Caba Baba Rave - take your baby to watch nearly naked men in fetish gear

Clymene · 02/03/2023 09:18

Journalist Dominique Samuels has posted video of one of their events: https://twitter.com/dominiquetaegon/status/1630948003962912768?s=61&t=gd6tu0Iz6JpyKXGLWMLGjg

Which features men gyrating and hanging from the ceiling surrounded by a crowd of clueless women and their babies.

I would say it's NSFW but it's apparently safe for babies so have a watch.

Here's a reddux article:

https://reduxx.info/uk-sold-out-rave-for-babies-featuring-drag-queens-prompts-outrage/

Since the video went viral, the company has taken down its website and Facebook and made their Instagram private. I wonder why? Confused

That is unexpected! What a beauty!

They are, aren't they? Not like the stinking drag queens.

I'm off to Oz in ten days, for work. I'll be joining a ship in Karatha, or Darwin. I hope it's Darwin.

Yellowdays · 03/03/2023 14:54

Just nauseating.

Sorry, Clymene for derailing.

Back to the thread. It was discussed on GBNews with Patrick Christy last night.

The blonde lady in the video clearly doesn't understand grooming or safeguarding. Her argument is totally ridiculous.

I can't get past people like this. Well educated, clearly intelligent...but lacking in sense.

Betty91 · 03/03/2023 15:00

Yes my thoughts too @Ginmonkeyagain - it looks crap. £25 to sit on the floor and look up a man's hairy backside.

This is the other thing : it's all allegedly so progressive, and in the name of inclusivity and LGBTQI+ rights..... but it's really just "omg drag is so hot right now, let's have a drag event it'll make us a tonne of cash" - churches, pubs, libraries, schools, baby groups are all bandwagon jumping ... where next?

We're not going to be able to get a hair cut or do the big shop without some fella in horrible contouring make up and a manky thong doing the splits next to us.

CryptoFascistMadameCholet · 03/03/2023 15:03

Betty91 · 03/03/2023 14:38

I just cannot understand why anyone would allow a stranger, dressed in just skimpy pants pick up their child. And... is that meant to be WonderWoman costume.. the red with the gold wrist things...?

And yes, two events. CabaBabaRave was at Fox & Firkin I think? Scummy Mummies were at Honor Oak Pub at a bog standard Drag Story Time - or as Scummy Mummies like to call it - 'fighting actual fascism'. What are joke they are - (and not for the reason they think) - always banging on about how awful the Tories are and fighting fascism and now there they are at The Most Middle Class London Mum Cliche event complete with resident Drag Queen, leopard print and probably some gold leggings. Edgy.

The Honor Oak event wasn’t quite as family friendly as it was billed.

I’ve just been off around Insta and I’ve found quite a few of the performers via looking at image tags.

I found some video footage from Honor Oak, and I’m putting a few stills on here, along with venue matching photos.

This drag queen is a guest star rather than the usual organiser, apparently he appeared on the UK Ru Paul show?

The host drag queen is in the last image, from the pubs Insta account. As you can see, match for the wingback chesterfield chair.

In the video the drag queen hoiks up his skirt, does the splits, and on standing pretends to be tangled in the mic lead, giving him an excuse to bend over and show his arse for as long as possible (not a bare arse, so, small mercies)

DysonSpheres · 03/03/2023 15:06

I saw the video that clip is taken from and the little girl looked totally uncomfortable and like she had gone into 'freeze' mode.

CryptoFascistMadameCholet · 03/03/2023 15:09

The little girl is on the other side of the doors that I’ve marked up (the second two images are from 2013 when the pub was closed to the public waiting on new owners).

The current landlord clearly likes a red leather chesterfield or 3!

She seems to imagine that as long as the children not being physically manhandled by the men, then nothing is wrong. She says well what do you think they're going do to them.

You're absolutely right that she does not understand grooming.

Betty91 · 03/03/2023 15:09

@CryptoFascistMadameCholet the picture of the girl by the pub door is disturbing. This is so utterly grim.

I just cannot get my head around seeing a child stand by a door watching someone in pants and thigh high plastic boots - it's so incongruous with her sweet little dress. URGH.

I wish everyone could see her expression but I decided best not to show her face.

She’s not happy.

Datun · 03/03/2023 15:11

One good thing is that most people seem to condemn it.

Betty91 · 03/03/2023 15:16

It's always 'let's remove boundaries so we all belong' isn't it?

Ginmonkeyagain · 03/03/2023 15:16

I just find this current mainstream "normie" obsession with drag a bit - well - cringe.

I was, and to a lesser extent still am, a big club and fesitival goer. I have put in a fair few nights at Madame JoJos and Tranny Shack back in the day. I love Paris is Burning.

But that doesn't mean I want a Poundshop Danny La Rue gyrating at me every time I go to my local for a roast. It is a bit baffling that mainly white men in make up have become the byword amongst the suburban middle class for diversity and inclusion

Nothing wrong with drag and club culture in the right context (eg usally ina club for adults) but all this stuff is a bit embarrisingly try hard. It's like Viz's Modern Parents.

CryptoFascistMadameCholet · 03/03/2023 15:16

The Honor Oak do an 11 am story time for kids (and that drag queen is more panto-dame like, at least likewise!) followed by a ‘Drag Brunch’.

Presumably CopperArseCheeks is performing for the brunch bit, but the story time kids are still in the building?

Clearly the boundaries are blurred between the actually aimed at kids bit and the it aimed at adults having a meal and booze?

Which isn’t ok.

EsmaCannonball · 03/03/2023 15:17

ThighMistress · 03/03/2023 09:48

I agree that objecting to something is not trolling.

The whole thing looks at best ludicrous, at worst downright disgusting.

On some (low) level I feel sorry for the performers: fancy being reduced to this crummy gig. How humiliating.

I feel zero sympathy for the idiotic “swing your pants” oh-so-super-cool mothers. They should be deeply ashamed of themselves turning up - and staying- at this shitty show.

Unfortunately the performers might be getting something other than money or prestige out of the gig, which is a big part of the problem. How many people on here would feel comfortable stripping and exotic dancing in front of toddlers? The fact that these men, and one woman, targeted infants says a lot about their personal tastes.

Yeah, adults can do what they like. It's making it into a family event that is weird. Usually, or at least old fashiondly, when you were making something into a family event, you would make it extremely tame. Now it's just that you make it cringy - a bright afternoon in a warehouse where some bloke in a thong does the splits in front of boozed up parents and their bewildered babies.

Betty91 · 03/03/2023 15:25

Viz's Modern Parents is bang on.

The Very Cool Mummies and Viz's Modern Parents don't realise what massive cliches they are.

Are we peak drag yet do you think?

And that's the naivete. Even if the actual performers, some of them, or all all of them, are perfectly legit, they're basically telling every nonce in the county to sign up so they get their kit off, gyrate their privates right in front of kids, maybe get to put some on their lap, or throw them in the air, and all in front of their completely oblivious parents.

CryptoFascistMadameCholet · 03/03/2023 15:30

I found the dangly bondage guy’s showreel.
Looked through instagram for posts with Patchworks as the venue and found video of another performance. This one a rope performance (gym/boxer themed?).
The Insta account that posted the video belongs to the bearded guy we’ve seen in other pics and there are several others tagged in it. In Dangly Bondage Boots Guy’s defence, he has had the good sense to delete his entire Insta. The others tagged have gone private:

The Cara Baba lot have done him WELL dirty - he’s a lot less David Brent when he has room to move and no kids crawling under him…

vimeo.com/558293016

You can see he has the same boots on for some of his showreel performances.
I kinda like the Al Jourgensen from Ministry cowboy hat and coat outfit.

Being grateful for small mercies, I’m glad just he didn’t show up for the babies wearing the pig costume…

CryptoFascistMadameCholet · 03/03/2023 15:38

The only notable audience response on this 53 second video is when The Very Cool Mummies did a loud cheer for the big splits move 😳

I’m not linking because the dad pans the camera to his child’s face and says the child’s name. The child looks quite worried and the dad asks (paraphrasing) if the kid is scared that the performer could get hurt? That seems to be a reasonable take on the kid’s response, imo.
😢

Ginmonkeyagain · 03/03/2023 15:38

I mean we have all been to those types of festivals - "amazing caberet performers"

= a couple of bored drag queens and a stilt walker doused in glitter.

I agree. And she has very little of substance to her arguments at all. Fell back on the false comparator of cinema etc.

I really think people have been led by activists to do their thinking for them and they really haven't seen where it lands. But they need to repeat the trope or get cancelled.

And I don't think she understands grooming at all, no.

You are fine with 1 year olds seeing a half naked man in fetish gear? Really?

I have a 10 month old and whilst I personally wouldn’t want to see that and wouldn’t be going. I really don’t think my 10 mo is aware of what’s a sexual/ inappropriate act right now IYSWIM. It’s no different to ballet where they are wearing skins except the adult connotations/ kink element which I absolutely wouldn’t want around my child once they start getting more aware of context. But right now my boy doesn’t even realise colours can be sorted into categories let alone outfits/dances.

I would be trying my best not to view a flying penis where I am pretty sure my boy would just be watching a person fly around in the air and that would be mind blowing enough to keep them occupied.

That said can’t they just put some extra pants/clothes on.

///

Ok let's flip it ... are you ok with the man in this scenario enjoying doing this near your baby in this way and possibly engaging individually with your child?

I actually saw video of that event. It struck me as being a style of humour that I found uncomfortable even when I was much younger: that banter that is verging on, I guess, sexual harassment.

It was all a bit "I bet you like a bit of meat and veg, love, don't you?" HEHEHE. "I've got a lovely bit of sausage for yer."
