I am so excited that this is coming to Australia - I will hopefully be attending.

Anyone else?

I can’t picture it and all the footage looks very confusing but those are good questions and I hope that the police are held accountable.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 23/03/2023 14:12

KJK aside if the police are not taking nn seriously or are actively enabling them then that is a massive security issue. I hope that the media takes it up and I hope that there are campaigns to cajole them into disingenuous so.

NecessaryScene · 23/03/2023 14:12

I don't believe the Police do not recognise this group. They have been active on social media. They must be on watch lists!

Isn't that probably the point? They probably are known, and they probably know that they're non-violent in these situations - they're going to be there dressed funny and doing their salutes, but not actually assaulting anyone.

The TRAs are far more of an unpredictable threat, being a disordered hate-fuelled mob, and any of them could be making moves towards the women - (maybe not even knowing what they're intending to do themselves and hoping to be stopped).

So given limited resources, it's quite rational to ignore the saluters and try to corral the screaming mob.

IcakethereforeIam · 23/03/2023 14:27

Incidentally, had KJK put out a statement written in her own blood, does anyone seriously expect that would have stopped the neo nazis from popping along anyway. And when that happened the people saying 'look, nazis', would still have said that. But they'd just be either ignoring her statement, claiming it was insufficient, claiming as she knew nazis would be there she should have cancelled, claiming it was a gesture and a wink, as they're still on the same side. Or any tortured bullshit because the anti-women mob are not acting in good faith.

Fwiw, I'm prepared to believe the Police ignored the neo nazis because at least they were being non violent bellends. Perhaps they were worried about provoking trouble from them when they had their hands full with the violent tras. It still leaves a nasty taste. From their inaction the Police seem more aligned with the neo nazis than anyone else there.

1 KJK / PP has been a long time activist, not necessarily claiming to be a feminist, against sex being claimed as an identity by men
2 A lot of women found it easier to respond and get involved with her activities than the hierarchical organisations who adopted traditional male left practices, that allowed only a few women a voice
3 Some of these hierarchical women were offended that someone less "political" than them was attracting more women than they were, and that because of her free speech policy it could happen that some who attended or spoke could be said to be right wing (are only left wing women allowed to be fighting for their sex based rights?)
4 These hierarchical women also needed to please the men in their heads (ie their socialist bros) that they were not in anyway like KJK / PP
5 So they posted lots of grandstanding statement about how women should never work with right wing groups and "stitched" together evidence that KJK / PP did
6 Antifa males (and student incels) swooped on the opportunity to "legitimately" silence women and started demonstrating, often with violence against LWS events
7 Right wing men delighted at the chance of a bit of bother against the male left turned up to demonstrate against Antifa (having no real interested in anything women might want to say)
8 So two groups of men combined to silence women, making sure, yet again that women's voice, women's experiences are not heard
9 This happened because a very small group of women unable to attract other women to their politics decided to set the left misogynists on women who wanted a chance to speak
10 Effectively a group of women who think they are properly left have conspired with men of both left and right to silence and intimidate women, as the Daily Mail article clearly illustrates
11 Their corrupt behaviour is illustrated by the fact that other socialist women groups have been easily able to support the right of women to speak even though not likeing KJK / PP politics or lack of them
12 So it turns out the real collaborators with violent men are women who are too afraid not to be liked by men, so will happily send women into the firing line to prove to these men that their primary allegiance is to men / men's politics.

Dedecated to WPUK and AGCL

The thread has moved on I’m sure, but I wanted to repeat this.

Kjk can of course denounce «the far right» until the cows come home. But she has an Open mic arrangement for ANY woman that might want to speak (correct me if I’m wrong) and this might well include women from the far right.

It reminds me of the lady doing the podcast The Witch Trials of JKRowling. She was sort of evangelical/far right-ish. How could she hear other points of view or be given space to think if she were to just be denounced?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/03/2023 14:47

I've just watched the Canberra stream - was a really good meeting. Fantastic speakers and KJK was in full Boudicca Hell Hath No Fury mode.

SinnerBoy · 23/03/2023 14:49

Pulverised. Yes Lidia, you're like an Australian Steve Biko.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/03/2023 14:49

Aboriginal senator of Victoria Lidia Thorpe is thrown to the ground.

Perhaps she shouldn't try to invade a peaceful meeting in a threatening way in front of police, and when challenged keep resisting and pushing forwards. Oh well she's made quite a laughing stock of herself now, crawling in the mud in the service of misogynistic males.

Datun · 23/03/2023 14:59

It's more of the same tactic though, isn't it. Pretend you've been pulverised by the police because you've got no bloody argument!

I'd bet my mortgage she doesn't have the first clue about what KJK is doing.

OnlyTheWeedsGrow · 23/03/2023 15:04

Just went down a rabbit hole. Found a new word. Very apt, given the Hobart debacle. TRANSMANIA.

Helleofabore · 23/03/2023 15:09

There were some amazing speakers in Canberra.

i wish the woman who was a trans rights activist had her shit together and actually came prepared. That would have been a really interesting moment. I did wonder at first where she was going with her private Christian schools are the worst… because that I don’t believe. I don’t believe they are worse than state schools.

It was interesting to see Paula Hansen come along. I have to say that was brave but she turned it into a electoral campaigning speech and I didn’t feel that was appropriate. I rarely agree with her, but she seems to have her head around some of the issues here. Not just the medicalisation of children either.

All the speakers were so brave and so nervous. That first speaker (the young woman) was rather amazing. All of them were nervous and scared. Even Pauline Hansen who has faced media storms and abuse was clearly nervous and probably scared.

well done you women.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/03/2023 15:18

All the speakers were so brave and so nervous. That first speaker (the young woman)

My heart went out to her, she was shaking so much but her voice was clear and true.

littlbrowndog · 23/03/2023 15:50

The sight of lidia crawling in the mud after she was stopped by police and security from barging to the mic will stay with me for a while

Aboriginal senator of Victoria Lidia Thorpe is thrown to the ground.

"Let women speak, but only the ones who agree with us."

She wasn’t knocked to the ground. She chose to lie down to make it more difficult for the po’s to handle her.
You can clearly hear them say that they need her to stand back up again.

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 23/03/2023 16:53

Good afternoon, I see I've been accused of "going quiet" and thinking the bellends in black were part of the liberal centre, or something.

You were posting to me during my normal working hours, you dedicated left-wing saviour of the workers, you!

If you want me to reply to you instead of going to work, which keeps my children fed, you will at least have to pay me national minimum wage per hour. I normally get paid circa £11 per hour, so that's already a pay cut. A very gracious offer from me, I'm sure you'll agree.

Until I hear otherwise, I assume, as I do whenever I see someone Western using Nazi regalia, that these are people who want to publicly advertise that they like the idea of being Nazi party members in third reich Germany, and joining in on industrialised murder. I doubt it's the politics that initially attracts them- it's the idea of getting to hurt people. I'm emphasising this, because I think you could convince them that they would be financially better off under a centre-left government, and they would still be publicly wearing the Nazi outfits. There is a reason why some 90s era groups of football hooligans tended to have swastika tattoos, and it's not because they were originally passionate about right-wing economical positions and came to think that the Treasury budget under John Major was slightly too moderate. It's the violence.

That takes a lot of typing, and honestly "far right" is good enough shorthand for it, because (I thought) we all knew it. In day to day life, the important thing is what my (tiny) mother hissed at me when I was a little girl holding her hand, and I wanted us to go over and tell off the two skinheads the size of brick shithouses walking ahead of us, for their nazi gear: "stay back, they're looking for a fight". All the men on the street ignored their deliberately slow progression too, because they already understood that.

But these days, EVERYONE is being called far right, and yes, I will make facetious comments about it. It's that or scream at the top of my voice, and the walls are quite thin. It'll upset the neighbours.

gwrachod

I don't argue that Labour has been a huge disappointment. But the women on the ground who are doing with with parties across all political parties say progress is being made. Are you calling them liars?

The socfems say progress is being made on the left, which is put at risk by any perceived links with the far right. Are you calling them liars too?

Sit down for this one. I don't believe them.

They're not necessarily lying. They may simply perceive the world differently to me. Or maybe "progress" is a regionalism for "making no fucking headway here whatsoever" and this is all a massive misunderstanding. There's any amount of explanations beyond they're "liars". But it remains that I don't believe them at all.

And no, my disbelief cannot be pinned on KJK, because KJK has been banned from twitter for yonks. I don't watch youtube streams because of my own hearing issues. I prefer to keep up with events via text, so my disbelief solely originates from following the "socfems" on twitter and judging them by their own words.

Can we have a thread that is actually (oh dear that loaded word) about the events themselves?

ie speeches

beastlyslumber · 23/03/2023 17:06

We can try!

She was banned for years and only recently reinstated.

Perhaps you weren’t aware of that.

So to are many other people previously banned. Many of them have had their bans overturned under Musk’s tenure at twitter.

IwantToRetire · 23/03/2023 17:12

@MNHQ why was my earlier comment deleted?

It was a reflection about how I felt about comments on this thread.

Where in you guidelines does it say this isn't allowed.

Yes, she has now got her account back, ppst-Musk.

Her account was still banned for yonks, and during that time, she was rather hindered from shaping my opinion of anyone, much less the 'socfems', as she couldn't tweet, she couldn't post on here, or take part in any text-based forum I was on. They could do both, and did.
