Apologies if there’s a thread already but as someone at similar stage of pregnancy I’m struggling to articulate my thoughts on this one.

Let and let live vs feeling offended (not even sure that’s the word?!) as at similarly heavily pregnant stage

I didn't even realise it was body paint; thought it was just a cheap nasty suit. I guess I'm not the target demographic for Glamour magazine.

I feel sorry for the healthcare staff, already tired and stressed, having to remember their language doublethink when dealing with patients like this.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 02/06/2023 12:18

He’d have to have periods though. How does that work with testosterone?

This person was "off hormones temporarily for their health" or something, which is probably an acknowledgment that taking large amounts of exogenous testosterone isn't good for female bodies.

@Neverinamonthofsundays
If she fancies gender realignment surgery then perhaps but until then she is our little girl whether she wants to be our little boy or not.

I thought «gender realignment» was beautifully put 😄

Just read further on and realised - the «male» got pregnant by accident.
I mean… ok?
So she and her partner are having heterosexual sex with the usual bits involved, and were surprised a pregnancy ensued.

That’s a bit «special», yes.

turbonerd · 02/06/2023 14:16

Serious question: does it hurt in the breast-area or will all the milk-ducts have been removed with the mastectomy?

FannyCann · 02/06/2023 14:17

Time was when the focus of sex education in schools was to teach girls how not to get pregnant.
Now with such a busy curriculum of all things trans and queer with a side order of porn one wonders if any teenagers are being taught the basic biology, let alone safe sex. Hmm

I'll let Freddy McConnell answer that.
A woman who didn't realise that double mastectomy means no milk ducts/breast feeding equipment. 🙄

So in a nutshell, it's a woman that got up the duff but this woman says shes a man and acts like a man. Ookkkaayy.

Faffertea · 02/06/2023 14:58

WTF is wrong with Freddie that they are asking for breast milk donations from randomers over the internet for their baby?

I pumped loads as DS was premature and had a freezer full of milk I didn’t use but the milk bank didn’t want because it had been in the freezer longer than 3m IIRC. So how on Earth is it ok to just get milk from anyone who’s got some going spare? You know nothing about whether that person has had to take medication etc, just relying on their say so!

Hoppinggreen · 02/06/2023 15:01

Trans men can get pregnant, they are biologically women
Trans women can’t as they are biologically men.
As long as it’s clear these people are Trans (and let’s face it it is) then I don’t have an issue with it.
Their child might though

DarkForces · 02/06/2023 15:04

A woman with short hair wearing trousers managed to get pregnant? Definitely front page news.

loislovesstewie · 02/06/2023 15:10

Freddie clearly doesn't understand biology. There's no hope, is there?

Jeff is wise and hot, sorry I know it's the Feminism board and I shouldn't lower the tone.

Or in a deliberate attempt to become pregnant.

Orchidflower1 · 02/06/2023 15:49

True on both counts
@MrsTerryPratchett

Vitriolinsanity · 02/06/2023 16:36

It is truer the Jeff is wise than that this is not a woman.

Thank you.

Well, that was a concerning read. Why would you Ask randomers on the net for spare breast milk? That is a bit odd. I assume milk donated to the hospitals are vetted one way or another.

Also fecking weird that Freddie blames a «cis heteronormative» system for not being spoonfed this information when having surgery to appear more male.
Pregnancy and childbirth is THE thing that marks out women, and is THE source of all the societal control systems put in place across the globe for thousands of years.

Did Freddie miss that?

I think we can make an exception for Jeff.

HowardKirksConscience · 02/06/2023 19:53

Freddie had the nerve to ask for donated breast milk? Or chest milk?

leelaay · 02/06/2023 20:08

She's a pregnant woman with a buzz cut, groundbreaking and brave im sure Hmm

ApocalipstickNow · 02/06/2023 09:15

I find the binary of TM/TW very interesting.

As has been noted, TW make the news as sporting record breakers, or “firsts”, as movers and shakers in the political world, as leaders of industry, the forces and so on.

So things that men have been lionised for for generations. And often women were unable to access.

TM usually become feted for being pregnant, or giving birth.

Something that has been seen as the world of women- and I’m not playing down the importance of motherhood here, but historically we have seen men and women presented as “Mr A - political firebrand and sporting hero (list of achievements) with Mrs B - a mother” and there has been feminist discourse around the imbalance in this.

Perhaps we will see “first transman to win gold medal/rise to great heights in the army/take a seat in the commons whatever. But so far we have transwomen achievers, transmen pregnant.

It feels like the oldest stereotypes going.

God yes.

Backstreets · 02/06/2023 22:25

celebrating heterosexuals for reproducing feels very 2023 Pride yes. congrats on the baby, do try to vet the internet milk though.

OhcantthInkofaname · 02/06/2023 22:37

His brain says he's a man- However the body says a female. If you're using your lady parts to give birth then you are a woman.
