The Bluestocking is reopening

It's time we reopened the Bluestocking, I think.

This is the FWR pub, situated in the charming village of Badley Fuckitt near the Shady Pines rest home. It has a cannon (for reasons lost in the mists of time), goats in the paddock next to the beer garden and a menu including many soups and cakes. It's open all hours, serving breakfast and tea to all weary women, in addition to being the ideal location to metaphorically drown your sorrows.

I ended up taking advantage of the attached bed and breakfast facilities last night.

Can I just say the bed (so comfortable) and breakfast (so delicious) and the gorgeous gentleman (so mmmmm) that stood wafting a fan over me all night was superb. I've booked myself in for a whole week.

And now I'm off for a walk to see if I can find Cakes shoes from last night.

highame · 27/07/2024 09:18

Mahjong is just Gin Rummy that you need reading glasses to play.😀

The f cking goat just ate my pocket.

Something to wash the Cornflakes down with. A pint of Soberano and a strong coffee wlll do nicely

lcakethereforeIam · 27/07/2024 09:30

Thanks @Boiledbeetle no rush. I'm having another paddle and a bacon buttie with a big mug of tea waiting on the bank.

D'you know I've not seen a single wasp or horsefly?

The gentleman must have been a figment of your imagination, the gentle breeze here needs no help.

Just be careful if you sit on laps, wouldn't want the pub beetle getting squashed!

(I hope you're not a dermestid beetle. Their larvae are my one and only allergy.)

Now I'm wondering how you found out you were allergic to flesh eating beetles.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/07/2024 09:53

I think more brews and a change of subject is called for.😬

Forgive my morbid curiosity. Watched too much 'bones'.

Professor Mary Black's books are also fascinating. Apparently women have a different distribution of cartilage on their sternums.

quantumbutterfly · 27/07/2024 10:10

Oops. Sue Black. My bad.

Do they need this to support norkage?

Nellieinthebarn · 27/07/2024 10:22

Please may I sit in the corner with a large glass of red wine and a bowl of macaroni cheese? I may start muttering and twitching, but just ignore me.

DeanElderberry · 27/07/2024 10:25

I hope you have some stuff suitable for people who can't eat wheat.

Challenge - I'd like a cheese salad. What will I get?

Interesting question, I don't think she mentions that, but my initial thought is that the weight of your norkage is more focussed on the shoulders.
Is there a physio in the bar?

He could well have been, although I do remember giving the very ornate bottle on the nightstand a quick rub when I noticed a tarnished spot. It all gets hazy after that!

Boiledbeetle · 27/07/2024 11:19

Well I can't find Cakes shoes, but to be honest I'm not looking very hard. I got distracted!

This place is amazing!

I was running barefoot through the meadow before I took the zip wire back to the beer garden, I remember the wind gently wafting through my hairy toes. My shoes could be absolutely anywhere. Wouldn't surprise me if the goats have had 'em.

Do amazon deliver here? I could just order a pair of flip-flops.

Was it Idris Elba? Lordy.

😆 Working long ago for a museum where they were used to strip skeletons!

I love your picture - it would make a wonderfully obscure pub sign.

Now that's got me thinking about an Astrid: Murder in Paris storyline. Eclectic fact about the uses of flesh-eating beetles, which could potentially be a ghoulish method of murder and a museum setting. I think it's got legs.

😆😆😆

Fun fact you can add: they love their meat (especially when it's been in a freezer for years) soaked in warm water and Vegemite.

6 legs? Or multiple thereof?

BlackeyedSusan · 27/07/2024 12:21

Thanks ladies...packing stress suitably calmed by a rest in the soothing pub.

Lots with the young 'uns, they're like caterpillars!

Well this thread is literally food for my soul.

Mmm. Macaroni Cheese. Comfort food of the God's.

Elberberry whenever I think of a cheese salad, I always imagine it Ploughman's style with huge wedges of cheese, hunks of crusty bread and generous dollops of pickles. salad element not required imo

Can I perchance place an order for a Scottish breakfast for the morning. Must include a fat slice of fruit pudding. Ta.

'Cheese salad' means so many things to different people that they're made to order, obviously.

Mine is goat today, and has leaves inc. rocket, ripe tomato, balsamic vinegar, olives, some roasted beetroot and butternut squash and walnuts.
