Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 January 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks.

It's always the same technique isn't it? Smear the woman as difficult, awkward, unkind, a bit mental, and so on. That's all they have really.

What's JR on about now?

Harassedevictee · 04/02/2025 15:24

So why is there no supervisor on night shift?

Boiledbeetle · 04/02/2025 15:26

JR Charlotte believed too risky to be on shifts with Upton

FFS!

legalimmigrant · 04/02/2025 15:26

Ah more BBC lies and anti-woman disinformation I see.

fanOfBen · 04/02/2025 15:27

I missed something, why is SP supposed to have needed support, if she wasn't working the same shifts as DU?

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 04/02/2025 15:27

Because part of the complaint was about 'patient care'.

fanOfBen · 04/02/2025 15:28

hmm, ah, thanks

Boiledbeetle · 04/02/2025 15:28

question Assuming SP had agreed to change to day shift what were the hospital planning on doing if another transwoman started working the day shift? Just keep moving her? Until she submitted!

Boiledbeetle · 04/02/2025 15:30

S P says not worried about being sacked as she's done nothing to be sacked for.

Boiledbeetle · 04/02/2025 15:31

JR moves on to next mind numbing point.

oldwomanwhoruns · 04/02/2025 15:31

Even if on reversed shifts, wouldn't they cross over in the changing room perhaps?? Am I being thick?

Gallstoned · 04/02/2025 15:33

which court is it?

Scout2016 · 04/02/2025 15:33

Just catching up. In relation to the biogot and racist line of questioning... what's her point? Say I were actually racist. Does that mean I should lose my right to SSS and it's fine for men to undress in front of me?
Does it matter why I don't want to get changed with a man, or have a man in my space when I need to sort my period out?
It's trying to undermine SP by pushing the the "wrong type of victim" mentality - the "she was drunk and unladylike in a short skirt" so she's lost sympathy, that attitude.

Not that I think at all that SP is a racist or biogot. I'm just pissed off with the questioning.

Different court but Edinburgh sorting access

I am intrigued to read that the tribunal is expected to last two weeks. This issue could be replicated in workplaces up and down the country so surely national leadership/law is needed?

Are men allowed in women's changing rooms or not? That is surely what it boils down to and two weeks of examining the ins and outs of these people as individuals doesn't really help the broader issue. There just needs to be a clear national decision - is it OK for men (the ones born with penises) to use women's changing rooms, toilets, prisons, hospital wards etc etc. Personalities shouldn't come into it. I'm hoping the answer is no.

Indeed!
I would like a journalist in a mainstream paper to make this point as succinctly as this.

So an accusation was made about patient care - I'm assuming that becuase DrU felt SP were ignoring him then she was putting patients at risk by not following his instructions? That's a pretty serious claim I hope DrU had actual evidence for that

He made notes in his phone, which is totally sufficient! quite how that messed with his care of patients is not asked.

Boiledbeetle · 04/02/2025 15:37

JR going through someone's leave per month, don't know if SP or beth

Only women who are pure enough are allowed human rights, apparently.

Boiledbeetle · 04/02/2025 15:38

Was it the HR person who was off?

Neither - the HR person hence the length of time taken for the process

I think JR said yesterday it was to do with SP instructing BU to do obs (or similar), when that would usually be 'a nurses job.'

Of course I'm sure there must be much MUCH more to it than that.
