Robin Ince quits working for the BBC over his support for men in dresses and terrorists

Shame really he’s a nice guy, a huge bibliophile, met him a few times at book signings, the last live show of his I saw he did shoehorn in “and of course trans women are real women” or some such nonsense.

guessing the infinite monkey cage is cancelled now, that was in my top five podcasts.

can’t do a popular science show and think women can have a penis though. Wonder what Brian thinks?

the video of his love resignation , presumably at the end of a monkey cage recording, is here
https://www.reddit.com/r/transgenderUK/comments/1plg02g/bbc_presenter_robert_ince_claims_he_has_been/

notably he doesn’t say how men in dresses are being treated badly. Everyone has a blind spot.

I've found him to be insufferable for many years and he was the reason why, despite The Infinite Monkey Cage being firmly within my areas of interest, I couldn't listen to the programme.

Here's Ince's statement for those not able to view the video:

My small and select group of terfy mates have been cackling about this today! Grin

Hooray, I say. He's a whiny manbaby with a persecution complex, as far as I can see.

Swamphag · 13/12/2025 10:18

It's the whole "omg people are losing their jobs for standing up for transpeople"
Nobody gives a shit that many women have been put through the wringer and under threat of losing their jobs for standing up for women.
Robin Ince is a dick - supposed man of science backing something with no basis is reality. At least he has the good grace to admit he's privileged (but seems completely unable to tie that to anything other than "I'm not a poor put upon transperson" and let's face it he means trans identified males here) Wanker.

Robin Ince is a dick - supposed man of science

Is he though, man of science, I mean? I have to admit RI is another one who I basically only know the name and not much else but I had a quick look at his wiki and I don't understand why he is considered a man of science.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/12/2025 10:22

Sad times.

SlackJawedDisbeliefXY · 13/12/2025 10:26

BBC stops using trans desk to review its output = no Robin Ince.

I liked listening to him on IMC but I'll take that deal

worrisomeasset · 13/12/2025 10:27

Ince’s working relationship with Brian Cox must be a bit weird, given that Gia Milinovich, who is Cox’s wife, is outspokenly GC. Ms Milinovich is on record as saying that Ince no longer speaks to her. I find it rather odd that Cox continued to work with him.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 13/12/2025 10:28

Oh no however will we cope???

oh wait, it's absolutely fine

Beerlzebub · 13/12/2025 10:30

Oh dear, how sad, never mind.

They don't like it when the cancelling happens to them, do they?! 😉

Sorry you're right he isn't a man of science, I didn't word that very well (blaming being loaded with cold but actually I'm inarticulate!) Science podcast host

Sad times.

This will never not be funny.

Supporterofwomensrights · 13/12/2025 10:32

What a pity he doesn't have it within himself to represent kindness, open-mindedness and empathy. Seeing as they are so scarce and all.

Beerlzebub · 13/12/2025 10:34

Here he is, whinging on BlueSky (of course he's on BlueSky 🙄):

Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

If you can be bothered to access the post, he whinges on at great length in images of his text.

I just think he is another one (many comedians seem to be in this group) who like to think of themselves as "people of science and reason" but are in fact lacking any real depth of understanding and then get captured by any passing fad, like gender ideology.

Reading his statement on BlueSky, it's clear there's a whole backstory there that we're not being told. It seems as if he's breached the BBC's impartiality rules (much like Gary Lineker) but he's decided to frame it as "poor little me, I'm being bullied by the meanies".

I have always found him insufferable. Hopefully they'll find a replacement for him on The Infinite Monkey Cage who will do a decent job.

Ohyoudodoyou · 13/12/2025 10:39

Good. More to follow, the big div. We’re so over these men telling us that other men are much more vulnerable than me and my female friends and family. Going for cocktails with my female mates later and will delight in sharing this.

I bet she's bloody delighted. Now they need to find a female scientist to continue TIMC, and poor Robin will discover that life can go on without him 😄

Perhaps the show would benefit from a woman of science as the presenter?
Suggestions?

TheKeatingFive · 13/12/2025 10:40

Did he trans a child or something? Why is he so invested?

He's very much an Omnicausist.

Because if you read his whiny BlueSky post, he identifies as being a good person, and for him and his ilk, that means promoting a certain package of beliefs.

MrsEmmelinePankhurst · 13/12/2025 10:44

Urgh. I was at the same uni as him many many years ago. He was a “personality” on campus. Wanker.
