NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #37

nauticant · 22/07/2025 15:39

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to last 2 weeks. However, after 2 weeks it was not complete and it adjourned part-heard. It resumed on 16 July and the last day of evidence will be 28 July and then there will be 2 days of submissions from counsel meaning that the hearing will end on 30 July.

The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton gave evidence from Thursday 6 February to Wednesday 12 February.

Access to view the hearing remotely was obtainable by sending an email request to [email protected] by 5pm on Wednesday 9 July. Detailed instructions were provided here:

Please read the last few pages of this thread to understand the motivations of @Tandora and where they stand on women’s rights. It’s not pretty and they are chief trolling for those not familiar. It’s gone past a difference of opinion now.

It’s the only one I can be arsed signposting but it’s one of many.

Sandie’s fight thread will prevail again tomorrow. Hopefully.

Then please give them a proper wide berth (my phone corrected this to Beth - cheeky! 😂).

Thread 2: Why can't people respect the rules around toilets!?!? | Mumsnet

Darn it the thread filled and I wanted to ask @tandora a question. Is this within site rules to start another to do this as I don't seem to be able to...

Ok but if you are going to claim that discussing sex is a derail, does that mean everyone is going to stop making claims about what sex is, and how everybody knows what DU’s sex is and how absurd it is that the medical witnesses are making equivocal statements about sex? Because truly it’s lost on me how (reductive/ ideological) claims about sex are part of the discussion, but challenging this with actual science is a derail..?

Put your actual science, which we are yet to see, in the other thread.

What ? How am I trolling and being deliberately antagonistic?? Im participating in a discussion because it’s important. Are we only allowed to talk to people who agree with us these days? Has it ever occurred to you that this type of attitude is exactly the problem.

I’m responding directly to questions asked of me and the discussion at hand.
In no way am I trying to be “aggravating”, and there’s nothing “non-directional” in my posts.

The only thing entirely “unfounded” are your absurd accusations. Troll hunting is against guidelines so I ask that you please stop.

If you don’t like my posts, please move along.

Edited

Putting things in quotation marks doesn’t do anything, and I see you swerved the issue of why you’re doing this.

And you’re quite right - I wasn’t familiar with the term troll-hunting, but MN doesn’t like it…they say because it encourages them. They’d much rather they were just reported instead. Fair enough.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/07/2025 00:26

Noting the post count is over 950 and the time maybe we’d best all knock it off for the night be it sex, celeriac, cricket or the actual case?

Peregrina · 23/07/2025 00:28

Strange how not a single person who is certain what woman doesn't mean has the slightest idea what it does mean.

Unless of course, it's a man who says he's a woman, and then they know exactly what it does mean. Although it seems to mean a pretty frock of a style that no girl over six would wear, long hair, and slapped on makeup, plus high heels.

Here you go @Tandora a whole new thread for you to discuss that to your heart's content. Now give @nauticant a break and stop spamming the tribunal threads on the subject.

Excellent idea. Nauticant’s thread are for the SP case not debating the usual define sex/gender bollocks

Oh, nauticant has already set up thread 38, bless her.

I know it's a waste of thread space... but OTOH people who are finding out more about the issue read these threads, and it helps to see why such arguments are disingenuous bunk by seeing them taken apart. The likes of Tandora do everyone a kind of Socratic service by showing what irrational pseudoscientific reachery is cobbled together to defend GI. It's a bit like the "science" of creationism.

Biological sex is a multidimensional variable with various components.

Oh fuck, where on earth will I find a TARDIS to cart my multidimensional sex about in at this time of night?

Yes, I think it might help newbies to this kind of stuff to see that the GI crowd are failing to answer valid questions.

Yes totally agree. I’ve said many times Tandora does the heavy lifting for us. They do more for our rights than they know. The majority won’t be convinced by any mental notion Tandora comes out with. Can’t argue with crazy.

I just feel for those just trying to stick to the topic at hand and I realise I’m contributing to this but it’s difficult to hold my water. So I’m sorry to those who don’t want to encourage Tandora and their ilk.

moto748e · 23/07/2025 00:40

I imagine a lot of posters speculate, at some point, how many people out there are following this thread, but never commenting? I don't know the stats, but I think MN has a pretty big audience.

pollyglot · 23/07/2025 00:47

@SternlyMatthews

The defensive phrasing amounts to an error under pressure as she tried to tiptoe between the Scylla of non disclosure & the Charybdis of collusion.

This is hands-down the best sentence I have ever read on MN - and possibly ever ever.

May I borrow it, Sternley? Please?

maltravers · 23/07/2025 01:00

Largesso · 22/07/2025 19:27

It might seem to start late and finish early but there is work they are doing outwith the hearing. After 4 they don’t finish. J will be reviewing his notes and reviewing orders and matters of procedure and all sorts of admin. The legal teams need to review and prepare etc etc. the fact that there are so many issues needing dealt with in the morning can be laid squarely at the door of NHS Fife.

I didn’t mean to criticise the judge, there is clearly a lot going on behind the scenes. If however the witnesses are only going to be questioned for 3-3.5 hours per working day, progress will be slow, more so if the Rs counsel is constantly chipping in and interrupting when NC is doing cross examination.

BeLemonNow · 23/07/2025 01:03

I am a little worried that the tribunal won't finish in time, like in February.

Off topic, but requested earlier (sorry, can't remember the poster, it was 2 long pages ago).

If you have a random collection of ingredients and need a recipe to use them up, download the Supercook app (free). It's a green spoon in a pinky purple cape, white background. You add the ingredients you have in the house to your 'pantry', and then the app suggests every possible recipe you can make using them. You can search by ingredient to use up, cuisine type or even meal type.

Saves a fortune, uses up what you have and prevents food waste.

Saved me having to go out food shopping today, did pantry Greek beans.

Thank you! Looks good

I'm not convinced celeriac is an actual foodstuff. What's the point of it?

You're forced to eat the wretched stuff if you're on a keto diet as a highly unsatisfying substitute for potato!

HTH😂

But in this somewhere is a new email found SINCE Feb as that was why there was discussion about KS only finding it in the last couple of months I think. And iirc we haven't previously heard the quote about foot in mouth (although I missed the longer quote or context of that remark)

So I think your timeline is a bit correct but that instead of the email being discussed today and with the sneaky signals of being part of a chain bit that chain missing bits being the smoking gun email from Feb, it's a newer disclosure.

Edited

Thanks for this. But I don’t quite get the significance of the newest mail being part of the chain.

Obviously not initially disclosing it looks terrible for Fife, and the colluding 6, but if the rest of the chain demonstrates the 6 of them colluding, the initial mail being more blunt about that, isn’t really that much worse. What am I missing?

FallinUltra · 23/07/2025 01:11

Also, Danish meatballs in a white sauce celeriac stew with lemon and parsley, eaten with buttered rye bread, is a gorgeous Danish winter dish.

POWNewcastleEastWallsend · 23/07/2025 01:11

Yesterday I made an error. I thought these were NHS Fife Equality Impact Assessments and Risk Assessments that the Lock Ness Monster coughed up when Maya Forstater did her Citizen's Arrest

Revealed today in the Tribunal that they are actually emails from medics, shared strictly on a "need to knuckle‑dust a nurse" basis.

I don't think its in Fifes interests to keep calling more witnesses.
Every one they have called has made the hole bigger.

Big Sond isn't going to be impressed that they haven't disclosed those emails for the second time.

Unless their IT dept pull it out the bag and throw the whole lot of them under a tank. That can be the only thing that will save the person at the tops backside!

It obviously isn’t like potato, but given that you’re not ever going to be allowed that on a keto diet it’s fine as what it is 😂

The first email must have something in it the 6 of them colluded in. Something that is really really damaging to them all.

They've had two chances to cough it up. They've clearly discussed it with the comment that KS made.
