IDareSay · 05/09/2025 11:51

These threads are currently being used to follow the case that is taking place at Westminster Magistrate's Court over the 4th and 5th September, but will also be following the subsequent fallout of Graham's arrest at Heathrow on his return to the UK for this court case earlier this week.

He is currently on trial for alleged harassment of a trans identified male and criminal damage to the man's phone. The charges stem from a series of events in October 2024 at Battle of Ideas.

Free Speech Union are running a fundraiser to support a claim against the Met in reference to the Heathrow arrest. Just search FSU and Graham Linehan fundraiser and it should be easy to find. Currently reached 93% of its target.

Most of the mainstream media have reported on the case, but none have covered it as well as Nick Wallis. Follow him on X for live posting from the court.

@glinner was very kind to me when I was very strapped but desperate to know WTF was going in in this whole shebang and gifted me a subscription to his Substack (I didn’t ask). I’ll take a passionate generous creative (even if he’s apparently 8foot tall compared to KJK) in any space, small or large, over an abusive TRA any day.

His passion is what makes his art so wonderful. It also makes his response to bullies a little spicer than I think most women, particularly, would feel like risking. Whatever the outcome of this trial I’ll still keep rewatching IT Crowd and Black Books and Father Ted.

SB can feck off

Oooohhhh....now there's a Christmas gift idea that needs to be commissioned.

It's a pity the Letters of Note guy Shaun Usher is a rampant misogynist/TRA type - going on what he's said on Twitter in the past - as I reckon a Women's Rights special would sell well.

The fun thing is that there is now a month or so for interested people to look into this, before the next sitting of this case.

Brooks seems to be highly interested in keeping details about himself secret. Pursuing a career as a public nuisance may not have been his brightest idea.

That's a lovely thing!

Your 8ft tall comment made me laugh, KJK looked positively pocket sized standing next to him didn't she 😁

I do hope the Defence team will do some investigation into the real background of the complainant. I suspect there is much to learn there. I also think he embarked on his anti-women career before he crossed paths with the likes of Wallace and the Lying Lawyer.

I'm also very concerned about the toll this is taking on Graham, physically and mentally. I won't share my observations here as don't want to give any information to the bottom-feeders who lurk in these waters.

Well hopefully the support he has received this week, after that nonsense arrest, has cheered him.

Agree - it all feels rather messy and under-rehearsed. I'd have hoped Glinner's lawyer would have run such scenarios with him and coached him on how to respond and not rise to the bait.

But maybe I have watched too many American courtroom dramas and that's just not a luxury they have, due to time and budget.

Coaching your client is strictly forbidden this side of the pond!

SlackJawedDisbeliefXY · 05/09/2025 18:31

I do love a barrister that can repeatedly press a witness to try to batter their way to the truth whilst also calling a biological man who claims he is a woman 'she'

Edit: emphasis

Busybeingborn · 05/09/2025 18:31

glinner et al on father ted

want your pizza cut into 6 or 8 slices?
6 - I don’t think I could eat 8

brilliant!
we always have pizza on Friday nights. - cheers Glinner!

Golly, I did not know that - interesting, thanks. I didn't think it would be as complex as those high profile US cases, where you see defence teams setting up mock courtrooms and running defence scenarios past focus groups... I just assumed lawyers did some sort of rehearsal to prepare clients for the witness box. Must be a fine line to tread.

genandtonic · 05/09/2025 18:40

busybeingborn agree, totally brilliant, clever writing.
we always have Glinner on pizza nights! Cheers Glinner!
Your comedy also helped us restablish our family as a three, after our daughter was targeted by a glitter family and estranged herself from us. For which I will always be grateful, thank you.

CriticalCondition · 05/09/2025 18:50

PronounssheRa · 05/09/2025 17:56

Nope. And I'm in rural Cumbria.

I was really surprised how informed people were.

I had dinner last night with rarely seen in-laws who live a couple of hundred miles away. Once we'd caught up on family stuff and moved onto more general 'what's happening in the world' conversation, the first topic they raised was Glinner's outrageous arrest. Definitely in the main stream consciousness.

murasaki · 05/09/2025 18:51

I just read DP the Baroness's letter. He's just about stopped laughing.

Talkinpeace · 05/09/2025 18:56

I just read Wings article to DH.

Oh man the Met have some explaining to do between now and the end of October !!!!

SoftOctoberNight · 05/09/2025 18:57

MTCoffeePot · 05/09/2025 17:30

My goodness! The BBC is giving a glimpse into what Graham has been put through and the pronouns issue. Btw who 'affirms' a gender name?

Yes, I noticed that too. For gods sake, bbc.

murasaki · 05/09/2025 18:59

Dp is well informed (due to me chewing his ear off) but the recent arrest does seem to be making others read around a bit. Which is good.

Allergictoironing · 05/09/2025 18:59

Any particular reason why the BBC keep using that frankly awful picture of @Glinner as their headline photo? It's like they've hunted for the weirdest looking recent one they could find.

Largesso · 05/09/2025 19:02

murasaki · 05/09/2025 14:27

This sounds like what i worried might happen, that GL would talk generally and emotionally rather than about this case. I know they have to establish background, but it needs to be done on a measured manner.

I think he is coming across as really credible because he is just being himself. There’s a rare integrity to that, particularly after SB

QuantumPanic · 05/09/2025 19:04

I know Linehan's answers weren't the most politic and I know that the case must be taking a toll - but they were very funny and I immensely enjoyed reading them. I guess at a certain point you just think f*ck it, may as well be hanged for a sheep as for a lamb.

Oh I agree I just think he is using it as a general platform to express his views , and I don't blame him, but I don't know what the judge will make of it.

I think it doesn’t do him a disservice. He is utterly honest and without filters and this communicates the awfulness so effectively. The lack of dissembling
is rare and to be valued. His he at sense of when he may have gone too far but the back
story and complex make you think no wonder!
