I am so excited that this is coming to Australia - I will hopefully be attending.

Anyone else?

Well if I was sloppy in using the word "troll" how else to describe what others are already saying are bad faith posts which have effectively derailed this thread.

KJK doesn't have to on demand make her opinions about nazis.

FWRs dont have to reply to accusations that aren't based in facts.

It wont change the mind of those saying it, because that isn't why they are posting.

Sorry also it was deleted as I acknowledge some posts but just dont have time to trawl through 10 pages of largely irrelevant comments.

But yes lets stop talking about men.

She wasn’t knocked to the ground

Not true.

I have watched 3 videos from different angles.
Not sure what your picture shows-she is standing there

gwrachod · 23/03/2023 17:51

turbonerd · 23/03/2023 16:50

She wasn’t knocked to the ground. She chose to lie down to make it more difficult for the po’s to handle her.
You can clearly hear them say that they need her to stand back up again.

She absolutely was. Go watch some videos from different angles. The one I saw clearly showed the man on her right (police? Security?) and the LWS steward in the red are responsible for her ending up on the floor.

This is into outrageous victim blaming territory if you're saying she threw herself on the ground. Have a word with yourself.

Absolute bull. I watched the footage several times over to try to work out what happened and the police did not push her to the ground.

I can't decide if she fell or chose to lie down. She has form for lying down in protest but equally she was wearing heeled shoes on very wet grass so she could have slipped or fell. The police officer says very clearly, "ma'am, I'm going to need you to stand up". I think that would be an odd thing to say if he was responsible for her being on the ground.

gwrachod · 23/03/2023 17:59

This is the one I saw.

It's clear she's assaulted by two men and one of the LWS stewards. One of the men is police, I think the other is possibly one of KJK's security.

Fuck me, FWR is now full of people excusing violence against women from the police and hired thugs. I could cry.

The video you are referring to has been sped up and is choppy.
It is not a good source.

2/10, D- if I am generous.

WTF are you on about.

Look at the link I shared just now. Does that look like a woman voluntarily lying down to you?

You are quite literally excusing violence against a woman. It's as clear as day, but you're gaslighting us that it isn't there.

You disgust me.

What else are you all going to excuse in KJK's name?

She's employing thugs at women's events.
This isn't going to get any better.

You are behaving exactly like the TRAs. When Maria McLachlan was assaulted, they said she started it, the video was doctored, she was the aggressor etc etc. All lies to excuse violence against a woman.

And now you're doing it.

Datun please tell me all isn't completely lost on FWR and you, at least, can see this woman isn't voluntarily lying down? That she's pushed & manhandled?.

RoseslnTheHospital · 23/03/2023 18:13

@gwrachod why are you using an obviously edited, sped up and looped video clip that is only a few seconds long to try to prove anything??

This MP approached from behind, ignoring the protocols at the event for how to be allowed to speak if she wanted to. She came charging in through the security cordon. The security team have every right to act reasonably to protect the women speaking from any potential threat. It was an undignified scuffle and she ended up on the ground. At that point she was left to get up on her own, indeed politely asked and encouraged to, but chose to continue to make a scene.

She could have taken a turn to speak if she had really wanted to address everyone present, but she chose to disrupt and be hostile.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/03/2023 18:14

Maria McLachlan didn't try to break the security line on the separate TRA side, did she? I was there.

This woman approached from behind trying to get to KJ. For what? It was threatening. What if she'd had a weapon? And it was the police who stopped her.

RoseslnTheHospital · 23/03/2023 18:15

I don't think anyone here really cares about your levels of disgust or whether you could cry. Have at it. Your attempts to shame and tell women off are baseless.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/03/2023 18:17

She's clearly an attention seeker, and she got attention. She doesn't appear to have much self awareness so she's probably not too wounded by the whole experience, even though she made a complete tit of herself.

What fucking security line, there wasn't one. The TRAs justified it by saying she was filming them and that was a threat.

This is bullshit.

Are you admitting she was assaulted now, though?

Before it was "she walked into the door, your honour" sorry, I mean "she threw herself on the floor".

Now you've seen footage that clearly shows that's not true, are we going with "she asked for it?".

gwrachod · 23/03/2023 18:22

Right, so we've gone from "it didn't happen"

To "it did happen but she deserved it"

To "it did happen and she deserved it, and wanted the attention, and women like her don't really feel pain anyway"

Fucking hell.

FOJN · 23/03/2023 18:26

"why are you using an obviously edited, sped up and looped video clip that is only a few seconds long to try to prove anything??"

Exactly. The footage in a clip above is run at normal speed but from a different angle.

Oh FFS, so much drama. Find me a clip of that footage run at normal speed.

OneLongSmorgasbord · 23/03/2023 18:40

It does look like she was put on the floor, I'd seen 2 other angles but not that one.

TBH if someone tries to get through security they're going to be stopped, male or female. No one knows if they're carrying a weapon or are going to hurt someone so they have to be stopped one way or another. I put that in the 'fucked around and found out' basket.

If she'd have wanted to talk and waited her turn to talk, I imagine that would have been fine. But that wasn't what she wanted and wouldn't have caused enough drama.

NecessaryScene · 23/03/2023 18:41

Not sure it's been sped up, necessarily, the other shots show her going down quite fast.

But it's at the least been heavily, heavily processed to leave out a lot of frames. It's practically an animation, suggesting someone may have figured out which frames left in and out will create the best effect.

Either that or someone was really using a below-standard-definition camera capable of only about 10 frames per second, which I doubt.

Do we have any better version of that clip? It's the best angle I've seen.

gwrachod · 23/03/2023 18:42

Justnot · 23/03/2023 18:39

I found this - first one I looked at so not saying definitive - so she makes numerous attempts to get past security and is finally pushed/pulled away

https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/senator-lidia-thorpe-clashes-with-police-at-anti-trans-rally-20230323-p5cunr.html

And you can see quite clearly from that angle, that she's pushed to the ground, she doesn't just lie down.

What new excuses are we going to hear now?

Justnot · 23/03/2023 18:44

I think anyone would have ended up on the ground in that instance, not sure how you drag someone away without dragging them away…..
