NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board - thread #2

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 January 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks.

@Boiledbeetle SP needed to be kind and move shift/job. Rather than just scheduling her and DU to different shifts. Not that hard.

JR now on to SP being the only person to complain. SP corrects to only person to complain to management.

Presumably a (very) Junior Doctor has to work lots of shifts per week, not the same 2?

So the hospital's answer was to get SP to change jobs. Didn't it even occur to them to tell U to go to the correct changing for his sex??

At least they've worked out how to mute observers now. Can't believe it took them x2 days.

That doesn't look right!! Basically SP should suck up her discomfort rather than Beth be made to feel uncomfortable.

If people are expected to use the facilities that match their gender identity then why are there only male and female facilities? It's very transphobic to only validate 2 genders when there are lots of others getting ignored

Such a shame Sandie is the only one who complained as it's so easy for them to point the 'bigot' finger at her.

She is so brave. Seeing the way she is being treated I am not at all surprised that noone else felt able to formally complain.

The thing is, if the question was 'should male staff be allowed to get changed in the female changing room,' the answer would be a clear and unequivocal no. Even the most ardent female TRA's I know are firm that men should not be in female only spaces because they are dangerous to women.

And yet somehow, they also insist that there are some men who are not like other men in such a way that this basic rule cannot be applied to them, despite the fact that they're exactly the same as all the other men, what with them being, you know, men.
