Glamour magazine - pregnant trans man

Apologies if there’s a thread already but as someone at similar stage of pregnancy I’m struggling to articulate my thoughts on this one.

Let and let live vs feeling offended (not even sure that’s the word?!) as at similarly heavily pregnant stage

I exist = not like other girls

I note this is Glamour magazine and not GQ or Men's Health

I noted that too.

In the history of GQ, has a pregnant woman ever been on the cover? I haven't checked. I'm going to guess no.

namitynamechange · 02/06/2023 05:30

Lovely for them to be having a baby (or have had it by now). I am genuinely happy for them. But it is odd how transwomen get reported in the news for achievements in science, professional firsts, winning quiz shows, sporting achievements (hah), breaking records etc. And news reports about transmen are about how wonderful they are for having babies. Plus ca change.....

loislovesstewie · 02/06/2023 06:14

I'm still confused that a person who wants to be male then decides to do the one thing only a female can do. Could anyone explain?

Because you are sexist/old and don't understand that actually pregnancy/childbirth have nothing to do with women hood at all. Its the American right that pretend they do because they want to trap women in biologically essentialist roles. Trans people are beautiful and brave because they are smashing apart these social constructs (like the man in the article) and that's why the far right hates them!!!

In a nutshell

NecessaryScene · 02/06/2023 06:42

Because you are sexist/old and don't understand that actually pregnancy/childbirth have nothing to do with women hood at all.

At least it was satisfying when all the judges told Freddie McConnell to get lost on that basis - pointing out that logically you can't have it both ways. Freddie wanted to be put down as a child's father, due to having a GRC and being legally a "man".

But if "men" can get pregnant and give birth, then clearly "men" can be mothers, and you hence can't insist on being put down as the father purely on the basis of a claim to be a "man". Mega transphobic!

And if you are going to insist that men can't give birth, then you're definitely not "living as a man", voiding the GRA.

It's the only time we see transmen anywhere isn't it? When they are pregnant or giving birth.
That's all they are noted for.
TW on the other hand, are visible in politics, sport, business, even breastfeeding.

Common, everyday or garden variety sexism. Females are only good for giving birth. Males on the other hand are pretty fantastic at everything else.

The reason that trans women are more visible to you is almost entirely because the gender critical movement focuses all of its ire on trans women.

TraumatisedGooner, do you think this person is "living as a man"?

Do you think that getting pregnant should invalidate a GRC (assuming this individual has a GRC)?

I'm pretty 'live and let live'. But I fail to see how living the very real biological function of a woman is the "living as a man" requirement for a GRC. So I hope he doesn't have one.

YouJustDoYou · 02/06/2023 06:58

Well at least it says "trans, pregnant", no "man and pregnant".

YouJustDoYou · 02/06/2023 06:59

*not

nepeta · 02/06/2023 07:03

So what is a woman, once it has nothing to do with being female? We are not allowed to ask that question, because all the answers are either circular, empirically empty, or based on sexist stereotypes. Yet we are expected to accept those definitions for ourselves?

TraumatisedGooner · 02/06/2023 06:43

It's not a "gender critical movement", it's a "stop stealing our medals, stop stealing our college places, stop stealing our awards, stop stealing our first place/2nd place/3rd place prize money, stop stealing are sporting records, stop forcing your penis into our changing rooms and our toilets, stop attending rallies where women are just trying to speak peacefully about traumatic experiences and screaming at them to die, stop calling for children to be armed, stop telling lesbians they're "bigoted" for not being turned on by penis, stop forcing babies to suck on your nipples with false breastfeeding for your own sense of self gratification, stop making a mockery of us, stop pretending you're having a "period" when many, many females experience horrible discomfort when having a period, stop, just leave women alone to be safe" movement.

AnneLovesGilbert · 02/06/2023 07:11

How’s the child going to feel when they see their birth certificate? My older child is 4 and liked looking at hers and when I explained what it said.

turbonerd · 02/06/2023 07:12

So, just saying it again, the person on the front cover of the magazine is living proof that women/females with short hair can become pregnant.

I hate to break it to them, but I knew that already. Ditto women who wear suits instead of dresses.
I’ve worn both suits AND dresses
(not at the same time, that would be silly)
and had long hair and been a skinhead
(non-nazi, or so I thought).
And had 3 kids, so am living proof too!!

No, it’s because trans women are men and as such are better at and far more forceful in drawing attention to their delusional demands.

It’s often been noted that on the few occasions you hear about transmen it’s to do with their pregnancies, which surprises nobody who knows that transmen are, in fact, women.

borntobequiet · 02/06/2023 07:14

Transwomen - autocorrect put in an unwanted space there.

They do say in the article that they stopped the hormones for health reasons.

His partner is also trans. Yet clearly having sex like a heterosexual couple.

That made me laugh as it reminded me of Riley Dennis and partner, a woman. Dennis made a YouTube video crowing about how they were a 'queer' couple and cutting edge when in reality they are a heterosexual couple like billions of others.

A Freddy McConnell wannabee, I see. Look at me! I'm a man! But I am doing the most female thing possible.

Awrite · 02/06/2023 07:19

I think what is going on is that the ideology wants to put pregnancy into the male sphere. So, not just a female thing.

If that happens, we have nothing that is purely female. Nothing.

bellinisurge · 02/06/2023 07:23

Why is this article not in, say, Men's Health. We all know why.
Straight or bisexual women with short hair and plastic surgery gets pregnant through heterosexual sex. Wow. What a ground breaking story.
Wish her baby well. Hope childbirth goes ok. Her child has a MOTHER and it's her.

Neverinamonthofsundays · 02/06/2023 07:26

You cannot be a man nor identify as one if you can get or are pregnant. Men cannot get pregnant so this is literally a woman having a baby who likes to think she is a man. Sadly someone needs to explain the biological logistics of this to this transmen/women people.

Questionsforyou · 02/06/2023 07:29

In an interview I watched, Logane said 'men can get pregnant. I am male. Why would I say I am female. I fell pregnant by accident and I am male'

Neverinamonthofsundays · 02/06/2023 07:30

If Logan was male he would have a penis and therefore no womb in which to carry a baby.

Logan is a woman playing dressup.

Neverinamonthofsundays · 02/06/2023 07:33

I just read the article and wish I had not. I was not in a great mood anyway this morning but reading that tripe has me spluttering.
