nauticant · 23/01/2024 19:31

Roz Adams was employed by Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre (ERCC) as a counsellor. She is claiming constructive dismissal for Gender Critical (GC) beliefs. The CEO of ERCC is a well known transwoman known for, among other things, controversial "reframe your trauma" remarks.

NC has shone a torch on the fact that trans Ideology, and the central tenet that you are biologically who you say you are, is always going to be incompatible within a women's only service.

So no commissioning body can require a trans inclusive service as a model for a women’s only service, it just does not work.

Zebracat · 24/01/2024 13:49

I could not, under any circumstances discuss sexual violence with a transwoman. I have, however, discussed it with a male counsellor, we kind of stumbled upon it. Similarly, if I needed intimate care, I might accept help from a man, but not a transwoman, but I would probably not want to hurt their feelings by refusing. I dont know if this is a transphobic, but it’s absolutely how I feel. If AB can announce their non binary ness, and refuse to discuss further, despite obvious workplace issues, I don’t see why I can’t have my wishes respected too.

what font you should use in emails

Wingdings, obviously.

Or Comic Sans if they’ve done something to really annoy you. 😉

(I’m pages behind so this post is bound to fall flat.)

@crumpet @Ereshkigalangcleg

That is massively upsetting. So you can't trust them as an organisation as they are lying about the biological status of their staff basically. To people who have been at the sharp end of a biology that has compromised their safety, over ridden their consent and violated them. The issue about women and their consent being ignored is so deep rooted that they aren't even given the chance to consent to exposure to a counsellor anymore Sad

Yes. Truly dreadful that a woman in such need would be told lies at a time of such vulnerability. AND then be blamed and name called if she can’t deal with it.

Chrysanthemum5 · 24/01/2024 13:21

I think my jaw dropping moment from this (and it is one of many contenders) is the current witness saying she didn't know AB's medical history so couldn't say whether AB would be more likely to get breast or prostate cancer

It's a bit 'I'm not a biologist'.

Rainbowshit · 24/01/2024 13:51

Could it be considered discrimination against GC rape victims to say ERCC can't cater for their request for a biological female?

AlisonDonut · 24/01/2024 13:52

Thanks all for this, I couldnt hear a thing this morning so I gave it up but I'm a little annoyed I missed the bit about having no idea what sex AB could possibly be.

I say, steady on!

Rainbowshit · 24/01/2024 13:53

Anyone know if MW is still viewing the tribunal?

SidewaysOtter · 24/01/2024 13:53

Hild0 · 24/01/2024 13:39

Why do they do it? MW is obvs. doing it for validation, but why do all the handmaidens do it?

Same as ever: so the bullies don’t turn on them (shades of Mary Warren in The Crucible) and/or to signal their purity.

Blimey, these threads have taken some catching up on! Thank you to all the live posters for their sterling efforts.

AlisonDonut · 24/01/2024 13:53

And what apprentice gets final sign off on gross misconduct letters in any organisation?

nauticant · 24/01/2024 13:53

You'd need a particular individual who made that request of ERCC and received their response according to ERCC policy to make the claim Rainbowshit.

I'm never going to complain about my colleagues again, including the terminally dull wet lettuce, the woman who still rants about her cousin's wedding that her children weren't invited to, and the one who insisted on telling me about her see-through leotard (for some kind of sex party). At least none of them are foaming, ,glazed-eyed woo-zealots.

HPFA · 24/01/2024 13:54

What's always stood out about this is that MW is clearly unsuited as an individual to be in this post.

Even if you were very TWAW and thought that in principle it was OK for a male to head up a Rape Crisis Centre it should be obvious that MW is totally lacking in basic empathy and could not possibly have been appointed on merit.

I must go back and reread The Crucible.

crumpet · 24/01/2024 13:56

I would be fascinated to see the calibre and experience of other applicants for the CEO post to compare.

nauticant · 24/01/2024 11:27

As suggestion to those on the thread.

Put "what is non binary in Spanish" into Google.

Howling, even the native Spanish speaker doesnt appear to know.

Boiledbeetle · 24/01/2024 13:58

Ereshkigalangcleg · 24/01/2024 13:39

It's legally false and scientifically false that Wadhwa is a woman, let alone "female" or "not male". The huffing and pearl clutching by the ERCC witnesses notwithstanding.

I wonder what the penalties are for lying under oath in a tribunal? Presumably it's treated like any other court of law?

Hild0 · 24/01/2024 13:58

AlisonDonut · 24/01/2024 13:53

They'd have been better saying the dog chewed it before we sent it. More plausible.

Leave Comic Sans alone, you fontophobic beast!

I am dyslexic, and wherever possible compose my documents in CS as I find it easier to read. Then I convert them to Times New Roman to send on.

Yellow paper helps, too.

Boiledbeetle · 24/01/2024 14:02

Finally caught up in all that I missed whilst watching and they are back in the room nearly ready to start again.

God I need a nap!

That will probably be this afternoon.

I'm catching up on the thread but that genuinely made me laugh out loud. 😁

I swear, I want to shriek 'get a hobby, for fucks sake' at the self obsessed, navel gazing ones claiming that they're NB. At least they'll have something beside themselves to talk about.
