Have they said anything yet?

MidCent · 31/07/2023 19:12

I think it's a combination of the Board being threatened with not receiving credit lines if not promoting TQ+ ideology and the 20-35 year old American University grads with herd mentality running their EDI and PR teams

www.the11thhourblog.com/post/joe-biden-taps-global-business-coalition-to-advance-the-lgbtqia-agenda

"the banks and investors they do business with that are participating in this racket are behaving like a cartel, threatening to withhold capital from businessess if their ESG score isn’t up to snuff. In his article, Sirvinskas rightly points out that Walt Disney choosing to speak out publiclyy against Florida’s bill that banned classroom instruction on sexual orientation or gender identity for kindergarten through 3rd grade was not just a decision that was morally grounded, but also financially motivated"

We aren’t in sodding America…

If a woman has breast implants, is it also a good idea to use her scars In advertising?

tryingtobeagoodhuman · 31/07/2023 19:35

gogomoto · 31/07/2023 19:01

It could be connect to breast cancer? Trying to be generous

The inclusion of mastectomy scars on anything boob-related used to be intended as inclusive of those who had recovered from surgery for breast cancer. But sadly I don't think this is the case anymore.

ArabeIIaScott · 31/07/2023 19:44

Saint Agatha, you found favor with God by your chastity and by your courage in suffering death for the gospel. Teach me how to suffer with cheerfulness, uniting myself to Christ crucified with a simplicity and purity of heart. Amen

RockAndRollerskate · 31/07/2023 20:07

Sorry all, only just checking back now.
Absolutely bizarre advert, woke virtue signally at its most sick.

Glorifying chopping off healthy breasts to sell coffee. I can’t get my head around it. Especially in the context of de-transitioners coming out more and more to describe what an awful mistake their life altering surgeries were.

And like others have said, there’s a little bit of getting excited over the female breast thrown in here too - hide them away. Of course, despite having the worlds tiniest tits, I couldn’t ever get them out in public because I check a different box on forms.

Costa added to the list of retail brands I no longer use. Oh well, I guess it’s not good for me anyway!

loopyloutoo · 31/07/2023 20:12

Sorry but I don't get the hysteria? Are you sure that's what they mean? Maybe it's just design or am I being naive? Like nobody has lips like that either - how has it got anything to do with coffee?

Maaate · 31/07/2023 20:14

Hysteria... Interesting 🤔

Why else would they depict a person with double mastectomy scars?

Whoiscomingtosaveyou · 31/07/2023 20:16

They’ve forgotten to add the arm scarring from having tissue harvested for the construction of a neophallus…

WomenShouldStillWinWomensSports · 31/07/2023 16:21

It's just so unnecessary isn't it. If TWAW and TMAM, then surely a picture of a bog standard bloke or woman is representative of TW and TM as well. If it's not, then they're saying they know TWAW and TWAM isn't true, at which point they need to stop pretending it is. It's so bizarre to fetishize surgery scars to this extent. I mean, they don't put likenesses of women with C-section scars or breast cancer mastectomy scars all over their SM do they? I wonder why not. 🙄

This is bucketloads

Apparently Costa tweeted a while back about a collaboration with someone called Ashton Attzs for Pride, who had designed them a new logo and also the rainbow cups they were selling. The style of the logo in the tweet looks identical to this - the same weird "kissy" lips. So it seems likely this is also somehow Pride-related.

I would be interested to know where this particular image came from though and where/how widely it's been used, I haven't seen it before this but it's possible that it's only been used in certain countries or not widely used at all? But it's utterly grim to be using and glamourising images of unnecessary surgery for drinks sales!

That would be fair

It could be connect to breast cancer? Trying to be generous

This was my first thought as whenever I see these scars I also think of breast cancer.

But I still wouldn’t advertise it as that’s basically saying drink this coffee and you’ll get cancer!

I don’t drink coffee in Costa or Starbucks etc anyway as I think they’re overpriced, don’t taste nice and way too many calories but either they’re trying to be woke by representing cancer patients or trans people and either way I would absolutely be refusing to ever go even if I wanted to.

Has a Costa representative not given a speech yet?

bellac11 · 31/07/2023 20:41

Properly shocked at this. I had to look a few times because I didnt get the issue, then zoomed in and saw the scars, horrific. Making self harm aspirational and desirable.

That’s exactly it.

Its literally celebrating and trying to influence breast scars.
Of course people shouldn’t be ashamed of them but they absolutely should not be celebrated In such an influential way.

I wonder if I go into Costa topless with my double Ds out how they’d feel.

IcakethereforeIam · 31/07/2023 20:45

Yes, Ashton Attz, the same one note artist as before. They is talked about on a Hebden Bridge thread regarding they's fugly artwork.

IcakethereforeIam · 31/07/2023 17:27

*tale - my fault this time!

There was a very recent thread about a bizarre, inappropriate mural with very, very similar artwork. Rubbish (imo) NB artist whose fairy tail characters looked just like this (and the DocM thread) right down to the Egyptian poses and closed eyes.

Either you or your autocorrect were thinking of furries at the time of typing, weren't you. Admit it 😂

FFS. I usually go to costa so I can avoid Starbucks.

Yes, it is very annoying. You don't eg have much choice at motorway service areas. Maybe Greggs instead - have they done anything to upset people?

If it was it would have the pink ribbon or something. I'd like to be generous too.

But I fear it has nothing at all to do with that.

Sadly I already boycott them as their coffee is shit.

yes, it's not a boycott so much as a 'I'm not putting that stuff in my mouth'.

heavens to murgatroyd, companies just do what they think is trendy and look fucking clueless don't they? like David Brent dancing away to the themselves with their lower lip clamped under their teeth
