NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board - thread #2

1000 replies

nauticant · 04/02/2025 11:37

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 January 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks.

Maybe 3 months unless it's settled out of court. Maybe longer

The heating wasn't working

Ah, makes sense

Harassedevictee · 04/02/2025 16:05

I wonder if the Darlington hospital is watching this and by the end might be thinking we need to settle?

Cailleach1 · 04/02/2025 16:12

Whatever the outcome, SP is an admirable and very courageous woman. I wouldn’t be surprised a man being allowed to create such an oppressive atmosphere on women’s lives, day in and day out, would give rise PTSD. Nowhere for women to turn, knowing the management are rooting for him being able to do it, and indifferent at best to women’s boundaries being ridden roughshod over. Indeed, you’re a witch if you call it out for what it is.

Bannedontherun · 04/02/2025 16:16

Did anyone else notice that the judge wanted to discuss things with JR?

Wonder what that was about….

borntobequiet · 04/02/2025 16:23

Nice to see this at the top of Trending (I may have only just noticed it).

Chrysanthemum5 · 04/02/2025 16:31

Im not defending DrU but he is a recent graduate and I wonder how much of his sense of entitlement has been driven by the culture in our universities? That trans is special and anyone who doesn't immediately affirm you in your preferred gender is a bigot who wants you to suffer. These people have been fed lies and made to fear everyone which is creating a generation who simply cannot accept that their needs are not always paramount.

Personally I'd say that's a poor attitude for a medic but it does seem that he felt anyone who wasn't for him was against him.

Cerial · 04/02/2025 16:31

100% agree. Seems trans students get accolades, grants and special treatment & everything because they are so brave.

Where non-trans students, are so ordinary & no-one in faculty cares.

Yes, if nothing else, he didn't invent this particular set of values himself.

Not super relevant to the case, but the tribunal is about a hospital in Fife, it's being managed by the Edinburgh employment tribunal (Lothian) in a court in Dundee (Tayside) whose heating is controlled from Glasgow (Greater Glasgow and Clyde)? What is this nonsense?

Women are responsible for their husband’s Facebook posts now are they?

It's one or more of the basic rules of misogyny, iirc.

  • Women are responsible for what men do.
  • Women saying no to men is a hate crime.
  • Women speaking for themselves are exclusionary and selfish.
  • Women’s opinions are violence against men, thus male violence against women is justified.
  • Women and Feminism must be useful to men or they are worthless.
  • Women who go around being female AT men by menstruating and breastfeeding babies deserve punishment.
  • Women should always be grateful to men for everything.
  • Men are whatever men say they are and women are whatever men say they are.
  • Men always know the “real reasons” for everything women do and say.
  • The worst thing about male violence is that it makes men look bad.
  • Whatever women suffer from, it is worse when it happens to men.
  • Women’s ability to recognize male behavior patterns is misandry.
  • Angry women are crazy. Angry men have trouble expressing themselves.
  • Women have all the rights they need: The right to remain silent.
  • Men are the default human. Women are strange subhuman others.
  • Everyone owns and controls women’s bodies except the women themselves.
  • Men are better at performing femininity than women are because they invented it and it gives them a [frisson].

@Chrysanthemum5 @Cerial @MotionIntheOcean awe bless you three, the last shift for a peaked GC is to start to put women before the poor me person tis the hardest step - let go of your natural empathy, he is an entitled bastard who set a nurse up who before he rode into town had an exemplary record.

AnnaMagnani · 04/02/2025 16:41

I think he absolutely got it from university, along with a distorted idea of how easy it would be. And the whole 'feeling safe' 'safe spaces' nonsense.

Recent graduate of medicine. From the school years it's plausible there was a previous degree/career or Upton may have been a mature student.

Apologies if I've misunderstood.

You would think that the type of person with the intelligence, determination, dedication and good character to get into medical school would be able to deploy those qualities to resist the counterfactual idiocy of genderism.
But it seems not.

I know a fair few doctors who are fully bought in to the 'trans are the most underprivileged people in society' rubbish.

Funnily enough, most nurses have no time for this apart from a few 'be kind' types.

You are kidding. I studied A Level history and I've always remembered that the largest professional group of people in Germany to support the Nazi eugenics programme were Drs. More Drs supported Nazi eugenics than any other social/professional group.

Obviously not all Drs are crazed eugenicists (or supporting of trans ideology) and in no way am I trying to insinuate they are. But just because someone is a Dr doesn't mean they are a) not a nutter, b) automatically a good person.

I really want to see a photo of the Trans Doctor….

All the photos I've seen have been pre-transition.

If post-transition he still looks very much male, then in some respects it's easier to argue that he should not be accessing the female changing room.

But what if has now altered his appearance sufficiently that he now 'passes'. Some will argue that he should therefore be able to access female single sex facilities. But it doesn't change the crux of the issue, which is that he is still male and women have a right to female-only spaces.

So what I'm trying to say is that his current appearance will sway people's view of this, but it shouldn't because his sex hasn't changed.
