Beautiful work, gerbils! And marvellous photography by Android 😍

FuzzyPuffling · 14/12/2024 20:00

I love the little posh drunk gerbils! 😃

A colly bird has to be black, surely. Isn't that what it means?

Indeed. @DrBlackbird arrived at just the right time!

The AI clearly has the bit between its teeth and is getting carried away now!

lcakethereforeIam · 14/12/2024 21:24

Oh my Gawd. I need all those felt Christmas decorations 😍

Why are we wasting AI on crap like developing new drugs when it can do stuff like that!?

Also, drunken posh gerbils and Maggin ❤️

Happy birthday Woley CakeFlowersGin

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius, a (sadly, now late) friend from my knitting group made those felt 12 Days of Christmas decorations. Beautiful. She had been on a Royal School of Needlework embroidery course and taken at least one City and Guilds exam.

I got as far as buying the dedicated kit to make them (wool felt, beads etc) from Cloudcraft. I thought I might manage to sew one a year but I haven’t even bought the patterns yet.

I have bought other felt from there to make simpler tree decorations, though.

I see the lab creations are now employed behind the bar.

The gerbils didn't want to wake me, but eventually they drew straws.

Poor sods are rather chilly.

Get us all a small sherry each lab creation bar keep

Boily, good to see you!
Is the lab created barkeep the quid pro quo for the AI spelling Bluestocking correctly?

The gerbils have gone off to get warm (AI is ignoring you, Boily!).

Meanwhile the AI has gone off piste again with its 'bowls, bowls, Africa, Africa', 'ethnically ambiguous' yet again, 'Sheepinke Christmas' & 'LARGE GERTELS'.

How can gerbils NOT be ethnically ambiguous? They're just gerbils.

Just tried again. Still no beetle. Bluestocking spelt correctly. But something's not right...

They're not ethnically ambiguous though, they're Mongolian.

If Boily is still in the old pub, who is the beetle (sporting various carapaces and headgear) in the photos at 0:25? Colin particularly likes the iridescent jade green version.

I'm sure there's a good explanation… Something to do with time travel, and possibly avatars?

And hello to @DrBlackbird! Always happy to meet another highly educated avian!

Hello back @Magpiecomplex! Especially avians with glossy black coats! I’m relieved that the music is just the right sound level. There to hear if you listen but not drowning out the pleasant hubbub of Christmas conversations. Just perfect.

Edited to add that I’m loving the felt tree decorations… Is one… a blackbird? Ohhh I really need one for my Christmas tree!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 15/12/2024 01:24

the felt tree decorations… Is one… a blackbird?

It was in honour of your arrival on the thread. Sadly, the AI doesn't know what a blackbird is: it keeps making them into robins & only occasionally outputs a real one accidentally. This one took 12 tries.

DeanElderberry · 15/12/2024 07:26

@AsWithGlad , thank you for saying the magic words 'wool felt'. I make felt doves for my Christmas tree (I top up with a few each year to replace ones eaten by cats or otherwise ravaged) and modern cheap stuff is so hard and generally nasty. I've now found a source in Ireland for wool/viscose felt and will order some for this year's ones. I have some old blue felt and can make a few stockings in the meantime.

DeanElderberry · 15/12/2024 07:32

I'm a little worried about AI stuffing gerbils (and booze bottles) behind the mantel over a blazing fire? Is that how the red-jumpered one in the image posted at 22.57 lost its other leg?

Boiledbeetle · 15/12/2024 09:19

<sneezes>
<coughs up left lung>
<sneezes again>

I've been locked in the store room for everybody's safety. Can someone send a gerbil or quokka through in full hazmat with a new box of tissues, some chicken soup and a bottle of buttercup?

< Checks Cake isn't looking... pets Catherine the shrew>

<OW!>

And some plasters, I have acquired a nasty bite on my finger.

Poor Boily! I hope you soon recover from your...'sneek bod cold'BrewBrewBrew

FuzzyPuffling · 15/12/2024 09:48

There's nothing worse than a Sneek Bod Cold. Get well soon.

DeanElderberry · 15/12/2024 09:52

Poor Boily. I've instructed the gerbils to stud lemon slices with cloves to have them available for when you want a hot whiskey. Or in case anyone else needs one for prophylactic purposes

Magpiecomplex · 15/12/2024 10:37

For @Boiledbeetle. Guaranteed efficacious.

Magpiecomplex · 15/12/2024 10:43

And I hope you're feeling hungry Boily. I did try to explain to the AI about hoods and respirator masks... I think it probably reckoned that quokkas are unlikely to catch beetle diseases.
