A woman has been found guilty of raping two women

A woman has been found guilty of raping two women when she was a man. Happened in Scotland. She hasn’t been sentenced yet - but where will she serve her sentence? In the womens prison?!
This is going to mean some serious discussions and tough times for the Scottish government. But it was surely only a matter of time before something like this happened.

This is a great article for understanding how legislation and policies have been changed under the radar (one tactic being adding policies to more 'palatable' debates in order to put them through - self id in Ireland being an obvious example) -

www.spectator.co.uk/article/the-document-that-reveals-the-remarkable-tactics-of-trans-lobbyists/

Until I started to see this in action, I would have been a bit 'ooh, it's a bit too conspiracy theory' but it's not a conspiracy theory if it's actually happening.

Cuppasoupmonster · 25/01/2023 12:14

I think we forget a lot of politicians simply aren’t very bright and will do anything for votes. The SNP’s position is that whatever the Tories do, they do the opposite. The Tories could introduce universal free school meals and the SNP would oppose it. They also need to look ‘global’ to appeal to the EU so anything seen as ‘progressive’ in woke areas of the continent, they will follow.

I will get slaughtered for this but NS doesn’t have children and I’ve noticed MOST strong advocates of TWAW don’t. They don’t have a vested interested, a personal one, in the protection of kids - they just see ‘children’ as ‘the public’. They have no intimate knowledge of just how vulnerable they are and have no impetus to care. Same with OJ. All they have to worry about on a personal level is themselves.

That is NOT to say all childfree people feel this way. But it certainly removes an incentive for people like NS to ask themselves uncomfortable questions about how they would feel if their child was involved with this creepy movement.

Anyway, can anything be done in terms of British government intervention? Even in theory? I feel desperately sorry for the female inmates who are about to share their prison with a serial rapist who likes to wear lipstick. I’ll happily write all the necessary letters and petition somebody if I could think of who…

Men who are in relationships or married, maybe have children, professionals, seemingly ‘normal’ lives, and yet deep down, they hate us.

Would I be prejudiced to suggest that men seem to have a pack instinct always to want to protect their class? They aren’t speaking up in the main.

Some women for their part do ‘fashion’, ‘pick me’, not bothering to be informed, and be ‘kind’.

I think I’ll try to see if my DH will sign that Equality Act petition today. He is beginning to understand the issues I find upsetting, but I also sense that the idea of ‘poor marginalised’ transwomen, plus possibly fascination, is lurking there in the way.

Would anyone like to join me in this?

Glad to see the petition signatures going up faster than in recent days.

I understand why you’d say that however in my experience, I don’t know a single man that would advocate for this and I also know a man who called out a trans woman in a female changing room. They just wouldn’t stand for it. My DH and the men in my life feel the way I do and wouldn’t hesitate to say so. I guess we need more like that.

Have you signed this one which would help clarify the law which in itself could help protect women more?

I don't know why my previous post was deleted, apologies @MNHQ I wasn't aware it breached the guidelines.

It contained a link to a twitter thread, which I won't relink in case that was the problem. I think I found it through @glinner 's tweets. The risk assessment for tw (doh!) to be transferred to a women's prison is for the risk to the tw not the women that will be housed with the tw.

Also, and I hope this is wrong, girls in care who claim they are boys will be searched by male Police officers!?

The linked YouTube was from a Scottish Prism, who seem to be pro-Independence. The claim about female gender confused children is made around 46 min and the prison stuff around 56 min. The 2nd speaker, John Moir, also talks about how Holyrood stacked the deck of the GRR consultation and mentions The LGB Alliance's complaint to the UN about the bias of that guy whose name escapes me.

Waitwhat23 · 25/01/2023 12:24

And the reason that a lot of this has gone so far is because of no debate, no platforming, the silencing effect etc. The only reason that this is now coming to the public's notice is the unstinting efforts of women (and some men) who have made a fuss, asked questions and faced abuse for doing so. Women won't wheesht has gained momentum because women have refused to wheesht, even in the face of 'be kind', 'wheesht for Indy' and more recently, threats of decapitation.

ScrollingLeaves · 25/01/2023 12:25

Thank you,Icake..

Why don’t you write and ask Mumsnet why they deleted your post? That seems to me to be essential information.

I must say that having a daughter has been the main driver for my interest in this. Even had I not, just coming across news articles on the subject would have piqued my interest; I'm a believer in fair play, not cheating and I don't like bullies, bigots, or liars, in any form.

IcakedefargeIam · 25/01/2023 12:41

@ScrollingLeaves I twigged while I was writing the previous post. It was the other three letter initialism. I'd seen it around and thought it was okay now. You know the one....in a double act with Topsy, not the rugby guy. First name of Brooke-Taylor (RIP, not that). Might be a brand of peanut butter.

Ah, so you're not planning on making the tellers look at a dick pic. Good. Of course people who would object to people doing that are so prim aren't they?

A silly cartoon penis isn't a dick pic, is it? Not that I've ever intended to do so, let alone indicated that I thought it was a grand idea, so no need to patronise me.

I also never accused you of being prim, either.

You're partly arguing with someone else's point, but aiming it at me.

You butted in on the exchange so do you want to be involved or not?

ScrollingLeaves · 25/01/2023 12:46

That explains it then.
Here is the article bringing up that part of the matter.

I have emailed my (English) MP.

She won't listen, or care, but she can't truthfully say that she's never had anyone raising concerns about this.

I included the uncropped photograph of the rapist.

Darkoutsideclosethecurtains · 25/01/2023 12:52

I really don't know why they've been so totally captured.they signed up to the Stonewall cult and it took off from there. Ruling body of the SNP have been pushing for self-id, but again, why? Joanna Cherry is who I listen to

There was a picture of that person going into court wearing tight ( in the crotch area) leggings.. definitely isn't a woman! They had a penis.

He has a penis

Plbrookes · 25/01/2023 08:56

No, it's an option for everyone. What circumstances justify, in your mind, forcing public servants to look at drawings of penises when they are trying to support a democratic process?

And where did i say that people should draw genitals?

or that I thought it was a good idea, or indeed that i would do that

there is a massive gap between ‘stand for parliament’ and ‘draw a penis’….its not one or the other

Notaflippinclue · 25/01/2023 13:03

Have emailed Derek Thomas - he usually replies

lyson · 25/01/2023 13:08

Please could someone write an email out for me to send to my local MP (Rachael Maskell)?

Chersfrozenface · 25/01/2023 13:09

I can't find the story on the BBC News website any more.

Leaned on, were you, Auntie?

ArabellaScott · 25/01/2023 13:10

Dear MP

Why is a rapist in a woman's prison?

ResisterRex · 25/01/2023 13:11

Maya is on Times Radio about this now

Notaflippinclue · 25/01/2023 13:18

There is a petition to get Barbie into a male prison knocking about - it's a start.
