In today's DT:

digitaleditions.telegraph.co.uk/data/1387/reader/reader.html?social#!preferred/0/package/1387/pub/1387/page/40/article/NaN

Sorry, I don't know how to get past the paywall.

It's about the person who was upset when given the key to the unisex changing room in a Sheffield hotel.

It does make you wonder what's in it for him doesn't it?

Is it philanthropy? A sense of civic duty? A determination to improve the lives and inner joy of all mankind? Stop me when I'm getting warm.

I'm always struck by the repeated actions of men who claim womanhood in failing to consider or empathise with the feelings of women and girls.

Many Trans woman maintain their male entitlement and the "right" to subjugate woman to ensure their needs are met - irrespective of the impact on the opposite sex.

In so many instances I can't help feel that in attempting to assert a female identity they serve to highlight their innate masculinity and socialisation.

I judge people by their actions, not what they wear or what they claim.

When those actions include totally unnecessary trips through an open female changing area given an alternative route was available for all officials then the conclusions I'm going to arrive at are blindingly obvious.

I don't care if that upsets Anne because Anne doesn't care about upsetting women (including apparently his own wife).

This is an excellent response which says everything that needs to be said

Agree, excellent post.

Mavis

RunAway is referencing the many posts on MN from women whose husbands have a hobby which costs a lot and takes up a lot of time - being heavily into cycling - and means the husbands are out of the house for hours at weekends leaving childcare and the domestic burden to their wives. The acronym MAMIL = Middle Aged Men In Lycra and refers to the obsessive cyclists who have all the kit. There’s also a phrase All The Gear No Idea which I think can overlap with MAMIL.

Thank you!

It is a safeguarding issue.

I wonder whether anyone has looked at whether there were legal issues with the person walking though the girls changing area (from the interviews it sounds as though they were minors) and making them uncomfortable.

The youngest female competitors were 13. Most aged 14 to 19.

Badchickenpecks · 29/07/2023 20:31

So sexually mature and incredibly vulnerable?

MotherEarthisaTerf · 29/07/2023 21:11

Once again there is no woman who would prefer to walk through a wet changing room over going a slightly longer way round. Gobs of wet hair on the floor, puddles of water, close proximity to other women changing who's way you will be in.

Only a man would want to parade through it fully clothed.

AutumnCrow · 29/07/2023 21:24

Fookin hell, at 13 I'd only just started my periods.

See also- why would anyone choose to go into the toilets inside the swimming changing area. Grim at the best of times but if you're fully clothed not intending to swim?

Mind you I forget some people need to stand up to pee and not sit on toilets. You've still got to stand in those water/piss cubicles though Envy

@BreadInCaptivity I absolutely loved that post!

I'm just piecing this together. They were staying in a hotel in Sheffield. At their own expense. To volunteer at a children's swimming competition. For what, 4 nights? At about £100 a night? Plus other out of pockets expenses such as dinner etc. That's a lot of money.

AC must really love the sport, it's so kind to do all that and go to that much expense. Most volunteers are parents of the kids or people who work within Swimming. You have to be very motivated to spend your time and money volunteering for something that's not your job and your child isn't competing.

You put that very politely, @Namechanger563!
😁

So the question really is - how can ordinary people see all this but people in charge can't? and can't see it over and over again?

Yeah, but you know @MrsDanversGlidesAgain women aren’t really people, so who cares?

I hope he picked up a verruca when he walked through the changing room.

Sorry, you're still cold.

It's definitely not a sense of philanthropy. It's just another vile abhorrent way for misogynists to exert control over women and trample all over their safe spaces. We can all see the utterly horrific and revolting motivations behind this pattern of behaviour. The very serious safeguarding implications of this individuals behaviour cannot be denied.

I feel so sorry for 'Myra'. Imagine being the one person brave enough to speak up, and being on the receiving end of that creepy exchange, where she is coerced into agreeing to change with Anne Confused

MillWood85 · 29/07/2023 22:12

Anne has deleted "their" Twitter account, it seems.

Thelonelygiraffe · 29/07/2023 22:17

What a creep. Using the girls changing rooms as a short cut. Yuk. They should be banned from volunteering. How can you trust them?!

Nothing to see here.....

It didn't happen.

Shame about all those receipts hey Anne.

I really hope "Myra" from your swim club is feeling vindicated along with all the other club members who felt pressured into accepting your presence into their female space.

Claiming womenhood whilst behaving like a predatory male by entering female spaces you had no reason to be in isn't going to garner sympathy from anyone with any degree of brain function.

Yusay · 29/07/2023 22:34

So if you’re a man who wants to watch teenage girls getting changed, all you have to do is pop on a skirt and wander through the girls’ changing rooms whenever you feel like it?
