Morning allBrewSmile
Taztoy, I've just been reading your posts on another thread, and combined with what you say here about guiding and supporting your DDs through the minefield of gender ID make me want to tell you YOU ARE A WARRIOR!
[warrior in a good way obvs]

Your DDs are lucky to have you as their mother, and we are lucky to have women like you in the world.

Oh flip. Thanks. Or something 🤣🤣🤣. I didn’t used to be like this I used to be really soft but I just have lost my filter now or something. I’m not really all that.

Every time I open Mumsnet I remember how blindingly bright it is now. That's why I haven't been on much, that and sheer knackeredness. Hopefully both will pass.

MarieDeGournay · 20/09/2025 16:49

Hang in there, Magpie, Rosie is on her way around with hugs, and she's prepared for MN's over- brightness

Looking very cool there Rosie!

MyrtleLion · 20/09/2025 17:02

Latest knitted square. Fair Isle stranding rather than intarsia.

Intarsia knitting means having two or more little balls of wool for each colour, so you knit each section separately. It's neater and easier.

Fair Isle stranding means you knit with one ball of each colour and "float" the stitches along the back between gaps. This version uses intarsia twisting in every stitch so the loose floats don't get caught by fingers and toes.

I've posted front and back so you can see.

That is lovely!!!

AsWithGlad · 20/09/2025 17:19

Very neat weaving-in of the ends of your blue yarn, Myrtle. I can’t see them at all.

I don't really understand the techniques, I never did get the hang of knitting, but I recognise a very neat job when I see one, and that's beautiful work Myrtle!

Thank you! It's teal. I thread the ends under a few stitches then thread back under the last two. Then I snip as close as I can. I used to do counted cross stitch and found it worked well.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 20/09/2025 20:09

Very impressive, Myrtle!

I'm currently in dark mode because of the changes, & it's like swimming through treacle. I'm mostly just whinging about the changes atm.😁But sending you all love.

Sorry to barge in, but what happened with the Edinburgh ET thread that started today? I wondered in any of the saloon bar inhabitants could drop some hints?

I was wondering too - I was writing a post when the thread went down. I didn’t noticed anything obviously wrong with it.

Taztoy · 20/09/2025 20:48

No idea - is it gone?

SionnachRuadh · 20/09/2025 21:02

Luckily I come from that generation where we never felt tempted by mind-bending drugs, because we grew up with weird ass movies like Flash Gordon and Time Bandits and the oddest of them all, Dougal and the Blue Cat.

GORDON’S ALIVE

Swashbuckled · 20/09/2025 21:21

Just spent three hours driving to the coast, mostly through torrential rain. Arrived now and have opened wine and filled a bowl with crisps.

I watched that thread because i thought it was rather odd, the whole i am Bessie mates with a person who is bessie mates with peeps in FWS did not sit right with me.

Hedgehogs, dragons, gerbils, Beetles (of the boiled variety) robots, Capabaya Puffins, and magpies, and other emanations here including the Irish contingent, enjoy a private escape. All new emanations are welcome.

I have heard some gossip that there have been infiltrators or interlopers of ill intent that rarely come here.

Our piano player, (Maude the gerbil) tends to stop playing, when this happens and silence ensues.

the gerbils are hanging around to offer you a seat and a drink of your choice if you want.

But don't expect a warm welcome if you’re on a fishing trip.

AsWithGlad · 21/09/2025 01:29

I didn’t see anything wrong with it, either. But there might have been something offensive in later posts - although why the thread is deleted rather than just the posts I couldn’t say.

Ah thanks @Bannedontherun so Maude went full Peggy Mitchell on the out of towners? That I’d like to have seen.

MarieDeGournay · 21/09/2025 10:58

Please don't hate me for thisWink..
nothing has changed on my screen. Nothing garish or too bright. Laptop+Windows 10.

I'm very sorry you are being blitzed into migraines by the changes on your screens, and I hope MNHQ restores order ASAP.

I'm puzzled about that disappearing thread too, it looked like a good case to take forward - but I assume HQ saw something legally dodgy in it. I tend to accept their caution, even if it's an excess of caution, in cases like this.

Myrtle, your knitting is wonderful, and I can now add 'stranding' and 'intarsia' to my wealth of knowledge that I will never use, but love knowingSmile

MyrtleLion · 21/09/2025 14:04

Progress had been made. I am now able to walk three steps to the ensuite with a crutch and no walking boot at night.

AND I can walk from the bedroom to the living room n the boot without a crutch - about six metres.

I have discovered that trying to knit lace (yarn over, knit 2 together) is probably impossible while drinking. I had to start over about four times and gave up by the end.

The Walrus also provided dark chocolate with sea salt this morning because I mentioned I'd like some last night.

His ability to hear an idle thought of mine and then silently fulfill it and wait for me to notice, is one of my favourite things about him.

Britinme · 21/09/2025 14:15

What a lovely husband the Walrus is!

I also am not experiencing repellent brightness on my iPad or phone or even desktop, just the slight change in colours, which are paler than before if anything.
