Is it true KJK has been no-platformed by FiLia?

Seen this on a number of threads on facebook, and wondered if it was true?

I lost the link to this thread but have refound it and feel a bit guilty starting a thread without double checking the facts. Just like twitter also check a facebook post against others.

So the title I gave to this thread is (I think wrong but could also be true?) but seems to have come from KJK supporting Julia Beck who has been "no platformed".

Not surprising really as AGCL, having tried to enforce such a strict purity line on WPUK that they just stopped, are now well entrenched in FiLia. But the vendetta continues.

So really it is the same old attack on the women they are always going after.

This is her facebook post, well at least the start of it:

This year I was invited by a fellow lesbian feminist to help organize a workshop at FiLiA on compulsory heterosexuality. Now I learn that FiLiA cannot allow me to be a part of this workshop, because in 2019 I spoke at the Heritage Foundation. The argument goes that FiLiA has taken a clear anti-racist stance, and my participation as a speaker would endanger FiLiA's anti-racist stance in Brighton, where the political climate is difficult, because I have failed to publicly distance myself from the Heritage Foundation. Unfortunately I haven't broadcasted any political views - or any change in political views, for that matter - in the public domain proving beyond a doubt that my political views are actually anti-racist and anti-right. To my (ignorant) surprise, I am still enough of a public figure to be dis-invited from speaking on feminist platforms. So let me shout into the void what is now likely an overdue public statement, as The Public Figure Julia Beck.

So in fact stretches back past the Elephant workshop thread on FWR to the fall out when some UK feminist went to support US feminists who shared a stage with the Heritage Foundation.

Question?

Should I ask MNHQ to change thread title?

Is it okay to reproduce all facebook post.

Sorry for not fact checking Blush

Holidayholiday2025 it is quite clear you do agree with Trump that ‘gender affirming’ mastectomies for children should be banned. It is also quite clear that you have been desperately trying to avoid saying so because you know such an agreement is exactly the sort of statement you use to make spurious accusations that others are ‘far right’ or ‘supporting rapists’.

IwantToRetire · 30/08/2025 19:22

If you are on facebook the comments to this statement are really good and interesting raising lots of points.

And the fact that WDI are having an "alternative"(?) or side meeting around the corner from FiLia. Have now fact checked.

It is about another "excluded" speaker from a previous FiLia https://womensdeclarationinternational.telltix.com/events/womensdeclarationinternational/1738199 called excluded but silenced

It wasn't introduced because of the work women did, including many MNers, to oppose it. The Tories thought it would go through easily.

And then realised there were problems and stopped it.

Please don't belittle all the work, money, time and sacrifices women here put into standing against Self ID, I'm ordering to pretend the Tories are to be congratulated for Self ID being quashed.

It took a huge amount of effort from women from all sides of the political spectrum to get to that point.

Edited

And yet Labour voted for Self ID in Scotland.

Sigh.

My point on this, if you read back, is that both left and right have a misogyny problem, and it's not correct to say the left are fully for self-ID. Plenty of the left are not. Plenty of the right wing are.

It's why women have had to come together to work cross-party on this.

Excuse me? I've been on MN the best part of 2 decades and I'm expressing my genuinely held views. How am I trolling?

If you think I'm a troll, please do go ahead and report me to MN.

And yet all Labour MSPs voted for it, as did all Greens and Lib Dem’s, and all but two Conservatives MSPs voted against and one of the two who voted for has since switched to the Lib Dems.

(Fortunately the Conservative government then stepped in to stop it)

I remember exactly why some GC feminists dont like her. It started because she said she doesn't like to see young school girls in a hijab. I think primary school girls.

Saw Julia's post on FB. KJK just highlighted it in an obtuse way on X. Also in reference to Sheila Jefferies and Fiona McAnena's (Sex Matters) book. That's apparently led to a side event in Brighton at the same time as Filia. 🤷‍♀️

I don't think there is any need to change the title.

Is Claire still running FiLiA? If so, I can see why some women are pissed.

Do you think we are all trolling/socks because we are critical of kellie-jay keen? That's really bizarre

I'm not quite sure I understand what's going on. Is Sheila Jeffreys suggesting that she's being excluded from FiLiA because she asked to be a speaker in 2025 and they said no? Which is what that link suggests. I'd always understood that FiLiA had a policy of only letting well known figures appear two or three FiLiAs running, and I think Sheila Jeffreys has been platformed pretty much every single FiLiA so far, so definitely time for her to let someone else take that spot.

Super that she's doing her book launch nearby though as it means lots of women will be local and wanting to do both.

Exactly. I thought the whole point of being GC was the freedom to criticise any idea or person without fear or favour.

No that is not what gender critical means 🤦‍♀️. That is believing in freedom of speech.

Same reason the grooming gangs were allowed to continue , because it was racist to talk about them , let alone arrest them

Apparently Sheila and Fiona of Sex Matters aren't here invited to specific sessions related to both of their books? That's what I'm seeing on X.

SouthWamses · 30/08/2025 23:38

It sounds like there needs to be a fringe event to give women a chance to hear speakers not sufficiently aligned with Filia’s position.
