Who would you like to see come out as GC?

There are a few outspoken women, who I secretly daydream they’re GC. Top of my list would be Oprah. I’d be thrilled if she was a closet GCer. She would shut up all those people who spout crap like “TWAW just like black women are women” and other guff. But in reality, I doubt this will happen.

Also on my list, in no particular order is
Jenner Lawrence, Sharon Horton (I know she’s friends with Aisling Bea so it’s unlikely), Meryl Streep. I’ll add a few more names when I remember.

I think Carrie Fisher would have been GC, she was very smart and understood the issues women face.

And Victoria Wood too, who had a good handle on how size and class issues impacted woman (I miss VW, so incredibly talented).

Who would you love to see talk out about this?

I'd also like Ian Rankin and Alexander Maccall Smith all previous neighbours of JKR who have NEVER defended her. Its time they found their humanity. Otherwise on my boycott list. And Rankin is everywhere promoting his latest book.

I do wish he'd say something about it. But on the other hand, he seems to make a point of not being openly political most of the time. Though I noticed he made a weird announcement about including gay characters in his books going forward fairly recently, I wondered if there had been some pressure from his publishers.

I told my DD about this thread. She asked me what GC meant . I told her and then said like JK Rowling. And she said "aaah, you mean transphobic" ....and then asked why I hoped more people were transphobic....!!

I find this so disheartening- the number of young women who blindly think JKR is transphobic. Could you ask your DD what JKR has says that is transphobic?

Well that's why people don't say anything @Fizbosshoes. I should think the actual number of people who think at all and who genuinely think male people should be in female sports events is pretty small. But if you're going to be told you're transphobic if you think there's a problem there, even if you support and love your trans friends/vote for pro-self ID parties/use preferred pronouns and all the rest of it, a lot of people are just going to close their eyes. Even more so if the people who do say 'women aren't men with low testosterone' also say other things you disagree with.

Same with Stewart Lee, is another. Caitlin remains silent, whereas he protests too much that TWAW.

Oh yeah, you can imagine Stewart Lee and Bridget Christie at home. Central heating powered only by the strength of their self-satisfaction.
