NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #4

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 January 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks.

He had a phased return after being off for two months

A phased return from sick leave and now has been off sick since 13th January

He targeted her, or this wouldn't be happening.

8 weeks off work, phased return after that.

Been off sick since, related to this incident. Been off since 13th of January. One month, until now.

He's been off sick for how long?

He's been off sick for all this time??!!

Two fucking months off sick because someone stated the fucking obvious to him. Fuck sake.

His complaints about Sandie seem to boil down to her staying in the room with him, not staying in the room with him, looking at him too long, not looking at him at all, and asking him about his chromosomes. I cannot believe either that he actually went to management with this and that management took the complaint seriously. My understanding of hospitals is they can be bullying and hierarchical places - look at all those stories about female surgeons being sexually harassed by male colleagues. It is just extraordinary that such a trivial complaint - non-complaint - would lead to a nurse being suspended.

Was 13th Jan when the ruling came in about anonymity by any chance?

I'd guess everyone, or at least all the women. Probably tabbed files for easy access.

April 2024 he was informed about legal action ...

legal office wanted to speak to him about it ...

had a conversation with manager of the board ...

she told him that claimant would be returning to work

And throughout all this we are paying this man's salary folks.

Shouldn't be anywhere near a health setting if his feefees are that fragile.

I do really worry that she is going to lose this because she called him a man to his face.

Even though biologically and legally he is a man.

He had a panic attack at the thought of working with her again? How does he cope with day to day life?

Then we go to appeal and hope for a Scottish version of Forstater?
