Caba Baba Rave - take your baby to watch nearly naked men in fetish gear

Clymene · 02/03/2023 09:18

Journalist Dominique Samuels has posted video of one of their events: https://twitter.com/dominiquetaegon/status/1630948003962912768?s=61&t=gd6tu0Iz6JpyKXGLWMLGjg

Which features men gyrating and hanging from the ceiling surrounded by a crowd of clueless women and their babies.

I would say it's NSFW but it's apparently safe for babies so have a watch.

Here's a reddux article:

https://reduxx.info/uk-sold-out-rave-for-babies-featuring-drag-queens-prompts-outrage/

Since the video went viral, the company has taken down its website and Facebook and made their Instagram private. I wonder why? Confused

There's also the deliberate shaming of people. Even on this thread, insulting women for saying it's not appropriate.

To me, it's a tactic. It's designed to shut down speculation.

Sorry, just jumping back on to say so far this has been an echo chamber. I have been the only voice to say that IMO, I am fine with this event - already followed them on SM and did not see any safeguarding issues (and nor presumably has anyone else until....now.)

Please point out where you have been shut down or shamed?

fyn · 02/03/2023 16:18

Of course two year olds take in what they see. My two year old talks endlessly about riding horses, she’d only seen it on toy story. Only complete morons would think otherwise!

What is it about men dressing in underwear and prancing about sexually in front of kids that you are fine about?

I don't get it. Are you desperate to be cool and in the process you have lost the ability to think?

If women said 'we are going to dress up in hardly anything and dance about nearly naked showing babies our vulvas' everyone would be 'nope'...but call them 'drag queens' and people seem to lose all sense of reason.

The fact that everyone here can see this is a safeguarding fail except you does not an echo chamber make.

It means you are the only person on this thread who is willing to state they see no problem with mixing babies, alcohol and adult sexualised entertainment.

I’m kinda amazed there is even one person who is so out of step with the law, but if these events sell out there must be quite a few Very Cool Mummies in London?

Because I am a fan of Cabaret, of Drag as an artform.

You dont have to like it.

You are right you have been the only voice in favour.

Thankfully.

A tad hypocritical given the prevalence on this thread of shaming "Very Cool Mummies" and implications that they're thick, no?

And I like Death and Doom Metal and Stoner Rock.

And I know that my interest isn’t suitable for babies.

Why can’t you see that this ‘cabaret’ isn’t appropriate for babies?

RethinkingLife · 02/03/2023 16:25

Why do parents go along with this?

Because history rhymes and people are desperate to appear progressive?

Have a bracing cup of tea (or prefered beverage) to hand when reading this: How the Left Took Things Too Far
Germany's left has its own tales of abuse. One of the goals of the German 1968 movement was the sexual liberation of children. For some, this meant overcoming all sexual inhibitions, creating a climate in which even pedophilia was considered progressive.

Pallisers · 02/03/2023 16:26

Because I am a fan of Cabaret, of Drag as an artform.

It is an adult artform. Saying something is "artform" doesn't mean it is suitable for everyone or that it cannot be used for purposes other than art. Knock yourself out and go to as many caberets and drag shows as you want. you are an adult. But maybe ask yourself why babies and toddlers are being introduced to this particular artform. This isn't the pantomime dame providing a bit of "oh no you won't" schtick to babies. you know that.

They might not be stupid, they might be victims of groomers, or they might be predators.

Assuming they are dim is the ‘Be Kind option here.

Attempting to shame women doesn't mean it's successful, it clearly isn't. It's the attempt.

Being called wankers, for instance?

Erm., think you will find it was one of your own who started with the wanker comment. Nice try though!

This is an event that's been established for quite some time, and the events always sell out. Many of the London mum Instagram accounts highly recommend it.

A social media pile on is not on at all.

Presumably if you do not want to attend this type of event, then dont go. Not everyone hates drag acts.

It really isn't an "internet pile on". It's a discussion and , certainly as far as I've read so far, pretty civil.

Some posters are pointing out that a room with racily dressed adults doing burlesque and actively engaging with babies an toddlers, isn't really an appropriate place for mum to take baby. And discussing safe guarding issues around such an odd choice of day out.

My tuppence worth ... I'm struggling to think of any benign reasons why these performers want to get up close and personal with with children while half dressed/ wearing nipple tassels.

I like cabaret and a lot of adult oriented shit that you might also. I can still see that this isn't family entertainment and has potential safeguarding issues

A) They're not on this thread. B) i'd like to hear from them, not shut them down, and c) it's not trying to shame them, it's trying to understand the mindset.

You might have noticed people asking questions. Why do you think it's okay? Why can't you see the sexualisation? Do you understand child development? Do you understand boundary erosion?

It's the opposite of shutting down.

Boiledbeetle · 02/03/2023 16:30

And I'll post this again "child sex abuse:

A child is defined as any person under the age of 18. Child sexual abuse involves forcing or inciting a child to take part in sexual activity, whether or not the child is aware of what is happening and not necessarily involving a high level of violence.

This may involve physical contact including rape or oral sex, or non-penetrative acts such as masturbation, kissing, rubbing and touching outside of clothing. They may also include non-contact activities, such as involving children in looking at, or in the production of, sexual images, watching sexual activities, encouraging children to behave in sexually inappropriate ways, or exploiting or grooming a child in preparation for abuse (including via the internet) or prostitution. Child sexual abuse can be committed by both men and women, or other children."

People who take their children to this are doing their children a disservice. And if anybody thinks that the show we are talking about doesn't involve sexual activity, doesn't encourage children to behave in a sexually inappropriate way and doesn't start to prepare a child for abuse are living in Cloud Fucking cuckoo land.

And as for the babies aren't aware/they won't remember, my first memories that I can date are at 9 months old.

Erm., think you will find it was one of your own who started with the wanker comment. Nice try though!

They're not 'my own', it's not a gang!

And they were referring to the mothers in the article. Not people on this thread.

Attempts to shame women for upholding safeguarding are common. Hence pearl clutchers, kink shaming, etc. and minimising inappropriate male behaviour.

Helleofabore · 02/03/2023 16:35

Hilarious!

The poster who cannot recognise sexualised performance also seems to not be able to adequately recognise an echo chamber vs the overwhelming majority of adults recognising sexualised performance.

However, the use of the term surely shows just how ‘progressive’ the posters using the term really are!

Datun · 02/03/2023 16:35

Seasonofthewitch83

Why do you think these drag artists have targeted 0 to 5-year-olds, specifically? What do you think is the reason? Why is that their preference?

Do you have any ideas?

Blister · 02/03/2023 16:36

I can't even go out to the pub to eat with baby in lap after a certain time. 😂
All I see is sheer desperation to show women can be as horny as men.
Sorry I find this more funny than infuriating. Parents make poor choices for their kids all the time.
But did some male partners work during the maternity leave to give money to another man to wiggle his penis infront of their girlfriend/wife and kid? Hilarious.
On the serious side, I'm sure someone is using this as an excuse to boink in front of their baby later on because "they've seen it all before". If you didn't laugh, you'd cry.

Clymene · 02/03/2023 16:36

By your own admission @Seasonofthewitch83, this show isn't suitable for older children, only for 2 year olds and under. So you and the people who put this stuff on must think it's sexual. Otherwise why is it limited to under 2s?

What other reason is there? It's either that you think it's unsuitable for children or that under twos to these are unlikely to tell anyone what mummy took them to yesterday.

Whatever the rationale, it looks decidedly dodgy.

I suspect The Very Cool Mummies were the ones in an online echo chamber?

Once this footage reached a wider audience (4.7 million views on the tweeted video) they closed their social media down ¯\(ツ)/¯
