NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #34

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to last 2 weeks. However, after 2 weeks it was not complete and it adjourned part-heard. It resumed on 16 July and the last day of evidence will be 28 July and then there will be 2 days of submissions from counsel meaning that the hearing will end on 30 July.

The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton gave evidence from Thursday 6 February to Wednesday 12 February.

I'm having (yet another) a WTF moment watching this.

Millions of people around the world are following a tribunal that is about a woman telling a man he shouldn't be in a women's changing room.

It blows my mind how far NHS Fifes head was up their arse.

So CM was briefed for the suspension review with a rundown of the defamatory hearsay, but no documents. No statements from both parties on the original incident, no statement of the reason for the suspension decision.

Re just scrolling past the irrelevant posts, I know there will always be a bit of chat but you filled 12 pages with soup and snibs while waiting for today's session to start. That's over quarter of a thread, and puts a much greater burden on poor nauticant than necessary (as well as those trying to catch up).

With regard to FoE - stop and think.
Firstly there are accusations/hearsay that SP has said things that are racist, homophobic, a Trump supporter etc.

Secondly Maya’s EAT did say their were limits on expressing GC beliefs in the workplace.

Both SP and DrU appear to have been limited in what they say at work I.e. obeying the FoE rules. In the CM is saying SP hasn’t breached FoE at work.
