That plus the whole thing with wrestlers and pandas.

WUT??? I missed the pandas?? 😱

MarieDeGournay · 30/09/2024 09:39

Also, I can't understand why you're unwilling to go out in the wind and the rain, Errol, surely you have a way of adjusting your flame-throwing thingy so it keeps you in a warm dry bubble regardless of the weather?

We all miss the pandas. They had to go back to China, something about geopolitics and the end of panda diplomacy..

I can't attest to the accuracy of what is on screen due to my lack of pilates knowledge, but @ErrolTheDragon should you be standing ON the laptop

True. They struggled with the cancan earlier. Just not built for it.

Sounds as if we share a favourite song! 😺

<tunes up voice and leaps into dance action>

My dog, he can do the can-can
Better than the cat can
But the goldfish finds it very diff-i-cult
Oh my dog, he can do the can-can
Better than the cat can
But the goldfish finds it very hard

<sinks into deep ballerina curtsey, stays there while persuading ageing joints to get up>

I'm glad I arrived in time for that <applause>

Am I the last? So, my round then?

I think you'll find that dragons stand where they damned well want.Grin

Pilates can encompass a whole menagerie - cat&cow, downward and occasionally upward dogs, cobra, Sphinx, rolling like a seal...And occasionally a 'dead fly' , I'm sure beetles can manage those.

inkymoose · 30/09/2024 10:25

Found one of the Quokkas, eyeing up the Tunnocks and turning innocently towards the camera when spotted

Is that...... could it be... is that JK behind the bar? wearing glasses as a very thin disguise??

Your Pilates sounds a lot more fun than the one I used to do, which mainly involved Alignment and Core Strengthening and some sort of steel cored ring you had to grip with your knees. Can I come to your class?

Dead fly you say?

I call it the boiled beetle!

An uncanny likeness, @inkymoose !

And beetle...now just use your core muscles to roll up....oh. Someone needs to give her a shove else she'll be stuck all day.

EdithStourton · 30/09/2024 10:57

<shakes umbrella>
I missed the coach. And had to carry all the sloe gin, which was left in cupboard because I had the key (after the gerbils raided it).

We need to work on our evacuation procedures. Too much time on gerbil luggage, not enough on alcohol. Flawed priorities, if you ask me. Gerbils can walk (or dance), but the booze can't. Not unless it grows legs like the Luggage.

I hope the gerbils are planning on a Hello Dolly style staircase scene.

It's OK the wonderful early summer evening sunshine that is currently shining down on me in the Bluestocking car park is rather nice. It's easing my aching joints.

Maybe if someone could just move me every half hour as the sun moves.

Apologies I left slightly early with the coach as I had to add in an unscheduled stop at the puddle of reality pub to make a few terse phonecalls.

The quokkas had been on the rota for assisting with alcohol shipping, but they've just been so militant this last week.

Hopefully normal animal harmony will resume once Sharon has brought in the baby seagulls for us to coo over. She's expected some time this afternoon after seagull play (like soft play but more chips and ice cream less foam shapes)

And as a beetle, you have a lot more joints than do most of us.
Perhaps you could smoke one. Would that help?

Already on it!

Chersfrozenface · 30/09/2024 12:03

I can coo over some baby creatures but I don't think seagull chicks come into the coo-able category.

Soz Shaz.

Large quantities of chocolate please. Why do I always get at least one student who has problems with being taught science by a woman?

I'm not sure how it works when the joints are on the outside rather than the inside.
Although many of her fellow arthropod woodlice have absolutely nailed 'rolling like a ball' so I guess it must be fine.Confused

Seriously? (Checks calendar. Yes, it's the 21st century).

AmeliaEarache · 30/09/2024 12:39

I've just realised I have no clue what pilates actually entails

@Boiledbeetle - I went to a class and was told it was all about activating my core.

This had a lot less to do with spaceships and dilithium crystals and other fun science fiction stuff than I'd hoped.

Seriously. Depressing, isn't it? I knock it out of them quite fast, but I'm very familiar with the arrogant look that doubts whether a woman could possibly be a scientist. Usually mature students, to be fair.
