having to protect Hannah whilst they escort her to her car. The behaviour of those around her is, frankly, despicable.

Your implication that the violence was committed by Billboard Chris etc was clear because no one could ever accuse the Green/Islamic men of protecting women’s rights 🤣

If you’ve got an issue with the violence from the Green/Islamic men, go tell them about it. I’m not sure why you’ve come here to berate women?

Btw, this board is about discussing women’s rights. If you deem that to be ‘anti trans’ then that highlights the serious incompatibility of women’s rights and trans ideology. Doesn’t it.

Greyskybluesky · 09/03/2026 12:10

I would rewrite the OP thus:

Despite the fact that certain very vocal sections of the left are aggressively anti-woman and anti-free speech, I'd firmly suggest that this kind of confrontation and abuse is unacceptable in any civilised society, regardless of personal ideologies.

Perhaps the saddest irony here is that these left-wing male bigots claim to be protecting women's rights whilst trying to attack a woman. On International Women's Day.

"I'd be curious to see how other MNetters feel about this situation" - I hope your curiosity has now been satisfied, OP

"No idea tbh but why are they always so aggressive?"

You admit to having no idea about a marginalised group, but still condemn make statements that they want total domination?

I can't imagine any other situation in life where people have no idea about a group of people but are still aggressively opposed to them...

Whom are these ‘marginalised people’ of which you speak? As far as I know, men are not marginalised.

Thelnebriati · 09/03/2026 12:14

OP are you claiming that everyone who holds a belief is responsible for all the other people who share that belief? Good luck with that.

Helleofabore · 09/03/2026 12:01

I look at this rally and I am actually really shocked by the stewarding. The stewarding is aggressive and was not focused on de-escalation of the situation. It was a very poor stewarding effort.

I can't help wondering that at what point are these politicians, the police, event organisers, etc, are going to realise the god awful optics of blanking people and pretending they're not asking pertinent questions about women's rights and safety.

All whilst their security either ignore women being attacked, or actually take part in it themselves.

Correct, men are not marginalised.

But that isn't the group you mean, is it... 😉

Yes it is. Who do YOU mean?

midgetastic · 09/03/2026 12:21

So missS talks about marginalised groups - guess misS is referring to women then?

No, I wondered the same, but it’s a different poster. IIRC, @MissScarletintheBallroom was an A&E doc hence the informed views on medical aspects of PBs, CSHs, surgery etc.

Thanks for clearing that up. Interesting choice of user name in the light of that.
#Sad Times vibes.

The biological kind of course, as defined by the supreme court.

You need to be very clear what you mean here.
Does your definition of women include men pretending to be women, and this is the type of woman you claim to be marginalised?

FallenSloppyDead4 · 09/03/2026 12:25

Just to clarify, it's Edge of the Matrix, not Billboard Chris

SmallChildCryingTearsofButter · 09/03/2026 12:26

MissScarletInTheBedroom · 09/03/2026 11:10

Of course, this pitchforks and brand-waving clamour has rather derailed the thread, which presumably was the intention in the first place by the usual suspects here, but it has at least been instructive that it has provided a neatly clear picture about the political ideologies that are core to this forum.

Maybe the online magazine Jezebel was right when they said MN "has become a toxic breeding ground for transphobia"...? 🤔

So you started a thread about male violence but now we’re derailing by talking about male violence because you were caught out trying to pretend the perpetrators of said violence was on ‘our’ side and not the side of the anti women Greens? Hmm.

You'll probably get a telling off for even asking but couched in a 'gentle exhortation' possibly asking you to step back and breathe....

Good job OP started this thread!

No, my definition of women does not include men pretending to be women.
No, that is not the type of woman who is marginalised.

I'd have thought this should have been obvious...

Equalities Officer from Unison is the person who punched a woman in the face

It's called "punching up" when a person On The RIght Side Of History does it.

BettyBooper · 09/03/2026 12:29

Why do the TRAs that plop on here not realise that their creepy coyness just sounds like 'we are laydeez' from Little Britain '?

Watch the one he did in Brighton. It's long but it illustrates a lot about this anti-woman belief system.

KittyWilkinson · 09/03/2026 12:29

Edge of the Matrix is quite the natty dresser.
Unlike the ten foot fake fur wearer with the scarlet red lippy giving him a snide shove every now and again.
