NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #4

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 January 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks.

I’m three pages behind, but this is jaw dropping. It sounds to me as if a confrontation was something he was actively waiting for. I hope the judge can see that.

We had a trans man working with us - nice person and we have gender neutral toilets anyway, so no issues.

But none of us regarded them as male - and I always suspected they didn't either as they made no attempt to pass.

Is DU trying to suggest that it was 'confusing' that someone was not happy to have a fully male body in the room as they change?

Patient short of breath - accepted patient at end of shift thinking he had time to get them into a better condition before handover for day shift.

I definitely think he's been briefed, perhaps by the BMA, before he even started at the hospital.

I genuinely can't decide whether JRs new found and hitherto never heard soft voice is more or less irritating than DU weird soft voice and upward inflection about absolutely everything.

It’s pretty clear DU was harassing SP from this. He couldn’t wait to get proof of something against her IMO

It's horrendous isn't it. Because the little woman didn't stay and happily see me in my pants/let me see her in her pants I'm going to stamp my feet and complain!

They can't be witnesses. They can't be observers or they wouldn't be on camera.

What is their role?

You can't force women to act a certain way or enforce them to share spaces so even if this person is sad women cannot and should not be made to validate anyone.
