"I have a concern, which <re-thinks, quickly, on her feet> is that ... my FM is playing up and I need to take a tablet which I just left in the hearing room, oh bother...."

None of this makes sense. It's just conspiracy layered on top of conspiracy.

This Tribunal needs taking to a Tribunal!

SinnerBoy · 15/11/2025 17:29

Why, what a lot of mean minded cynics we have on this thread. My heart is warmed at the touching thought that DB's colleagues were so concerned for her health, that they scurried off with her, to see that she took the correct medication.

Shame on yous!

BettyBooper · 15/11/2025 17:29

As an aside, interesting question on the Visiting Lecturer information form from Ulster University

'The Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) is the official agency for the collection, analysis and dissemination of quantitative information about higher education.

The University of Ulster has a statutory obligation to provide information relating to those individuals who are engaged by the organisation as a Visiting Lecturer. '

Question 5 – Is your gender the same as you were assigned at birth?

(No question about what sex you are in the first place btw. So apparently that's not useful for their 'statutory obligation')

I think they should have done more than prevent it getting to that point tbh.

If any panel member has a long term condition that is exacerbated by travel and long sittings and requires access to medication at intervals, then reasonable adjustments should be made to ensure regular breaks and mitigation.

It should not be that the poor panel member is forced to interrupt proceedings to have access to a predictably required drug, nor that their condition is aggravated by asking them to do too long a journey frequently ao that a crisis occurs. The poor panel member has been forced to publicly declare private medical info.

And surely there is a need to take responsibility for the potential collapse of a hearing mid way through because reasonable adjustments and due care towards a known long term condition sufferer have not been taken?.

I have a FMP subscription and there are 96 references to the name Deborah Boyd in NI press articles listed. I've checked the first 2 pages and most are references to our Deborah Boyd and one or other of her companies/positions in the 1990s and 2000s.

Tell me more - is that a press subscription?

Can I sign up to it?

Someone earlier mentioned local press in Lurgan etc for our Prof?

NotAtMyAge · 15/11/2025 17:46

BettyBooper · 15/11/2025 17:02

Interesting! Is she down as being a Professor throughout?

Definitely not. The latest date of publication listed is 2004 where she is mentioned once as Professor. I've only scanned quickly but most just refer to her as Deborah Boyd or Mrs Deborah Boyd, going back to 1990. I'm guessing the Professor title became more useful the higher she got up the ladder.

A summary to head up each new thread @TwoLoonsAndASprout as requested by @SexRealistic . I'm going to make two posts as it's very long.

Post 1 Case summary

Sara Morrison (SM) was the Inclusion and Audience Development Co-ordinator at Belfast Film Festival (BFF). She has an adult trans-identifying son, helped re-establish rape crisis services in Northern Ireland after a 13-year gap, and believes women’s organisations should maintain women-only spaces for vulnerable women.
Sara spoke at a Let Women Speak event in Belfast on 16 April 2023, criticising several women’s and advocacy organisations for abandoning single-sex principles. She did not identify herself or her employer, but she was recognised. A targeted online campaign began within hours, tagging BFF and demanding she be dismissed. Sara experienced sustained online abuse and became socially isolated.
Watch the footage here (Sara starts at 1hr 4mins):

She informed BFF Director Michele Devlin (MD), who initially responded supportively. In June 2023, Michele raised concerns about Sara’s views, said the BFF Board had been shown her speech, and questioned her about sharing facilities with trans-identifying people. Sara continued working visibly through the BFF documentary season without incident.
In July 2023, during planning for Belfast Pride, an LGBT arts organisation publicly labelled Sara a “transphobic bigot,” triggering another online pile-on. BFF issued a public statement saying it was “investigating,” which intensified the pressure. An external HR investigation followed. Sara was advised to work from home, lost access to email and shared drives, and was asked to return her office keys. She felt frozen out, viewed the investigation as biased, initiated a grievance, went on sick leave, and began medication.
While she was off sick, MD attended Belfast Pride wearing a “Trans Inclusive Feminist” t-shirt and posted photos online before deleting them.
In June 2024, journalist Jo Bartosch shared Sara’s crowdfunding campaign https://x.com/jo_bartosch/status/1798410239730982919, which was amplified by JK Rowling https://x.com/jk_rowling/status/1798434418023112789.

In November 2024, Sara resigned from BFF and claimed constructive dismissal.
Sara’s case, Morrison v Belfast Film Festival, is legally significant because in Great Britain, the Forstater ruling (2021, upheld 2022) confirmed that gender-critical beliefs are protected as a philosophical belief under the Equality Act 2010. However, the Equality Act does not apply in Northern Ireland, which instead uses a patchwork of older anti-discrimination laws (including the Sex Discrimination Order 1976 and the Fair Employment and Treatment Order 1998). How Forstater and the subsequent For Women Scotland Supreme Court ruling interact with Northern Ireland’s legislation is unresolved. As a result, this tribunal in Belfast the following week is being treated as a test case.
Sara is represented by barristers Naomi Cunningham and Charlotte Elves, as well as solicitor Simon Chambers.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 10 November and is expected to last at least two weeks.

Summary for top of thread @TwoLoonsAndASprout and @SexRealistic

Post 2 Links

During the Tribunal, a panel member, Deborah Boyd, stood down for health reasons, after Morrison’s legal team applied to have the entire judging panel removed. Naomi Cunningham accused Boyd of bias and failing to declare her bias to the court at the beginning of the tribunal. The allegations stem from Boyd’s affiliations with pro-trans women’s groups and her social media posts.

Afraid not. It's a historical newspaper collection on a genealogy website which my premium annual subscription gives me access too. The latest article included for Deborah Boyd was published in 2004.

Thanks @NotAtMyAge .

Really interesting. Tis all pointing to 2004.

Did DB think being a Prof would look better in Parliament?

@Boiledbeetle - confess! Was it you who gave her a certificate?!

I found it a really useful catch up. I'd not registered some of the legal bits, so that was very useful 🙂

As if I'd produce fake certificates on the internet!

Everything does seem to point to 2004 being the year she became a 'Professor'. Legitimate or not who knows.

Maybe she had had an alert that Tunnocks were being served in the Panel's withdrawing room and had a concern that there would not be a enough to go around.
Would explain the speed with which she managed to get out of the door

SexRealistic · 15/11/2025 18:07

Everyone is seated with water in front of them. Her bag was beside her.

She needs drugs, pop them out discretely and take it - or grab the meds and signal that you need you rise.

You don’t start getting agitated, run out the room without your meds at the exact time Naomi uses the phrase ‘you say tranwoman I say a man who identities as trans (or some such)’.

And then a decent while later send the clerk back out for your bag.

Which one sounds like someone going to take medication?

It's only recently that Companies House ask for corroboration of the name you use. Back in the day, there were no checks.

Companies House have recently instituted mandatory verification of directors.

I've been a director of more than one listed company, a licensed profession, held a UK driving license, have a passport, lived at the same address for 18 years and I failed. Had to go get verified in person.

As the kids say - that shit got real. Recently.

That happened to the person I know. Had to go into town to the post office to prove his identity.
