There was a very recent thread about a bizarre, inappropriate mural with very, very similar artwork. Rubbish (imo) NB artist whose fairy tail characters looked just like this (and the DocM thread) right down to the Egyptian poses and closed eyes.

Surely just about everyone us about a million little independent coffee shops these days.

I live in the Shithole Time Forgot and even we convert every empty building (of which we have many) into a coffee shop now.

I never go to chain coffee shops but if I did I wouldn’t be going to Costa.

My bloke and kids go to Costa all the time. I don't because the drinks are awful and usually tepid. I don't think I can stop them, kids are still 'be kind'. I'll try to find a local alternative for them, but we're saturated in Costas round here 😡

On another thread, a poster said that her dad kept a list of companies/people he boycotted, and she'd adopted his list after he died. I am now keeping my own list, there are so many bloody companies like this! (and yes, their coffee is rank and their cakes are often stale)

I'd rather slurp from a dirty puddle than drink Costa 'coffee' quite frankly. Even more so now.

Does anyone know where it was seen? Is it on line advertising. Maya was saying it broke advertising regulations.

It isn't the breast shape, because topless flat chested women are still considered indecent in a way topless men aren't.

It isn't the identity, because transmen and NBs only expose their chests post surgery.

So it must be the surgery. Weird. Is it the same with mastectomies or boob jobs?

And at what point does a male chest become indecent? See plenty of moobs about....

There is no doubt in my mind that this is glamourising double mastectomies. If 'Costa' portray it as something to be celebrated, it must be absolutely fine... right?

This is wrong on many levels.

My daughter works for Costa (she's 18) - I texted her to tell her Boycott Costa was trending.

She hadn't heard anything about it. She's kind of mildly Terfy - not really very interested in the issue but says it's all "a bit silly " and "everyone's non-binary really".

Her response after I told her what it was about was "conservatives always make a big fuss about nothing".

I wonder how much we think about the best way of appealing to young women? On the one hand I suspect a lot of them secretly find it all a bit tiresome - on the other anything that gets associated with conservatism and the right wing generally tends to get the thumbs down from people this age. As the conversation opens up it's worth thinking about.

Is this very new? I saw their twitter page is covered in that style of art - women with mastectomy scars and chunky fellas with beehives…

Jennifer Bilek I think wrote about DEI / EDI policies coming down from such a high level that funding streams to corps are stopped unless they comply with Stonewall-esque policies . Someone else might have better info.

Yes I think its the surgery. Maybe they'll start showing the scars of other surgery
