nauticant · 06/02/2025 11:39

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 January 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks.

Access to view the hearing remotely can be obtained by sending an email request to [email protected] headed Public Access Request (Peggie v Fife Health Board) 4104864/2024 and requesting access.

'I felt targeted'

Boiledbeetle · 06/02/2025 15:32

Course it was personal mate you were the only man in the women's changing rooms

I could never be a lawyer. I'm always impressed by how calm NC stays whereas I'd want to just be rolling my eyes and sighing a lot at all the bollocks DrU is spouting

You mean like RMW was suspected of doing at a famous trial? Remember that?

Boiledbeetle · 06/02/2025 15:33

He had a phased return after being off for two months

PoshCoffee · 06/02/2025 15:33

A phased return from sick leave and now has been off sick since 13th January

murasaki · 06/02/2025 15:33

He targeted her, or this wouldn't be happening.

ArabellaScott · 06/02/2025 15:33

8 weeks off work, phased return after that.

Been off sick since, related to this incident. Been off since 13th of January. One month, until now.

Appalonia · 06/02/2025 15:33

He's been off sick for how long?

TWETMIRF · 06/02/2025 15:33

He's been off sick for all this time??!!

teawamutu · 06/02/2025 15:33

Two fucking months off sick because someone stated the fucking obvious to him. Fuck sake.

RoyalCorgi · 06/02/2025 15:34

His complaints about Sandie seem to boil down to her staying in the room with him, not staying in the room with him, looking at him too long, not looking at him at all, and asking him about his chromosomes. I cannot believe either that he actually went to management with this and that management took the complaint seriously. My understanding of hospitals is they can be bullying and hierarchical places - look at all those stories about female surgeons being sexually harassed by male colleagues. It is just extraordinary that such a trivial complaint - non-complaint - would lead to a nurse being suspended.

WFTCHTJ · 06/02/2025 15:34

Was 13th Jan when the ruling came in about anonymity by any chance?

Boiledbeetle · 06/02/2025 15:34

ThatPithySheep · 06/02/2025 15:31

He was 100% looking for a fight and if it hadn't been SP he'd have kept going until someone said No. I wonder how many others he kept notes on in the anticipation that he could make a complaint

I'd guess everyone, or at least all the women. Probably tabbed files for easy access.

ArabellaScott · 06/02/2025 15:34

April 2024 he was informed about legal action ...

legal office wanted to speak to him about it ...

had a conversation with manager of the board ...

she told him that claimant would be returning to work

'I found that very dfficult' that massively increased my anxiety ... afraid of further incidents or communication with [the respondent]'

CriticalCondition · 06/02/2025 15:34

And throughout all this we are paying this man's salary folks.

ArabellaScott · 06/02/2025 15:35

'couldn't eliminate chance of running into claimant'
'all too much, had a panic attack, phoned in sick'

Lougle · 06/02/2025 15:35

Where has the blonde, curly-haired supporter gone, I wonder?

teawamutu · 06/02/2025 15:35

Shouldn't be anywhere near a health setting if his feefees are that fragile.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 06/02/2025 15:35

I do really worry that she is going to lose this because she called him a man to his face.

Even though biologically and legally he is a man.

Appalonia · 06/02/2025 15:35

He had a panic attack at the thought of working with her again? How does he cope with day to day life?

BunfightBetty · 06/02/2025 15:36

ArabellaScott · 06/02/2025 15:32

'I felt targeted'

Because YOU were the arsehole bloke in the women's changing room, you fucking muppet!!

That's to Dr Numpty, @ArabellaScott , not you!

I've been tied up all day and only dipped in for a quick look-see and already my blood is boiling and I need to get back to work and concentrate...

Thanks to all of you making notes, so we can catch up.

ThatPithySheep · 06/02/2025 15:37

Did the legal team in NHS Fife really say this was worth doing?

teawamutu · 06/02/2025 15:37

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 06/02/2025 15:35

I do really worry that she is going to lose this because she called him a man to his face.

Even though biologically and legally he is a man.

Then we go to appeal and hope for a Scottish version of Forstater?

AnnaMagnani · 06/02/2025 15:37

There are literally no words for this.

Appalonia · 06/02/2025 15:37

I'd be embarrassed to admit I was this unable to cope with life.
