The Bluestocking is reopening

It's time we reopened the Bluestocking, I think.

This is the FWR pub, situated in the charming village of Badley Fuckitt near the Shady Pines rest home. It has a cannon (for reasons lost in the mists of time), goats in the paddock next to the beer garden and a menu including many soups and cakes. It's open all hours, serving breakfast and tea to all weary women, in addition to being the ideal location to metaphorically drown your sorrows.

For that alone, I would propose marriage.

I dreamed I set up the Bluestocking in real life. Well-behaved men were allowed in the bar and there was an-off limits XX snug stocked with cats, books, a lot of comfy sofas and access to a small courtyard. Membership card, female only, for £12 a year or you buy the barwoman a drink.

In my dream, the guys always looked nervous at the amount of laughter coming from the snug.

Lunch in about an hour?
I have realised that my two dogs have followed me into the kitchen in breach of Elf n Safety rules n regs. Hope nobody minds...

I have around 10kg of extra mature cheddar in the boot.

And 960 teabags. And around 1000 ibuprofen 400 tablets. We bought about 300 and then my brother in law told us he had tonnes in the cupboard so he gave us a few more boxes.

So we are pretty sorted.

Now in French Territory and had a bigly lunch so we can do the 6 hr drive with minimal stops. Docking in around an hour or so.

We both had a kip in the cabin, I took my pyjamas and then I had a shower. So worth it.

I've missed all the news so will catch up in the bath tonight. Once I've done a cat head count and given them treats.

I didn't notice the name on this post & was reading to find out why someone was coming back from Tesco or wherever with 10kg of cheese - I was dying to know what they were going to do with it!

And then wondering what medical complaint someone had which could be managed by taking 300 Ibuprofen a day.

The teabags I find perfectly understandable, as I only like one English & one Chinese type, so I buy in bulk when I can find them.

But it's you, ma chere Mme Donut! Hope the drive goes well & the cats don't ignore you in a huff for too long.

Although Mme. Donut seems to be sitting in the boot and looking out of the rear window. Alright if M. Donut or A N Other is driving, I suppose, if a tad uncomfortable.

Dh is making roast lamb for dinner tonight. I will need to remind him to cook the yorkshires that he forgot last week when he made roast beef.

I will be getting going on the blankets when I have finished knitting sweaters for the family. Dh wanted a quarter zip sweater, so I knitted him one, and he liked it so much he wanted another, then ds1 asked for one, and so did ds3. I’ve finished the two for dh and the one for ds1 and cast on the one for ds3 - and now dh wants a third! Le sigh. But it does mean I have a good excuse to buy more yarn.

I think she's in the back looking for the cheese & pills, unaware they're on the roof. I guess M Donut is driving, she hasn't mentioned U N Autre.

Gosh I hope she's not on a long drive with un autre, remember what Satre said, L'enfer c'est les autres, and that was without doing a long car journey with un autre surrounded by medication, cheese and teabags. Probably.😏

I'm making Paradise Slices this afternoon. The pastry is chilling as I write. I'll call once they're done.

I'm liking the sound of that. We've just had a lunch of mostly salad & fresh fruit, which I will now reframe as an appetiser, possibly an amuse bouche. I'll ask the men in the other bar to direct you. They do so love doing that, don't they?

I had to look them up. Mmmmm. What sort of fruit are you putting in them?
