NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #45

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to last 2 weeks. However, after 2 weeks it was not complete and it adjourned part-heard. It resumed on 16 July and the last day of evidence had been intended to be 28 July with 2 days of submissions from counsel meaning that the hearing was to have ended on 30 July. However, it became apparent as the hearing progressed that this schedule wouldn't be followed. (Considerable understatement.)

The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton gave evidence from Thursday 6 February to Wednesday 12 February.

How have they recruited Lindsay as a witness?

She's saying she decided to go to the board with the chats as it was the right thing to do.

But who asked her to?

No. He's entitled to his opinions. If I thought he was making a poor decision I would tell him but he's free to like or dislike people as he wishes.

The hypocrisy is white people being forced to do this stasi performance on each other we are witnessing here.

DU has a history of filing complaints and keeping logs of those who misgender him. Including once by an elderly female patient who referred to him as " son"

At the start of this case we were all concerned that Sandie might not be the person you'd want to sit next to at lunch - but regardless of what views she held in her private life she didnt seem to take them into work. Also everyone is entitled to a fair process and it didnt seem to be. We've found out since just how much worse it was than we could have imagined.

Sandie's reputation is suffering but do is Fife's. They havent investigated these claims. Not sure the witness realises that she and her mate are also possibly going to be investigated for failure to report.

If someone made jokes like that to me I certainly would not have gone on holiday with them.

Yeah, I've known an actual lesbian mother to say she hopes her daughter doesn't grow up gay. Which sounds terrible if you don't know it was in the context of a conversation about how tiny the lesbian dating pool is and how difficult it can be to find a partner.

This is rancid stuff. Go after the claimant if you like, but her family should be out of bounds.

I think LN intended all along to be a witness, pretended to be friends with SP and lurked in the group chat looking for evidence. And shut down anything that could have helped Sandie.

Sad times, I mean really tragic times, maybe the saddest times ever, I haven't looked into it but many people say so 😂
