Is it true KJK has been no-platformed by FiLia?

Seen this on a number of threads on facebook, and wondered if it was true?

Well it’s a feminist conference and she says she isn’t a feminist so not sure why they’d consider her? Not sure that counts as no-platforming?

I am just saying it is being circulated as no platforming, and given how wide and liberal the speakers are at FiLia many of them dont claim to be feminist.

They are mainly women with a niche interest or books to publicise, and aren't as such representative of the very wide range of different interpretation of what is important to women.

But also quite ironice as Let Women Speak is now probably the only occassion when women are allowed a voice rather than just the women who are chosen as being allowed a voice.

This just reminds me that I see since FiLia gave up claiming they were about reviving Women's Liberation which they never, were and then moved onto the tamer word feminist, are now badging themselves as a Women's Rights Conference.

The question is not whether they'll give her a platform - of course they won't.

The question is whether they'll have another session Voldemorting her, where the Women In Good Standing give oblique talks which never name the person they're obviously talking about.

This question seems to have been posed ahead of every FiLiA I’ve attended.
KJK doesn‘t really align. The whole point of FiLiA is is to platform lots of women’s issues equally rather than have a few grandstanders especially ones who say openly that they are not feminists. It‘s very much global and left leaning so I would guess KJK hasn‘t been ‚no platformed‘ in some grand gesture but rather that values are v different

I seriously doubt KJK would want to go to FiLiA. They have very, very different vibes.

I don’t think it’s true FiLiA is some kind of elite thing though, definitely not if you go. There’s so many women there from all over the world, and most are grassroots activists doing stuff to do with male violence. It’s not really about the big names, such as they are. I don’t think they are setting themselves up to define what other people must find important or to represent what women’s rights are either - it’s just a gathering of women who care about similar issues. No one is forced to attend!

If FILIA are no platforming her, then I’m done with FILIA. KJK is the only
prominent figurehead who platforms ALL women.

She hasn’t applied to attend or to speak. AFAIK she never has.

This thread is ridiculous. Why on earth would filia invite kjk? They have nothing in common. Kjk is only interested in being the star turn, she wouldn’t in a million years dream of being one of many speakers at filia

Isn't "no-platforming" where an organisation invites someone, then changes its mind and withdraws the invite? AFAIK FiLiA has never invited KJK and she's never wanted to go, so I can't see how that would count as no-platforming.

KJK wouldn’t need to go to Filia - her raison d’être is giving women a platform to speak. She doesn’t need to do that at Filia. However, I imagine a lot of women there would be interested to hear her speak - she has been very successful in making an impact.

But Fiona McAnena is not allowed to present Terf Island there because she included a chapter on KJK. It's all getting a bit silly.

Why are people so determined to foment division and undermine a feminist initiative by obsessing about this one divisive woman? It is incomprehensible to anyone who hasn't followed a range of twitter spats or other online tribal spasms.

She mostly seems to be some kind of celebrity influencer who flogs herself and her politics rather than the usual influencer fare. Every time I read about the splits between her and other feminists on MN it just seems like a version of the Moldies furore rather than genuine feminism.

The funny thing is they are one-sided splits. KJK mows her own path and doesn’t seem to feel the need to align herself with feminists or anyone really. If there is a split it is because those feminists are not going the way she is. Though their path does seem to regularly bring them back alongside her.

Yeah, I have my differences with KJK but her attitude has always been "let a thousand flowers bloom, I'll do my thing and you're more than welcome to do yours". I don't ever remember her criticising Filia - her attitude is probably that it's not really her thing but it does a valuable job.

The issue is that there are certain people involved in Filia who really don't like KJK, so we get this Mean Girls bullshit of speakers making thinly veiled jabs at She Who Must Not Be Named, and apparently you can be excluded if you're perceived as being too friendly to KJK.

It's all very teenage, and takes away from all the good stuff Filia does.

Well, KJK does some good stuff, even though she called a friend of mine on X a “Hamas-loving soc fem” - based on nothing other than her bio stating she’s a socialist & a lesbian (zero pally flags, zero support for Hamas, profoundly anti-rapist) which is frankly irresponsible.

But the biggest international feminist conference in the world always attracts this kind of sniping, plus claims that are… how shall I put it?… hard to verify.

That's disgusting. And obvs someone might have concern for Palestine without being a Hamas supporter, or hating Israel.

I've always got the impression from KJK that she sees herself as superior bc she's conventionally attractive. Childish comments about people who criticise her being jealous of her hair, etc
