I thought MPs were bound by some standards of behaviour?

Yesterday the leader of the SNP at WM called his peers 'rabid gammon', which was shocking, but what I found more disturbing was Llloyd Russell-Moyle's verbal attack on Miriam Cates (clip above).

I actually found his behaviour frightening and alarming, and can't imagine how it must feel to have that venom directed at you by a colleague - let alone the slanderous accusations made.

Is it possible to make a complaint to the Labour Party about his behaviour?

Do things at an overnight camp - quite clearly to limit the capacity of parents interfering, or their children sharing information the presenter might find inconvenient.

Fgs. I seriously wonder how far this is going to have to go before enough people wake up.

Finding myself once again on the conservative side here rather than Labours (bit like LRM!!)

Glad he's gone on the record about what Lloyd did

AutumnCrow · 23/01/2023 19:01

I've now written to the Speaker's Office.

MorvenOfMalvern · 23/01/2023 22:46

The quote tweets on LRMs latest non apology are just exploding. Over 800 and counting!

AlecTrevelyan006 · 23/01/2023 22:48

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2023 11:29

He's back on Twitter spouting his lies👇

He's talking Complete bollocks of course

He’s taking the piss

MorvenOfMalvern · 23/01/2023 22:59

I think he is possibly someone who has always managed to control the narrative. Always had a lot of people on side believing his self righteous bluster even when he gets caught.

He has dealt with this controversy and backlash in the way that's always worked before. A sort of, non apology, a few winks and eye rolls to your mates in the right places and wait for it to blow over. Oh, and sling some mud and claim a bit of victimhood for yourself/those you're supporting as you go to deflect ..

I imagine this may be the first time that people will be starting to back away and say, "you've gone a bit far..."

@Datun I only went to that page as the title caught my eye on the index page and the red bunting immediately went up.

I disagree with These sorts of things in adult training sessions, and I'm a very very strong woman and even I had issues standing my ground on not taking part in These sort of trust exercises. I mean I always won because no one touches the beetle.

But young kids. It's fucking sick. It's the first step to, "well you don't mind your friends touching your body this is no different, trust me it will feel nice, and I'll give you a chocolate bar after". as the grown man sticks his hand down the young child pants

Of course it is. We don't go around teaching little kids to trust total fucking strangers.

I've said it before, but for the love of God would it really be too difficult for the government to sanction one syllabus for sex education. Just the fucking one, to be taught to all school children, modified for age.

With input from appropriate people like child development professionals, parents, and safeguarding experts.

And that's it. No more outsourcing to Mickey Mouse outfits with a dodgy agenda.

Then none of this would be a problem. No one else gets their hands on these kids.

'How to overcome resistance'

That document actually refers to colleagues who "resist" as "enemies".

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2023 23:32

@Datun now you see i was at high school 84 to 88, so obviously no sex ed in infants and juniors but what we had in high school seemed very standardised. We had the video, we had some work sheets, we are talked at by an embarrassed teacher. But I always got the impression every school got the same.

Now obviously I'm hoping it's updated since the 80s but this should be a government topic. This is the material. This is the video. Do not deviate.

It's so simple why haven't they done it?

greengoose21b · 24/01/2023 07:33

I just read about those three trusting games and feel quite sick.

I "played" one of those games at school, in a drama lesson. The one where an inert person is passed over the heads of the group.

It was one of the worst moments I can remember in my whole school life. Everyone was deeply uncomfortable and took part because they felt they had to. Until, that is, it came to the turn of a rather large girl, who must already have been feeling absolutely terrified. When it got to her turn, half of the class found their voices, and said they weren't doing it any more. The shaming of that one poor girl for her weight makes me burn with anger even now.

Aasmah Mir was interviewing Labour’s David Lammy this morning and at the end of the interview asked him about the abuse given to Rosie Duffield and Miriam Coates in the House of Commons and in particular from Russell Lloyd-Moyles. I think it about 7:40/7:45.

I'm assuming Lammy said nothing of worth or interest, and echoed the hideous little beardy cockwomble's non-excuses?

Workerbeep · 24/01/2023 13:43

He started off avoiding subject but I thought Aasmah Mir was very measured and calm and he said it was unreasonable behaviour and intimidatory and should apologise.

Personally I think he should be kicked out of the party.

Kerry1962 · 24/01/2023 13:47

Well Lammy thought a man could grow a cervix and women should stopping hoarding (so give away) our rights...
I think we need to bring in a series of intelligence tests before anyone is allowed to be an MP. My assumption they must be relatively bright has been beaten over the head with a shitty stick the more I know of many of them.

Boiledbeetle · 24/01/2023 14:08

So..... those figures on his reason for crossing the floor and intimidating Miriam tweet, as I'm new to Twitter, can someone explain, does it mean it's been viewed 2.2 million times and only 65 of those 2.2 million people have agreed with him?

@Kerry1962 that would be funny if this sort of thinking hasn’t landed us where we are today.
Where are the professionals and journalists telling David Lammy the truth. It’s as bad as Donald Trump!

Workerbeep · 24/01/2023 14:16

No concept he was being intimidatory? Really?!?
In the photo I saw he was sitting far too close and aggressively staring at Miriam Coates. There was plenty of space slightly further away from her.

If the entire rest of the world watches him intimidate a woman, but he has no concept that he's doing it, he shouldn't be let out without a responsible adult.

That’s how I would interpret those numbers, yes.

Also, the majority of the 1240 quote tweets are unlikely to be supportive (but all of the 24 retweets likely are).

Replies are set to ‘people LRM follows’ only, and the single reply-er doesn’t seem at all convinced by Oily Moyley’s excuse:

In related news, if LRM is unable to anticipate that his (male) behaviour might make a (female) colleague feel intimidated, perhaps he should enter a party whip-enforced period of self reflection?

After all, he’s just admitted that he doesn’t have adequate understanding or sufficient knowledge to participate in this debate!
