So to be clear her meds were in her bag.

She left the room in a rush.

Then sometime later - and total speculation here of course - it occured to her that if you want a covered up excuse that you are in pain and you need medication - well it serves to actually have the meds.

So the clerk was sent back to get her bag. We all rose when he came out, but he was on his own, got the bag and went back to chambers.

Why did she need her bag in this very urgent break otherwise?

And now she's got herself in a position where the world and his wife know about her medical condition and we've got onto bowels!
I keep wondering about this, that the least worst option is divulging medical info.

I carry meds, they stay in my bag, I cannot be doing with moving them around pockets everytime I wear something different.

I stole it.

Actually if you look closely it's made up of Tunnock's Caramel Wafer wrappers (I knew I'd find a use for them)

You could give DB some tips on laying low in unearned positions 🤣

(I would get in touch with Tunnocks - they could expand their range from biscuits tins - it's a commercial dream! )

Wondering how some of these asides would work out for those scraping the threads in the future....

Re dashing out of the room

I am a 60 year old woman
I'd grab my handbag before ANYTHING (including my kids) if leaving a room for a medical issue
as it would have my drugs and the rest

nothing weirder than a woman of my age leaving her handbag behind

Urinary incontinence? Perimenopausal flooding? Neither things you’d want teeeted out by NW?!?

I would if I was in his position.

Whatever happens on Monday though I don't see any of this quieting down even once Sara's case is done.

Especially if it turns out the 'Professor' is not a Professor. That could open up every panel members history to bring scrutinised.

I think Mumsnet would have them all vetted in a week no bother!

To be fair I have some empathy for EJ Sturgeon. The panel have been doing this for eons. Shes in her 40s. So Professor Dr Debroah Boyd was appointed when she was in her teens.

How is she going to come in and say ok lets have at it - give me your CVs and we will go through it line by line?

They are re-appointed every 5 years and I would want to see proper vetting. There aren't that many in total.

The reason no one has asked is that the legal profressionals cannot risk their careers and livelihoods bringing challenges.

That needs to change.

So please say more on all of this?

If people are literally BFF with BFF people (see what I did there) then they do have a clear bias that needs to be disclosed. I mean gay and in the arts in Belfast. That is Michelle's venn diagram.

Maybe there is a reason she is smiling between sessions but totally hostile to Naomi. It doesn't matter what she says in the room - she knows the votes are in the bag??

To be fair, it doesn’t really mean much on the face of it. They might equally think MD is a wee bisim and be glad to shoot her down.

I think we should err on the side of caution here and trust that of Michael had any connections with BFF or MD or chair of BFF he would have declared it.

There is quite a serious spanner seeming to emerge in the workings of PD but we shouldn’t assume all others are at it in the same way she appears to be.

That being said I think Sturgeon has shown bias against NC with her furious response and her desire to take revenge action to the detriment of the claimant. Now we have had a chance to reflect on that it is quite appalling behaviour from a judge and allowed the equally appalling behaviour of SD.

I know nothing of judgy behaviour behind the scenes but if other colleagues of hers are paying attention they might want to suggest she rethinks recusing herself. How can she produce a reasonable judgement after such an explosion of temper?

Anyhoo, all to play for!!!

Urinary incontinence? Perimenopausal flooding? Neither things you’d want teeeted out by NW?!?

I've had menstrual flooding while sat in a huge committee chamber. The last thing I would do is draw attention to myself and walk out in front of people. Or leave my bag.

I stayed sat faffing until everyone was up or leaving or moving around and then tied a cardigan round my waist before being able to sort the chair and my stuff.

KittyWilkinson · 15/11/2025 22:02

Is this the same Sean Doherty as in the Tribunal?
The Tribunal SD also seems to claim expertise in criminal law according to the NI bar but I'm not a hundred percent it's the same one?

According to the Belfast Telegraph, prosecutors informed the court that James had told police he would “stab the neighbor and feel happy.”
Defense barrister Sean Doherty said the two parties had got along well for some time, but the relationship eventually deteriorated. Doherty stated that James had confided in the neighbor about certain details of his birth identity, which the neighbor then used to “bully” him. James, who has been active in the local trans activist community, took particular exception to being referred to by his birth name or “dead name.Trans Activist Who Secured Pre-Trial Transfer To Women's Jail Is Convicted After Threatening Neighbor With A Knife For "Misgendering" Him - Reduxx

I agree. I don’t think it’s Sturgeon who should be vetting the panel and judges should be able to take them on trust based on the processes for re-appointment.

What I find odd from the digging on this that she is listed in re-appointment as Mrs D Boyd and presumably the name cards are made up by clerks and they would use the official record of names for the sake of accuracy and so the only option I can think of is that Mrs Boyd has said, ‘No dear, it should be Professor not Mrs’ (why do I imagine Hyacinth Bucket?).

There is no other D Boyd on the list so there appears almost definitely to be shenanigans is some sort.

Micheal McKeown might be critical in sorting out this mess. If he has any brains and self-preservation he should be obtaining legal advice over the weekend.

That would be a good decision for a wise and impartial panel member. But getting a solicitor in NI seems to be a closed loop. Everyone knows everyone.

This is it.

The first question that needs to be asked is whether DB is a Professor. It's a reasonable and necessary question.

If this can't be answered, with evidence, it makes the whole thing a farce.

Yes.

I wonder if this will actually be a very significant moment in the governance of such pools and panels.

It will be one of those things that in the future everyone will say, 'Well of course I have to confirm my identity/address/DBS and up to date training and qualifications when I apply to reaccredit.'

And everyone will think how mind blowingly open to abuse and corruption it would be to have a system whereby you get to take part if you know someone who gets you the job (and all your other jobs) and then you just get to do more jobs because of taking part...

KittyWilkinson · 15/11/2025 22:16

If it is the same barrister then of course you can represent all kinds of awful people as they are entitled to a defence attorney. So I'm not criticising him being a defence lawyer for this person.

However, it's his carry on in the Tribunal that makes me think that he's not quite impartial in all of this.

If it is indeed The SD of current Tribunal.

I wonder if DB has any knowledge of the turn things have taken?

Or is she kicking back with a glass of wine glad to have next week unexpectedly off?

Do you think she has used the dr and professor titles for so long that she's actually forgotten the ins and outs and just habituated the practice?

I guess if she first got a sign and was addressed in that way when there was some truth in it (if there ever was) it then gets progressively more difficult to say, " can I have a more boring less special sign please' as the years move on?

And if you spot something like the website @SexRealistic screenshot and someone has mistakenly called you Dr and you don't correct it and then....

I was raised Catholic and feel guilty about almost everything I think do and say so I can't put myself in those shoes but I can see that it would get harder not easier to sort. Especially in a small linked community.

Her and Michelle D will be kicking back at karaoke singing the great classic 'Stand by your Trans' and thinking what a holy show EJ Sturgeon made of those wee English wans.

.... But Monday soon comes around folks.

This may be a misread of social media, I am far from expert in it's ways. But 'Professor' Boyd is said to live in Armagh, and to have a 22yr old daughter named Zoe. There is a Zoe Boyd of that approximate age operating beauty salons in Armagh/Portadown. That same Zoe Boyd appears to be in a relationship with a somewhat gender-fluid female called Frankie Byrne.

https://www.facebook.com/zoe.boyd.71/posts/pfbid0YrdNKX7sXdKpSwKzHHsEqMo5AZoaoY4hV2AMU6k4QnD3uuJEjqaLhNFboGsVozQ3l

https://www.facebook.com/zoe.boyd.71/posts/pfbid0ZW5zd2zZxcUEGsgUkyLSNScE21vmnYySVRknSgegJjaHVXsBKwjtmsSVsvWfoDpyl

This is highly speculative and must not be taken as fact, but if that's the same Zoe Boyd it's quite possible that her mother would have firm views on trans rights etc.

Yep - initially I thought they weren't the same Zoe Boyd but the NW copies of DB's social media include a photo of DB in front of an advertising screen for Zoe Boyd the make up artist so she is clearly DB's daughter who indeed has a non binary/TiF other half.
