TRAs seem to be keeping away since organisers gained assurances from police that the women would, at last, be protected.
Lots of gay men also attending in support

Fantastic!

SueVineer · 02/04/2023 15:02

We are winning this war. Simple as that. Reality will eventually triumph

nilsmousehammer · 02/04/2023 15:10

Woo hoo!! Wine

DOBARDAN · 02/04/2023 15:14

Good news all round

Flyingticket · 02/04/2023 15:14

Any chance the TRAs are slowly realizing that their public displays of aggression, violence and silencing of women are actually a PR disaster for them?

That’s giving them a little too much credit.

Flyingticket · 02/04/2023 15:18

Actually, in a way it’s a shame. The success of Let Women Speak, depends on them showing up and being their arseholey, music blaring, silencing-us selves. A fact they, remarkably, appear not to have grasped for all these years.

I think they were too busy having fun bullying women, to stop to think how they were coming across to bystanders and the wider public. After all, they are not a bunch of reflective, deep thinkers, are they?

BoreOfWhabylon · 02/04/2023 15:22

I wound back the livefeed to watch Baroness Claire Fox - fantastic speech, emphasising this is not a left or right issue "It's a bloody revolutionary issue!"

Lovely to hear the singing, also to actually hear the women speaking, without the loud interruptions which usually accompany the gatherings

turbonerd · 02/04/2023 15:25

Well done well done well done 💐💐🎉🎉🥳

BitterAndOnlySlightlyTwisted · 02/04/2023 15:26

Thank you Venice Allan, Dr Julia Long and obviously the wonderful Kellie-Jay!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 02/04/2023 15:29

This has made my day. Thank you to Julia, Venice and Kellie Jay.

Boiledbeetle · 02/04/2023 15:33

Just watching now. God it's nice to actually be able to hear them talking for once!

Isn't it? Fabulous women able to talk peacefully and freely.

Mollyollydolly · 02/04/2023 15:37

Watching it now. What a world we live in that women like Julia Long are literal nazis. It's lovely to see them looking relaxed and being able to hear them for once.

RhannionKPSS · 02/04/2023 15:41

Fantastic!!! 👏👏👏💚🤍💜

Boiledbeetle · 02/04/2023 15:42

I've just watched the camera pan round whilst they are singing. Wow there's a lot of supporters there today. And a lot of police!. What a surprise!. Obviously someone high up wasnt impressed with last weeks internet coverage!

Of course passers by and people out for a Sunday stroll will now be able to hear what women are saying. The presence of TRS is not required.

Whaeanui · 02/04/2023 15:47

Oh this is great!

EndlessTea · 02/04/2023 15:49

How historic this seems - this big crowd and women being heard!

ControversialOpening · 02/04/2023 15:50

Trans day of invisibility

They’ll be back. They’re bullies, remember, and they knew that there would be lots of people attending this time, so they hid. When they reckon they’ll outnumber women and think nobody is watching they’ll reappear.

sashagabadon · 02/04/2023 15:50

That is a big crowd! Normally each speaker get 10-20 mostly people just stopping, listening and wandering through ( and mostly about religion) I have never seen such a big crowd for one “speaker”.
that looks like a festival crowd!

MarshaBradyo · 02/04/2023 15:50

Really fantastic

I can’t watch the link atm but things are changing. Thanks to all the women on here and irl

Lots of unis have already broken up for Easter. I’d bet a tenner a significant number of last week’s protesters were back home sitting down to a Sunday roast this week.

Rainonthehorizon · 02/04/2023 15:54

Seems like a great turnout, plus quite a few men there. Aja got a selfie with the guy from 'I'm a black Jamaican' video.

The Gay Mens Network are represented today.

Spiked have reporters there and are covering the event.

And the police seem to have sent over 7 vans rather than having 7 invidual police officers walking in the opposite direction. Last weeks optics definitely didn't go down well with the higher up. 😁
