At some point after 2pm, in the Big Room (the Chamber).

www.parliament.scot/chamber-and-committees/whats-on-and-watch-live/whats-on#wm

Will be interesting to see how the Amendments go down, if they are all struck down as the ScotGov wishes - www.holyrood.com/news/view,gender-recognition-reform-crunch-vote-after-shona-robison-warns-msps-over-amendments

'the Scottish Conservatives have warned that the debate could lead to a "travesty of democracy" because a 15 minute time limit for each proposal will "shut down" discussion.'

Hairt sair.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 22/12/2022 15:35

Im so sorry - and the fact they cheered as they threw women under the bus. Cunts

also bunbury works for dads too… just saying

fromdownwest · 22/12/2022 15:35

Excuse my ignorance on this, what exactly has changed? Is it the process required to identify as a woman / man. I.e less scrutinty and pretty much able to self identify.

So in theory, a man could in 3 months, be legally allowed in female only spaces, and any challenge from the venue would be a criminal offence?

I hope I have read this wrong, otherwise it is insanity.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 22/12/2022 15:36

No you haven’t read it wrong

and you’ll love what constitutes evidence as living as the opposite gender…

Boiledbeetle · 22/12/2022 15:36

@ArabellaScott this is the beginning not the end. We can do this.

Thank you for your wonderful reporting on this thread. I've felt your frustration in your typing.

How far does it stretch? Could a man mid trial identify as a woman, to then be sent to a female prison?

SulisMinerva · 22/12/2022 15:38

I’m so angry that this has passed - such a badly thought out law! Thank you for your efforts on keeping the thread updated @ArabellaScott - it’s really helped me keep track.

MarshaBradyo · 22/12/2022 15:38

It’s so depressing and I worry we’ll be next.

I’ll stand with you while it happens in Scotland

I’m heartened to hear there’s still a fighting spirit

HootyMcboob76 · 22/12/2022 15:39

All those women blindly throwing their own kind under the bus to appease some deluded men makes me want to fucking puke.
ASHAMED to be a Scot today, ashamed of my government and ashamed of every single person who just threw vulnerable women and girls to the wolves.

Women's right shave just been set back 100 years. Well done Nicola Sturgeon you betrayer of women and women's rights.
When the inevitable rapes and assaults happen, you can't wash the blood off your slimy hands.

ArabellaScott · 22/12/2022 15:39

these past few days are the first time many people have even begun to consider what it actually means to say that a man can identify into the class of 'woman'.

It's out there now.

'No debate' is over. The debate has only just begun.

We will now hear people talk through what it means that Katie Dolatowski and Barbie Kardashian - violent males - are incarcerated with women.

That 16 year old children can change their legal sex.

That the NHS no longer recognises same sex care.

That women of faith have no right to spaces free of males.

That no data is collected on the basis of sex.

That there is a male running a rape crisis centre in Scotland.

That the majority of the Scottish Government voted in laws that 2/3 of the country don't want.

Flowers Scottish women Flowers and the frankly fucked-up implications for all the women of the UK. That's actual women, to be clear, females of the species Homo sapiens.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 22/12/2022 15:39

@fromdownwest yep! Acceptance without exception no matter when

If I remember rightly there was research showed that once TW prisoners had been released from female prisons astonishingly many of them Detransitioned

And as if by magic @Waitwhat23 😊

Abccde · 22/12/2022 15:41

Well that says it all about their values.

I would like to say I will remember it at the ballot box if I ever move home- but that ain't happening now. I've got a daughter. I need to keep my kids as safe as I can.

Signing off now. Its almost Christmas. Time to spend quality time with my family who do respect women.

I have literally just picked this story up now, how on earth is there not more of this in the mainstream media?

It is utter utter insanity! Devolved powers again proving how they should not be allowed any form of power!

I thought we have it bad with Drakeford in Wales

They have already harmed women, causing distress and traumatising women who have experienced male violence. Each and every one of them who voted for this. Every single failure to capture sex disaggregated data harms women. Every single lie told that men can become women and women can become men harms women, reinforcing sexist stereotypes about it means to be male or female.

The SNP, the Scottish Greens, the Lib Dems and Labour have abandoned women in Scotland and they simply do not care. We will not forget. We know they plan to target children next and so we will not give up on fighting this dangerous nonsense.

My thanks to all the wonderful, brave women who have been fighting this.

#womenwontwheesht 💚🤍💜

RhannionKPSS · 22/12/2022 15:44

That woman did not flash her Vulva , she was fully dressed , wearing nude tights and a merkin she had made!

IwantToRetire · 22/12/2022 15:45

Will just say this again, if somewhere, eg a women's refuge uses the Equality Act to say their services and their staff are women only, then no man with a GRC saying he is a woman can use the service or work there.

The EA over rides the GRA.

So although Scotland will have a different route to getting a GRC it does not change the EA. Unless Scotland now decided to opt out of the UK EA.

The problem with have is even before this vote too many people, including women chose not to use the EA excemption to support women's sex based rights.

We need to have a very clear and very strong campaign making everyone, particularly women understand, that the EA allows single sex services, and in this instance a GRC does NOT mean someone has changed their sex. (which also shows that the GRA is a legal fiction as the EA recognises that it isn't actually true).

GrouchyKiwi · 22/12/2022 15:45

Normally this kind of shoddy law being passed would make me think seriously about moving back to NZ, but it's just as bad there so I can't protect my girls by taking them home.

I cannot protest in person, but I will support every one of you amazing women who can.

HootyMcboob76 · 22/12/2022 15:45

ArabellaScott · 22/12/2022 15:42

WTF?!

They can't help themselves. Seems to be a common theme in all of these rallies and demonstrations.
It's almost like it's typical male pattern aggressive sexualised behaviour.

Or I could be wrong.
Given that they're "women" now.
