NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board - thread #2

1000 replies

nauticant · 04/02/2025 11:37

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 January 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks.

Only women who are pure enough are allowed human rights, apparently.

Not quite, I think the Righteous view is that women who are pure enough do not need human rights. Because women who have sufficiently pure beliefs understand that they are not fully human, but are partially sentient service bipeds for the desires of the actual people.

A nurse suspended for objecting to a transgender woman doctor using female changing rooms has admitted being guilty of harassment under workplace policies, but denied comparing the doctor to convicted rapist Isla Bryson, a tribunal heard.

Nothing like just making it up as you go along.

myplace · 04/02/2025 17:08

Are there any current photos of Dr Upton, apart from Twitter X? When I search the case, loads of pictures of Sandy pop up.

The BBC article above mentions a comment from SP that she had admiration for Donald Trump. What relevance has that and why does the BBC article choose to mention it? To try and paint a picture of her as some kind of ignorant bigot?

Could not see the relevance.,so are half the American electorate. Does not make you a bigot.

I think women may be responsible for their husband's FB & all social media posts. There was a time when husband and wife were deemed by the law to be one (and that one was the man, naturally, but let's ignore that for now).

As we are rapidly unravelling women's rights, it seems quite fitting that we should go back to that idea but with the modern twist of women taking the burden.

I wonder if the Darlington hospital is watching this and by the end might be thinking we need to settle?

Can anyone remember - which case had the TIM who was discussing his attempt to get his partner pregnant? Was that Darlington?

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 04/02/2025 17:18

I think it was, Weary.

You would think that the type of person with the intelligence, determination, dedication and good character to get into medical school would be able to deploy those qualities to resist the counterfactual idiocy of genderism.
But it seems not.

Actually, they are sometimes the worst.
So certain of their own intellect, so certain of their compassion, so so certain of their own superiority.

Hardened out of any self-doubt that plebs might be right, and they might be hopelessly, publicly wrong.

Yes it was Darlington. I hope they are watching this case (if they have any sense they will be) and see what the reality of running the case will be. Even if they win the publicity will be awful. Men should not be in women’s changing rooms or other single spaces but I think the Darlington case would be worse. Looking at the ta t the hospitals counsel is taking, a number of nurses complained to management, the behaviour of the man is even worse - open rather than covert behaviour, they suggested diversity training.

Hopefully Wes Streeting is watching as well, this will not play well with the public.

DemeraraAbyss · 04/02/2025 17:25

One of the frustrating things with these cases is the fact the claimant’s barrister stays on task and doesn’t get to ask the other side’s witnesses and barristers to account for all their illogical ideology and contradicting point surrounding it.

Datun · 04/02/2025 17:26

I really hope the judges can see the utter misogyny, not to mention stupidity, of claiming that women should be forced to have men in their spaces, because those women's husbands have said something that someone else disagrees with.

Bannedontherun · 04/02/2025 17:27

@DemeraraAbyss Actually they do NC in the ERCC really laid into the trustees to maximum effect.

I think that the Darlington nurses are in a better position because a group of them have come together to support one another. It's much harder to dismiss their concerns.

I think the Darlington case will be worse because of the numbers of women complainants. There was a letter that 26 nurses signed to say they weren't happy sharing with a man. I'm not sure how many of those are bringing the case but there are 4 I think who have gone public. They can't say "but nobody else has come forward it only you who is so difficult and complaining".

BridasShieldWall · 04/02/2025 17:30

Sorry I meant worse as in worse for the hospital - it’s already a shitshow for Fife and I think it will be worse for Darlington hospital.

I'm not surprised about Fife. I've had some positive experiences with Fife NHS - I was born and brought up in Fife - but some bloody awful experiences as well.

I know from a couple of my own experiences that many of the women nurses there are not happy with the way that women are sometimes treated.

WearyAuldWumman · 04/02/2025 17:36

The ratio is quite something, @BridasShieldWall .

All the photos I've seen have been pre-transition.

If post-transition he still looks very much male, then in some respects it's easier to argue that he should not be accessing the female changing room.

But what if has now altered his appearance sufficiently that he now 'passes'. Some will argue that he should therefore be able to access female single sex facilities. But it doesn't change the crux of the issue, which is that he is still male and women have a right to female-only spaces.

So what I'm trying to say is that his current appearance will sway people's view of this, but it shouldn't because his sex hasn't changed.

Yes, you're right. Perception is, if not everything, it's as near as damn it for a lot of people.

Which is why only one side wanted open access to the tribunal. And only one side wanted to use factual pronouns.

If I was one of those judges, it would've already told me almost everything I needed to know.

Wow.
Good to see Fife getting plenty of feedback about their coercive control tactics.
