That was epic!!
Women are so brave, and funny; some of the stories were heartbreaking, some hopeful, but the courage of all was inspiring.
There were very loud protesters standing not far behind us (behind a line of police and SFW stewards) who seemed to have real issues with letting women be heard. They used loud hailers and noise makers shouting “we can’t hear you” ummm no shit Sherlock - KJK did point out the problem for them 😂
Mounted police moved them on after about an hour and a half so when it finished no one had to walk through them.
I saw Channel 10, Channel 7, I think The Advertiser, and other reporters that I couldn’t identify filming most of it so we’ll see how biased they are.
From what I’ve seen from Channel 7 and The Advertiser, it’ll be very biased 😡
I guess I’ll also find out soon how works feels about women’s rights!
I pretty sure I peaked the taxi driver on the way home.
He had been sitting on the other side of the road so had seen the last 15 minutes and asked what it was all about.
He just kept asking “but how has that happened” “how has that been allowed” He was incredulous but is going to go check what his kids are being taught in school 💪
Oooo and I got a selfie (cos I wanted to thank KJK in person and couldn’t help myself) - obvs I won’t post that picture, but here’s a couple I can share.
Thanks @Helleofabore and @BoreOfWhabylon for your encouragement 💐
I also owe some thanks to @MishyJDI I was nervous about going because I was on my own and I’ve seen how the BeKind people are, and was worried about afterwards….. but you reminded me why women should step up and speak up.
Today I stepped up, next time I might even speak up…. but being there gave me the spark to have an open conversation with a random taxi driver when I had no idea what reception my TWANW was going to get, and now I’m very happy I did.
