Robin Ince quits working for the BBC over his support for men in dresses and terrorists

Shame really he’s a nice guy, a huge bibliophile, met him a few times at book signings, the last live show of his I saw he did shoehorn in “and of course trans women are real women” or some such nonsense.

guessing the infinite monkey cage is cancelled now, that was in my top five podcasts.

can’t do a popular science show and think women can have a penis though. Wonder what Brian thinks?

the video of his love resignation , presumably at the end of a monkey cage recording, is here
https://www.reddit.com/r/transgenderUK/comments/1plg02g/bbc_presenter_robert_ince_claims_he_has_been/

notably he doesn’t say how men in dresses are being treated badly. Everyone has a blind spot.

And it’s particularly weird because so many of them have zero empathy for anyone else. I think the same as when a pp mentioned that he’s been wanging on about how awful Sandie Peggie is. “Trans people” literally posted memes celebrating a 36 year old lesbian woman dying from brain cancer. The reason he’s posting about Sandie is that he thinks her private WhatsApp posts get him off the hook for his general misogyny to all women who value single sex spaces, including specific women who have challenged him.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/12/2025 13:33

as I’ve said on other threads, let’s see the secret WhatsApps of your friends and followers then mate.

From the New European

"Some BBC insiders, though, are somewhat more sceptical about Ince’s leaving. Several noted that relations between Ince and his co-host Cox had been chillier in recent years, making the show’s production somewhat fraught. At least one suggested Ince was not always the most enjoyable talent to work with, though this is not a unique complaint at the Corporation."

Interesting. That's actually The New World, a centrist online publication I was previously blissfully unaware of 😆 But it's got some big name writers (in that world), and for them to post anything that wasn't 100% supportive of our poor martyr Robin is veeeery interesting 🤔

ETA: Sorry @nicepotoftea , I see that it is indeed some sort of rebranding/brand extension of The New European. That makes their less than 100% support of Ince even less likely.

Another pushed back on the sense that Ince had been forced out, noting that even his own resignation statement said he’d “felt I had no choice”, and suggested no-one had actually demanded changes of behaviour, let alone given him an ultimatum to shut up or go. Opinions on that matter will surely differ, and the ongoing row about which opinions are allowed at the BBC – and who is allowed to have them – will surely rumble on, even if The Infinite Monkey Cage in its current form will sadly not.

And it’s this that is the chilling factor here. None of these pricks will face their private chats being analysed. Look at how these cases work. Even when men are involved, they often stay clear of testifying.

Could not be a bigger twat about gender and woke left crap.I used to be a paid supporter of his personal podcast the bugle, went to live shows etc and one episode they laid into JKR for all the wrong reasons - I emailed them, told them why, stopped everything. Bellend. All those “protect young trans people” jokes in the news quiz are his.

This is most disappointing. I've always had the impression he's keeping personal opinions to himself. I'll listen more carefully from now on.

cramptramp · 13/12/2025 13:37

I don’t care.

I guess that’s what most of us imagined, that he’s huffing about guidelines or whatever, not a specific instruction.

Indeed. But I would have expected The New World to be completely RIAM (Robin Is A Martyr), not print what they have.

Perhaps he doesn't have as much support as he thinks he has. (Except for the TWAW Centrist Dads and the transes, of course.)

I've found him to be insufferable for many years and he was the reason why, despite The Infinite Monkey Cage being firmly within my areas of interest, I couldn't listen to the programme.

Same, may be now they'll replace him with someone much better.

Hannah fry

Good choice, now she's free of Rutherford (another Omnicauser) she might be a good fit for the saintly Cox.

Crucible · 13/12/2025 14:02

Diane Morgan should do the show with Brian Cox. Im being absolutely serious!

When did (some) people become so invested in their view of themselves as ‘kind’, ‘good’, etc to the exclusion of logic and common sense?

"Traits of communal narcissism

Seeks praise for altruism:
They volunteer or help others primarily to be recognized and praised for their actions, not for genuine kindness.
Has a sense of moral superiority:
They believe they are more virtuous and compassionate than others, which they use to justify their own needs.
Portrays a selfless public image:
They cultivate a public image of being helpful, kind, and caring, often through involvement in charities or community events.
Lacks genuine empathy:
Despite appearing empathetic, they have a superficial or inconsistent level of empathy, and may even feel contempt for those they are supposedly helping.
Uses manipulative and entitled behaviours:
They can be manipulative, expect constant praise, and may be demanding or difficult to deal with in their private life, which contradicts their public persona.
Uses social media for validation:
They often use social media to document their good deeds and seek validation and praise from others.
Plays the martyr:
They may portray themselves as a martyr, putting themselves last to gain sympathy and attention."

The best nominee so far, and she's from Manchester, so BC will love her. 😂

Matthew D'Ancona is an 'editor at large' and Sonia Sodha writes for them (she wrote their article about Virginia Giuffre, their person of the year), so I think it's fair to say that they have contributors who have a range of views. (Alistair Campbell also an 'editor at large').

DworkinWasRight · 13/12/2025 14:18

Maybe Gia could replace Robin - have a husband-and-wife pairing, like Richard and Judy.

That's not a bad idea, especially as it would have the added deliciousness of causing a genderists melt down at the Beeb...

WhereYouLeftIt · 13/12/2025 14:26

So, Ince quits because he’d “felt I had no choice”.
Why didn't he have a choice?
Because he can't stop being a virtue-signalling wanker?
Why was him being a virtue-signalling wanker problematic to the BBC?

Serious question. With how very, very pro-trans the BBC has shown itself to be for YEARS, why has this now happened?

Matt D'Ancona and Matt Kelly (New World's editor in chief) host a great podcast called The Two Matts and they've covered this issue several times in a very calm and measures way that has outraged the TRAs. Highly recommend giving them a listen.

Great. Don't know what else he did/does for the BBC but on the odd occasion I've heard the radio prog with Brian Cox, this guy made me turn it off.Thinks he's hilarious but not sure why such a topic needs some self-regarding twat trying to make everything into a joke. Some of us can cope with scientific stuff just fine without that. Just another very unfunny BBC 'comedian', and good riddance.

I suspect this bit might be quite important:

I suspect this bit might be quite important:

Er, don't do this in the name of LGB people or neurodivergent people mate, wanting non-consenting women to undress for men has nothing whatsoever to do with being homosexual or neurodivergent thanks. It's not an integral part.
