Shoot me down if I speak out of turn, but, I don’t think NC proved her first point about DBs membership of the consortium, because she didn’t give dates. I also kind of think that if SM was entitled to her beliefs and shouldn’t lose her job, then same should apply to DB. But I have been accused of naïveté in the past…

I'm presuming there is proper "proof" of NCs allegations in whatever they've pulled together this morning.

GoldThumb · 14/11/2025 13:56

wow.

If they don’t recuse I’m assuming it’s an automatic appeal?

OdeToTheNorthWestWind · 14/11/2025 13:57

They're not going to be able to fudge this one. Not with Nick Wallis as well as Naomi in the room.

I think the paperwork will have been handed over, and NC is referencing it. And it's not a job loss - it's not being party to a decision which could be affected by your personal interest cf councillors not participating in planning decisions re their neighbours. She can sit on other tribunal (lucky them)

... making incorrect assumptions about her views and her we have a recusal application based on wild assumptions. It is staggering that no authorities have been presented. No case law. There is the fair-minded informed observer would think. This app alleges actual bias. No authorities on this...

I am waiting on authorities to be sent down. May I obtain the authorities so you are properly guided on the legal test. If it is granted there are serious consequences for everyone in this room and therefore the decision...

.. should be made fully informed of the authorities. May I have a ten minute break to get the authorities.

The email addresses?

Somebody please check the waybackmachine website - internet archive - to see if there anything to suggest Deborah’s web presence has been cleaned. I would do it but I’m not at a desk.

Companies House history is odd. See NI050154
Lots of companies set up 2004/5; dissolved 2010-13; nothing since

Enterprising Womens Network NI051682 is a good starting point.

But the case is about SM and the BFF, Prof Boyd's employment status is presumably secure.
Her status as an objective, neutral panel member, however.....

If a panel member has beliefs that are in direct opposition to the claimants beliefs (and relevant to the case) in a case that they are on a panel for, they need to declare a conflict of interest. Not to mention the being part of an organisation involved in the case. It's not her beliefs that is the issue (necessarily) nor her role in the organisation it's her failure to disclose these factors and allow the courts to decide if she is an appropriate panel member given that disclosed conflict.

NC no and if SD wants longer that's fine if it's okay with you
J okay... SD perhaps quarter past?
J okay quarter past 2

[Sheesh....]

Any evidence of recent deletion of social media presence would be pretty damning.

Wonder how one would go about proving this? If you delete an x account, do your posts still appear on other's timelines as 'deleted'?

pronounsbundlebundle · 14/11/2025 14:00

And declaration of any potential conflict is an ongoing thing. So if Boyd wasn't aware that the organisation she has a role in was involved in the emails until she saw the evidence, at that point she should have told the Judge. Which she apparently didn't do.

I'll say it again

pronounsbundlebundle · 14/11/2025 13:48

I knew the judge was overly angry earlier....

She’s calmed down significantly as Naomi started painting her picture of all the pieces of apparent bias.

The problem here isn’t us being late Judge, it’s you hiding bias isn’t it now Judge?

pronounsbundlebundle · 14/11/2025 14:02

I have been in meetings where I have a conflict of interest. I've declared it and been asked to leave the room while a decision is made on the issue where I have a conflict. It's not rocket science, frankly. You need this for fairness in the justice system more than anywhere else.

IANAL. but I think it’s the non disclosure of her involvement (in a very senior role) that is the issue over and above any actual bias she may have. .
