Apologies if there’s a thread already but as someone at similar stage of pregnancy I’m struggling to articulate my thoughts on this one.

Let and let live vs feeling offended (not even sure that’s the word?!) as at similarly heavily pregnant stage

Don't havr a problem with a transman being pregnant, but the headline is stupid: "No matter what anyone says, I'm living proof."
Of what? That transmen are really women? MASSIVE OWN GOAL.

Yep.

I am also at a similar stage - well, at an advanced stage anyway - not sure how pregnant this person is.
This doesn't offend me at all.
But I would describe them as a pregnant biological woman, who identifies as male.

Exactly.

It looks like a story - and I can see why they ran it, but there’s nothing to it.

I’m vaguely interested to know why someone who wants to live as a man would want to be pregnant, but not interested enough to read it.

Trans man/biological woman pregnant. Good for them. I do wonder if hormones/chemicals cross the placenta though.

They would have come off hormone treatment to get pregnant though, and I guess/Hope would stay off it till after the birth

literalviolence · 01/06/2023 23:36

Transmen are female so of course some can get pregnant. Living proof of what? That some transmen (aka females) don't take enough hormones or have enough surgery to make themselves infertile? Goodness only knows what this person thinks actually needs proving but I expect that likes lots of trans people, they are making all sorts of unwarranted assumptions about other people's thoughts and beliefs.

OneMorePlant · 01/06/2023 23:38

Men identifying as women go on magazine covers with awards.

Women identifying as men are only talked about when they get pregnant.

This infuriates me on so many levels. The promoting of queer theory. The normalising of insanity. The health of that baby that is growing in a woman's body ravaged by testosterone. No one knows how it will affects its health and mental capabilities. The misogyny of it all. The gaslighting in trying to tell us that this is somehow breaking with stereotypes.

I'm so sick of it all.

SemperIdem · 01/06/2023 23:38

Ah yes, conceiving and carrying a baby to term, the most masculine thing possible 🫠

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 01/06/2023 23:41

Pregnant woman dresses to look like a man

Ok then

Pieceofpurplesky · 01/06/2023 23:43

They do say in the article that they stopped the hormones for health reasons.

His partner is also trans. Yet clearly having sex like a heterosexual couple.

I'm proud for the person saying "I'm a pregnant trans man" as opposed to "pregnant man" because we all know men can't fall pregnant.

Transman would be preferable but it's a start.

They've probably stopped the testosterone for the duration of the pregnancy if they have any sense, and hopefully won't slap anyone in the maternity ward for calling them the "mother".

They've had the baby now. They'd stopped testosterone for health reasons when they fell pregnant.

SunnySun1 · 01/06/2023 23:13

Surely someone who has gender dysphoria wouldn’t want to be reminded of their biological sex. By getting pregnant, this person is reminded of their female biology. I thought trans men wanted to live their lives like biological men?

If you read their blog the pregnant was a surprise one and it did trigger feelings about their own identity.

ohfook · 02/06/2023 00:11

Pregnant should've said pregnancy obviously.
I'm sitting reading this thread on my bathroom floor in between throwing up with what is definitely the worst 'morning' sickness I've ever had, so I'm probs a bit more sympathetic than usual to any pregnant woman at the minute no matter how they identify. Also I've passed a bit of time reading their blog and I did find it quite interesting! I'm now in a bathroom floor rabbit hole reading Julie bindel's interview with buck angel.

yardie · 02/06/2023 00:31

I got banned on Reddit as I wrote "only woman get pregnant"

Ereshkigalangcleg · 02/06/2023 00:33

I note this is Glamour magazine and not GQ or Men's Health

Yes, funny that.

CherryBlossomAutumn · 02/06/2023 00:34

It’s just confusing. I read it and thought they’ve really advanced medicine haven’t they!

TheShellBeach · 02/06/2023 00:50

Soontobe60 · 01/06/2023 22:53

Yep, pregnant people come in all shapes and sizes. In fact, the only thing they have in common with absolute certainty is that they’re all female. Ergo, most will be women, but some will be girls.

I think you'll find that they're ALL women or girls.

TheShellBeach · 02/06/2023 00:52

TowelRailing · 01/06/2023 23:07

They seem to be good people and will be good parents. The risk here to their child is if they feel under pressure to be exemplar (and even let formative) trans parents.

What are trans parents?

GoField · 02/06/2023 00:53

They’ve had their baby now and will make lovely parents I’m sure. But they got pregnant ‘accidentally’ whilst having PIV sex - did they think identifying as a man acted as a contraceptive? Their partner is a male who identifies as non binary and has a drag act where they dress up as grotesque parodies of ‘thick’ working class women - all fake boobs in tiny bikini tops, bad teeth and delusions of grandeur - quite caustic humour and I’ve laughed at some of their depictions even though I know they’re quite cruel.

In one of their interviews they said that they never wanted kids when they were younger, never dreamed they would but are happy now. It made me think about all the other trans men who risked their own fertility because they ‘knew’ they’d never want kids. Funny how things change as you get older isn’t it?

I wish them well and I’m sure they’ll face all the challenges any new parents face. They’ve got massive support within their community and the donations of money and baby stuff is flooding in. Personally, I think they need to step away from social media and adjust to their new future. Hopefully they have the support on the ground beyond the ‘you’ll make a great Dad’ gushing they’re getting on Instagram. I think being on the cover of Glamour Magazine was a bit of a dumb move as it will bring a lot of attention to them - but I guess they feel they need to act as a sort of ‘seahorse dad’ figurehead now. Probably not something they bargained for.

In other words, a man?

Gofield's post seems to have the info.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 02/06/2023 01:13

Proof of what? That Transmen can get pregnant? We know that. This one isn't even the first. 🙄

It’s when Mum tells you she’s a man but you can see right through her.

Codlingmoths · 02/06/2023 04:20

DoingSomethingUnholy · 01/06/2023 23:04

It's a pregnant woman with short hair. My mum has short hair, I didn't realise she was so ground breaking for having kids with her hair short. If this woman is able to get pregnant and carry a baby she's as much a woman as I am, she just likes to dress like a boy and cut her hair. Nothing to see here!

Nothing about a nude female with clothes painted on says dressed like a boy to me!

WimpoleHat · 02/06/2023 05:20

Struggling to see what’s newsworthy here. One person puts penis into another person’s vagina and that other person is pregnant. Has happened since time immemorial. Just another pregnant woman.
