I was at Brighton Pride last year and Coca Cola and Costa Coffee both had big stands where they were giving away free drinks, they were in fact the only drinks places giving away endless free samples so that figures what pp said about coca cola buying costa.

I'm going to Brighton Pride again this weekend, will report back.

Yes, it is very annoying. You don't eg have much choice at motorway service areas. Maybe Greggs instead - have they done anything to upset people?

I hope they haven’t.

Greggs is affordable and their sandwiches/ baguettes are very acceptable. I wouldn’t touch their pizza slices again though. Once bitten.

Disappointed about Costa as we do go there occasionally, albeit not our first choice, but they are expensive and not always that clean, so this has provided the motivation to avoid them.

It's still fundamentally exploitative of women, as well. There's still a double standard that it's fine to show natal women (trans men) with very few clothes on and show intimate parts of them that the world doesn't need to see, and natal men (trans women) aren't subjected to the same exploitation to signify their "gender" or sex.

The childish obsession of men with women's breasts doesn't end if you transition.

That message needs to reach young girls who think they can opt out of being a woman, because this shows you never can.

Well observed. The double standard is still going strong. One rule for men, another for women. The obsession continues even without breasts. Especially without them. What a messed up world.

WhiteFire · 31/07/2023 22:03

It will be interesting to see if this is actually Costa endorsed. Costa Express tends to be their machines in shops etc so it may be a beach cafe (it looks beachy and a surf board) that sells Costa drinks rather than being an actual Costa outlet.

If it is this Costa will be in an uncomfortable position as to how they respond.

@EmpressaurusOfCats Thank you for the link - I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, that pays me for the moment of #BeKind

BabyStopCryin · 31/07/2023 22:13

Wonder if that’s puffer-fish lip-plumper a too?

WhiteFire · 31/07/2023 22:15

'We want everyone that interacts with us to experience the inclusive environment that we create, to encourage people to feel welcomed, free and unashamedly proud to be themselves. The mural, in its entirety, showcases and celebrates inclusivity.' (from the Mail article)

So why pick that one single image then?

I can't see what you're all talking about. I'm in a mobile so can possibly only see a clip of the picture.

@DeadbeatYoda look closely at the chest.

im not hugely observant and my eyesight is definitely getting worse. I see naked torso & what initially looked like shirts, just assumed it was a bloke surfing. Only scrutinised it because if the comments.

fucking ridiculous, but I think I blissfully miss half of the shit!

BabyStopCryin · 31/07/2023 22:21

That particular style of illustration is very ‘Pride’.

They have annoyed Cornwall by having the cheek to open shops here.

canofsoup · 31/07/2023 22:26

I had to have both my breasts removed due to two separate breast cancer diagnosis. The image, and the message it sends, has absolutely devastated me this evening. I thought I'd come to terms with my loss, but evidently, from my emotional response to it, I haven't.

LuckyCats · 31/07/2023 22:26

Gross.
what have tits in any shape or form got to do with selling shite coffee?
even without the mutilation scars how is that selling coffee or saying anything?
Ive never seen a mural depicting a c section scar, I’m not feeling very included.

@canofsoup I'm so sorry.

DeadbeatYoda · 31/07/2023 22:33

@VinEtFromage
Oh right, I see now. That's in very poor taste indeed. What on earth do they think they're doing? How incredibly insensitive to women who have had to have their breasts removed for health reasons.

Jennifer Bilek I think wrote about DEI / EDI policies coming down from such a high level that funding streams to corps are stopped unless they comply with Stonewall-esque policies . Someone else might have better info.

Ok

Say there is a massive company (WhiteStone (WS)) which is given your pension plan and your spare cash to invest in the global markets.
It is the biggest and the market leader.
WS buys and sells shares and acts as a bankloan by buying and selling bonds.
WS has corporate values that it uses as proof of what a good citizen it is.
Other investment companies want to match WS and win your business so they track copy what WS is doing
Non employees who want to work there will encourage their employers to do what WS do.
And non-invester companies want WS to buy new shares or new bond Or buy existing shares/bonds for a good resale price. so they change to what WS want in an investment.
Once WS own shares it gets to vote on what is a good corporate value
If it loans money it can set terms and conditions.

You want to make sure that your money is only invested in a business with a corporate value or a specific EID value of including a yellow flag in any official logo.

As an outsider before you invest you want to make sure that WS has the correct logo and an internal EID team to keep the EID in place
But WS Is taking your money and investing it in other companies.
Say in a bank
Your next question is has the bank also got a yellow logo
If they do you agree that WS used your money to help it do business but put an external EID in place to make sure the bank keep the logo.
They want to keep your money and put an internal EID in place
But your money is taken by the bank and invested too.
So you ask WS to ask if the bank customers who use the money you gave the bank have a yellow logo
The bank put an external EID in place.
You, your employer and the local shops are a customers of the bank and need a proof you each have a yellow logo.
Plus you are getting other investment companies and non-employees to follow your lead by matching the WS EID

In real life as a tiny investor you can not ask WS to provide a yellow logo. But if you can reach an economic size WS change the way SW do business to keep your money.

If you can become an insider employee you can sell the idea of how good the yellow logo is and how good it would be to have it as a corporate value as people would invest just because they value the logo too. You are now getting paid to use other peoples money to create an EID team and roll it down so they need a yellow logo to get a job, housing, buy food etc

If you are the boss of WS you just say that the yellow logo is happening. You contol the money and can lobby politicians and run targeted ad campaigns at people who vote for politicians etc and get to lobby the investment industry too.

If hand that rocks the cradle rules the world and you can not be the WS boss you may want to get into education and teach all (the bright business mind and the government employee setting banking rules and the road sweep with a pension) that everyone needs a yellow logo to be a good person.

Now that ^ is all a right wing tinfoil hat bla bla bla .... because your decision about a yellow logo always existed

I’m sorry to hear that and if I were you I’d be telling the CEO of Costa exactly how you feel.

Messaged Costa...
Won't be getting my coffee there again.

It could be connect to breast cancer? Trying to be generous

I very much doubt anyone would depict a female breast-cancer survivor as surfing topless, while looking in all other respects like a stereotypical bloke. Nor have I heard of women suddenly feeling fine about going topless after having a mastectomy for cancer treatment. Plenty of evidence of trans-identified young girls feeling free/encouraged to get their chests out after so-called "top surgery" though... and the other work by what appears to be the same 'artist' seems to make it pretty certain that's what was intended.

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 31/07/2023 23:15

Oh just refreshed and saw the Mail article too, which obviously confirms it (not that I had any doubt!)
