I can’t watch that wanker with his spittle-flecked beard and his face tomato red with fury that anyone dares disagree with him.

you could be talking about so many of them.
Hervey? LRM?

God he's an odious oik!

All makes me increasingly grateful to have a few decent independent coffee shops nearby. They’re the only ones that will be getting my money in future.

BabyStopCryin · 01/08/2023 20:17

Why don’t they just sell chuffing coffee!

Ohyousillydivvy · 01/08/2023 20:18

Same here, there are a few independent coffee shops nearby which I frequent anyway. I will visit more now as I refuse to buy coffee from th e station on my way to work. I'll take coffee with me or wait till I get to the office, Costa will not be getting my money anymore.

Tallisker · 01/08/2023 20:40

God that bloke's insufferable. Does he not know how interviews work? He never shuts up, just bangs on and on and on talking over women. I can't bear him

dimorphism · 01/08/2023 21:15

So, where are the ads celebrating breast ironing and female genital mutilation then, because I can't really see the difference between this and if they did that.

Plenty of young women detransitioners speaking out about their huge regret and how they feel they were mistreated (at best) and mutilated (at worst) by the medical profession that should have been caring for them. This is so incredibly offensive it's unbelievable.

dimorphism · 01/08/2023 21:16

Needless to say, I won't be buying Costa anymore. Shame, because I liked their hot chocolate. But if it's funding the glorification of abuse of young girls then no, thanks.

Is Pret ok? Asking for the next time I go to an airport.

Might have to go with Greggs at motorway service areas as the least worst....

That's the Labour party speaking.

I’ll be taking my custom to Caffè Nero. I never see them grandstanding about anything.

I think they might be at Heathrow - that might be an option next time I go through there.

The allergy thing at Pret has been resolved by legislation.

BabyStopCryin · 02/08/2023 11:41

I know but Natasha was a pal of my goddaughter - not putting ingredients on a pack as a piece of marketing… when they know they have to be so careful. That really made me so angry.

BabyStopCryin · 03/08/2023 13:09

I’m a bit hacked off because they did a decent toastie. Oh well, lack of toastie won’t kill me!

Sorry, haven’t RTFT so this may have been mentioned already, but lots of hospitals have Costas these days, so I really hope none of them are displaying this image where women who’ve had mastectomies for cancer might see it.

Really good point, Mavis.

I posted this on another thread but I'll re-post it here.

As I was buying a sandwich in a corner shop this morning, I noticed a woman going to the Costa machine. I didn't say anything, it's a small family run store in an area where "progressiveness" probably isn't that high on anyone's agenda.

However, it occurred to me that many of their machines are in the likes of Tesco etc. I think it may be worthwhile asking those sort of outlets if they are happy to be associated with this kind of image, pointing out the many, many issues with it as articulated throughout this thread.

I think the image was created for coffee vans that attended pride events last year (and that the image wasn’t publicised outside those events).

I don’t think that makes it OK because the image is still thoughtless and crass, but I do think that is why they didn’t give any thought to the wider message.

Illegallyblonder · 03/08/2023 15:37

I've emailed Costa to express my disgust at this campaign. I dreamt a friend's autistic daughter had had this surgery last night.

Costa Express and Costa Proud to Serve (in hospitals etc) operate slightly differently but are all owned by Coca Cola now.
