Continuation of Thread 3.

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or "Has anybody noticed this recurring theme that keeps coming up??" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions, grr"- that sort of thing).

OP posts:

Timeless and unforgettable outfit there too on The Jesus!

I hope you're feeling better soon @beastlyslumber . When I was in hospital a few years ago, I was probably the snorer in our bay, but I didn't get a decent night's sleep either, as the nurses kept having to come in to do obs or other stuff on one of the other patients at all kinds of weird hours. If I ever have to go in again I'm taking an eye mask and ear plugs with me.

MavisMcMinty · 10/03/2023 22:17

ALWAYS ASK FOR THE SLEEPING PILLS.

Tell them to wake you up for them if you’re already asleep, because your sleep won’t last.

MavisMcMinty · 10/03/2023 22:18

And also cry with pain near bedtime and they might give you morphine, very good for sleep.

beastlyslumber · 10/03/2023 22:28

I don't like the morphine. But you've just reminded me that a previous ward-mate gave me a pair of earplugs so I'll give them a whirl. No one gets much sleep in hospital, do they.

MavisMcMinty · 10/03/2023 22:33

Only the nurses.

MavisMcMinty · 10/03/2023 22:33

KIDDING!

MavisMcMinty · 10/03/2023 22:35

I actually find the background hubbub rather soothing, as an inpatient. The best sleeps I ever had were during visiting hours!

Only the nurses.

😁

And hopefully beastly is asleep, at least until they wake her up to tell her it's time to go to sleep.

Hope you're out of hospital soon, Beastly. The last time I was in hospital I had my own room, but there was a man in a nearby room who repeatedly shouted 'Nurse! nurse!' in a panicked voice. I heard a nurse say to him 'It's alright Mr Smith, it's your medication that's giving you hallucinations'. Goodness knows what was going on there but suffice to say that little sleep was had.

beastlyslumber · 11/03/2023 07:41

Fingers crossed, they're letting me out this morning! Actually got a few hours sleep last night. Earplugs.

IcakethereforeIam · 11/03/2023 09:24

Morning @beastlyslumber I hope this morning sees you not reading this because you're being discharged.

Test for @MmePoppySeedDefage

MmePoppySeedDefage · 11/03/2023 10:42

Thanks Bint. I still could not get in on the App, so went in on the desk top to see if I can get past the videos, as I suspect that’s the problem, and it seems to have solved it. Happily I did get the see the men cleaning balls.

Woohoo.

DON'T DO ANYTHING WHEN YOU GET HOME.

Just sit and relax.

No just sticking the washing in or washing the dishes.

Settee rest is prescribed, preferably with someone bringing you snacks and tea every time you ring your bell.

You do have a little tinkly bell for such occasions don't you?

IcakethereforeIam · 11/03/2023 12:18

@beastlyslumber

Irritating but I’m completely used to being compared to Nazis these days, so it’s rather lost its impact and just looks a little bit pathetic. As does bandwaggoning on Lineker’s migrant policy comments. It’s an absurd comparison which trivialises persecution.

Winterborne74 · 11/03/2023 13:03

Well done Elaine.
