The Bluestocking is reopening

It's time we reopened the Bluestocking, I think.

This is the FWR pub, situated in the charming village of Badley Fuckitt near the Shady Pines rest home. It has a cannon (for reasons lost in the mists of time), goats in the paddock next to the beer garden and a menu including many soups and cakes. It's open all hours, serving breakfast and tea to all weary women, in addition to being the ideal location to metaphorically drown your sorrows.

@AlisonDonut and @CorvusPurpureus - I have a proper Mahjongg set too - my mum, dad, sister and I used to play, and I did find some university friends who played, but haven’t played since then (sometime in the last century).

I'm going to be honest this cheese scone I ordered is rather sultanary and jammy. Not that that's going to stop me finishing eating it.

Got any interesting Domino effects to impart. The phrase ‘the domino effect’ in reference to small events compounding to create a catastrophe was inspired by the game.

The oldest known writings regarding the game of Dominoes dates all the way back to the 12th century! Chinese writers of the Yuan Dynasty describe it as a gambling game sold by peddlers. They referred to the game as ‘pupai‘.
Traditional Dominoes tiles, were usually made of a hard, white material such as ivory or bone. Therefore, they were often referred to as ‘bones’.

My domino effect - trying to carry too many things upstairs to save time. Dropping one item per step and ending up with 1 item at the top

In the public bar with the telly, perhaps we can chalk up a schedule of events and watch some live women’s Olympic sport with an apero?
I’ve got a feeling the walls are old and very solid at the Bluestocking so it’s OK to make a bit of noise on a special occasion without disturbing others.. I’m also looking forward to the 2025 women’s rugby World Cup.

Is there is a skittle alley for a friendly tournament after? I’m rubbish at darts and snooker.

I've come to the conclusion this is just mother nature having a laugh at our expense. I imagine she compiles the best clips into a this was "insert year here" at highame's house. As she shows your best bits accompanied by cartoon boings and bleeps to the God of fuck ups!

(Why do we, as humans, continue to do this? We know we can't carry multiple odd shaped things up the stairs whilst also lifting our legs to the next step in one go. We know before we even start up the stairs we are going to drop 99.9% of what we are carrying. So why do we still continue to try?)

The weathers nice today. I assume the outdoor pool has been warmed overnight to the correct "aaaaaah that's nice" temperature.

I'm off for a swim before breakfast.
