Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 January 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks.

Access to view the hearing remotely can be obtained by sending an email request to [email protected] headed Public Access Request (Peggie v Fife Health Board) 4104864/2024 and requesting access.

How on earth can the judge suddenly manage to make handwritten notes at this speed of talking, compared to how slowly he asked the women to go? What has changed?

JR arguing with the judge again

He says he was worried he'd be cornered, he'd be attacked.

Reminds me of when them from Stonewall with the support dog, mum, IT guy, lawyer and friend, claimed that them was afraid that if they had any Stonewall meetings at Garden Court Chambers, Allison Bailey would be lurking in the women's toilets and beat up any men with lady-feelz that entered. Because it's sooo likely that a 50-something year old woman barrister would do that...

Absolute spanners.

Apparently you can't move in the big London sets for women barristers beating people up. 😫

ArabellaScott · 06/02/2025 15:43

JR happy to move on.
Judge: 'the argument is it's irrelevant, why do you see it as relevant?'

CriticalCondition · 06/02/2025 15:43

NC interrupts and asks what is the relevance of this line of questioning. Very, very long pause by JR.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/02/2025 15:43

And JR can't answer why relevant...

Judges handwritten notes probably consist of nothing but 'FFS' Grin

Mmmnotsure · 06/02/2025 15:43

ArabellaScott · 06/02/2025 15:42

NC interrupts to say it's not clear the relevance of this line of questioning

And when JR says we'll move on the J asks are you really sure???

ThatPithySheep · 06/02/2025 15:43

Come on JR. Why is this pointless line of questioning worth going with?

ArabellaScott · 06/02/2025 15:43

JR: in my skeleton argument, the only harassment that has occured is that which has been meted out by the claimant ot he respondent.

fanOfBen · 06/02/2025 15:43

JR trying to just move on, J pushing for an argument about why it's relevant. Interesting. To do with whether the panel should disregard that line of questioning?

ArabellaScott · 06/02/2025 15:44

Objecting to the anonymity has caused distress

CriticalCondition · 06/02/2025 15:44

Judge not having it. Insists JR answers the question.

'I'm a fairly private person'
'I don't like people having hostile conversations about me'
'I don't want to leave my flat'
'I don't want photographs taken of me'
'I've been off work since the Monday after'
'It's very difficult for me to live my life normally at the moment'
'I feel incredibly anxious at the moment'

Not private enough to GAF about taking his clothes off in front of women in a women's changing room though....

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/02/2025 15:44

So Sandie is now responsible for all social media, and asking for the anonymity order to be denied is harassment...

ArabellaScott · 06/02/2025 15:44

cannot hear the J

murasaki · 06/02/2025 15:44

IF JR winds up the judge, that can only be a good thing.

teawamutu · 06/02/2025 15:44

The whining OH GOD the WHINING.

Bringing the case is, in JR's submission, harassment in itself. Give me fucking strength.

PoshCoffee · 06/02/2025 15:45

FML.
Everyone is entitled to legal redress. SR is pathetic for asking about how upset he is about this case.

chilling19 · 06/02/2025 15:45

The backlash is not a reason for Sandie to defend herself surely?

SelfPortraitWithHagstone · 06/02/2025 15:45

Ooh, negative and hostile social media activity! Including circulating his old name and photo... 🙄

ArabellaScott · 06/02/2025 15:45

'I've been informed people are circulating information - my deadname, old photographs - an atttempt to demean my experience and wider experience of trans people, an attempt to invalidate my experience and by extension that of other trans people'

NotAGentleReminder · 06/02/2025 15:45

ArabellaScott · 06/02/2025 15:40

Gosh, how on earth has this situation come about?
