The bit about the order being made and the judge 'almost pleading' the claimant to take down the notices!🤣

NC saying 'take longer' to SD.

She's got the hook line and sinker! 😂

Agree - the fact that NC is saying to the respondent's legal team 'take all the time you need' I would consider, if I were them, an extremely bad sign.

The non-disclosure of a potential conflict is damning. It doesn't matter what her beliefs are. She should have disclosed a potential conflict of interest.

moto748e · 14/11/2025 14:09

But surely, as soon as the names of the panel of the panel were known, wouldn't NC have done a deep dive into them to find out as much as she could? Yet Prof Boyd's views are now presented as a complete surprise, out of the blue?
Or is it that it was something found in email history this morning that made her views more significant? I'm just musing aloud, really.

SigourneyHoward · 14/11/2025 14:10

There is a Professor Deborah Boyd listed as director of the enterprising women's network in Armagh (i think) on CH - stepped down in 2005 so not current but still relevant in terms of declaring a potential conflict I would argue (it related!)

ETA to include Professor-ship

Nope

If she's a Professor, where is her university? that absence on line seems very odd for an academic, as NC points out

NW
NC we say that even if PB's strong views were not known to the panel then you and the panel then knew and we say at that point, if that happened, it was incumbent on you to recuse her or advise her to recuse herself. NC finally - for a foreign academic PB has a strikingly low

I think NW was attacked by autocorrect on this one. Last sentence should read 'for an academic'. Nothing about foreign.

MyrtleLion · 14/11/2025 14:13

Hello again!

Family situation is resolved for now, it was an update.

I am up to date with NW but not this thread or the last one. Happy to paste till court rises. I'm aware we're on a break.

IDareSay · 14/11/2025 14:14

Thanks @MyrtleLion I'll stand down now, we are bang up to date.

SigourneyHoward · 14/11/2025 14:14

Can someone elaborate about the pleading tone from the Judge and the orders as I got a bit lost on all that!

An anonymity order was made for SMs son using correct sex pronouns. The judge apparently was 'almost pleading' the claimant to take down the notices.

NC infers that this is because PB was cross about it.

Hence, judge was well aware of PBs views.

I think that's why there wasn't a deep dive on her. Nothing to see.

From NW

BBC Northern Ireland has been here all week covering the story admirably.

I looked and found nothing. I am usually quite good at research too.

Which is surprising for an academic?

AnnaMagnani · 14/11/2025 14:18

It's bizarre to have a professor you can't google.

This is almost making me being off sick with an asthma attack worthwhile.

I kept finding an award-winning entrepreneur in the environmental area..
I s'pose it could make sense if she was a Green Party member!

ThatDaringMintCritic · 14/11/2025 14:19

Don't panel members have to provide a CV?
