Apologies if there’s a thread already but as someone at similar stage of pregnancy I’m struggling to articulate my thoughts on this one.

Let and let live vs feeling offended (not even sure that’s the word?!) as at similarly heavily pregnant stage

I am also at a similar stage - well, at an advanced stage anyway - not sure how pregnant this person is.
This doesn't offend me at all.
But I would describe them as a pregnant biological woman, who identifies as male.

Soontobe60 · 01/06/2023 22:53

Yep, pregnant people come in all shapes and sizes. In fact, the only thing they have in common with absolute certainty is that they’re all female. Ergo, most will be women, but some will be girls.

NotTerfNorCis · 01/06/2023 22:54

Not sure why they're leading on this story. Some trans men can get pregnant- because they're female.

JamSandle · 01/06/2023 22:55

So basically pregnant woman. Regardless of how they dress or identify.

Lockheart · 01/06/2023 22:55

I don't personally believe they're a man, but I'm not offended by the fact another woman is pregnant. It doesn't matter to me how they identify.

Jellos · 01/06/2023 22:58

This is all getting very confusing!

What exactly is the aim of all of this?

It’s like a carrot saying it’s identifying as a potato. Just absolutely daft.

Boomboom22 · 01/06/2023 23:00

Maybe they think we are so confused we will say oh OK men can be pregnant then and tw probably can too.

PorcelinaV · 01/06/2023 23:01

Trans people do exist, sure. They just haven't biologically changed sex. So no one even denies that they exist in some sense.

So I'm offended at the silliness of them thinking they are "living proof" of something.

I also question whether you deserve to be on a magazine for it these days, but that's their choice.

Hearti · 01/06/2023 23:02

Trans man/biological woman pregnant. Good for them. I do wonder if hormones/chemicals cross the placenta though.

Thelastofbus · 01/06/2023 23:03

Doesn’t bother me. Trans people exist clearly. And this one is pregnant. The title identifies the person as trans rather than male or a man.

DoingSomethingUnholy · 01/06/2023 23:04

It's a pregnant woman with short hair. My mum has short hair, I didn't realise she was so ground breaking for having kids with her hair short. If this woman is able to get pregnant and carry a baby she's as much a woman as I am, she just likes to dress like a boy and cut her hair. Nothing to see here!

TowelRailing · 01/06/2023 23:07

They seem to be good people and will be good parents. The risk here to their child is if they feel under pressure to be exemplar (and even let formative) trans parents.

TowelRailing · 01/06/2023 23:08

Let formative = performative

Circumferences · 01/06/2023 23:08

I'm proud for the person saying "I'm a pregnant trans man" as opposed to "pregnant man" because we all know men can't fall pregnant.

Transman would be preferable but it's a start.

They've probably stopped the testosterone for the duration of the pregnancy if they have any sense, and hopefully won't slap anyone in the maternity ward for calling them the "mother".

Vintagevixen · 01/06/2023 23:10

A pregnant woman - millions do it every year.

SunnySun1 · 01/06/2023 23:13

Surely someone who has gender dysphoria wouldn’t want to be reminded of their biological sex. By getting pregnant, this person is reminded of their female biology. I thought trans men wanted to live their lives like biological men?

musicalfrog · 01/06/2023 23:14

I don't understand how you can be so dysphoric as to have your breasts removed, but you'll happily go ahead and have a baby. That's probably the most female thing it's possible to do in anyone's book! So I have a very itchy chin about all this. Mind you, you would need to be an attention seeker to appear on the front cover of a magazine I suppose.

musicalfrog · 01/06/2023 23:14

X post @SunnySun1 !

HereForTheFreeLunch · 01/06/2023 23:14

It's the only time we see transmen anywhere isn't it? When they are pregnant or giving birth.
That's all they are noted for.
TW on the other hand, are visible in politics, sport, business, even breastfeeding.

Common, everyday or garden variety sexism. Females are only good for giving birth. Males on the other hand are pretty fantastic at everything else.

Jellos · 01/06/2023 23:15

Is the ultimate aim for a biological male for example who identifies as a female to actually be classed as a female legally in society?

So have a sex change op, take a load of female hormones and then that’s it you’re a woman?

if so i mean isn’t that dangerous. You can usually tell but what if you can’t? Won’t biological men be ‘tricked’ into thinking they’re dating a biological woman when they’re not? What about when they want to have kids and realise their wife was actually born as a man and can’t have a baby?

It’s all a bit messed up!

Fuckedthen · 01/06/2023 23:20

@SunnySun1 & @musicalfrog

these are my thoughts too. Strange.

nepeta · 01/06/2023 23:23

This is just another way of telling us that 'woman' now means simply inner feelings about liking femininity or about liking pink or makeup or high heels or skirts-go-spinny, and because this person is not a woman, based on those sexist grounds, then it must be the case that the rest of us all agree to define ourselves that way, rather than on the basis of biological sex.

So that's us told.

OvaHere · 01/06/2023 23:23

I exist = not like other girls

I note this is Glamour magazine and not GQ or Men's Health

justgotosleepffs · 01/06/2023 23:23

Don't havr a problem with a transman being pregnant, but the headline is stupid: "No matter what anyone says, I'm living proof."
Of what? That transmen are really women? MASSIVE OWN GOAL.

WallaceinAnderland · 01/06/2023 23:25

How is that 'living as a man'?
