NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #45

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to last 2 weeks. However, after 2 weeks it was not complete and it adjourned part-heard. It resumed on 16 July and the last day of evidence had been intended to be 28 July with 2 days of submissions from counsel meaning that the hearing was to have ended on 30 July. However, it became apparent as the hearing progressed that this schedule wouldn't be followed. (Considerable understatement.)

The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton gave evidence from Thursday 6 February to Wednesday 12 February.

I think For Lindsey all of this is about her son and feeling protective towards him....given the homophobia in her own family.

I was recently involved in a work investigation. Someone was dismissed, partly due to the content of WhatsApp messages they had sent to colleagues. After their dismissal they appealed and included the full WhatsApp chat showing all participants messages. The others involved who had been happy to supply evidence of the dismissed colleague's messages seemed not to realise that their own contributions could ever actually be seen.

Their faces were what I imagine Lindsey's to be right now. And laughing emojis were very much involved.

Who asked LN to provide all this and to be a witness? They obviously don't care about her being publicly shamed either. This is all rather horrible really. People's private business being aired in public because the NHS agrees to pretend men are women if they say so. What a mess.
